PatrickAWlson Posted February 27, 2024 Author Posted February 27, 2024 @Stonehouse The whole aircraft control business is wonky. I have said this dozens of times: look at AI flown planes. The control surfaces are flapping like a deranged canary. The engine is full/cut/full/cut. It been the state of the AI since RoF so I'm not holding my breath for improvement, but I'll be happy to see it if it does come. 1 5

I have other campaigns running that allow "parked".
Charon Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 (edited) It seems that static targets on airfields are being generated with durability 25000 irrespective of the object: Default durability for aircraft is 1000; this prevents static aircraft and trucks from being destroyed by strafing Edit: this is in 15.1.1; sample mission attached. fw190f 1943-03-16.zip Edited March 9, 2024 by Charon

Biggus Posted March 10, 2024 Posted March 10, 2024 Hey Pat! I've got a weird one and I'm out of ideas - although I've probably done something wrong. I had a PWCG install that was a few versions old and after a bit of a break from Il-2, I decided to update to version 16.0.0 today. I'm getting a very basic Java exception popup now when I attempt to start the program, and there's no logs or anything that I can see to help me troubleshoot. When I updated initially, I just did a cut-paste into the previously working folder. When that didn't work, I deleted the PWCG folder and created a new one, but no luck. I'm a bit stumped. Any ideas? 3
SvAF/F16_Goblin Posted March 10, 2024 Posted March 10, 2024 (edited) I also have the java exception. Tried deleting the PWCG folder and creating a new but no joy. Latest java 64bit version. Win 11 version 23H2 Edited March 10, 2024 by SvAF/F16_Goblin 2
Skidderr Posted March 10, 2024 Posted March 10, 2024 (edited) EDIT: Nevermind I just found the thread. Sorry guys! New here. FYI I am also getting the Java Exception Error Is the Spitfire IXc usable in PWCG right now? Thanks ? Edited March 10, 2024 by Skidderr 2
Rokychuchi Posted March 10, 2024 Posted March 10, 2024 Hello Pat, thanks for your continued work on PWCG. I've stumbled upon a problem: I get an error trying to make a mission for a new Hurricane attack career on a channel map: I can make without a problem a Spit Mk V fighter career, but trying to make an Attack for Hurricane always gives this error, both for 73rd and 74th squadrons. Only a single mission file is created with this error (unlike when a proper mission is created, there are a lot of different language files), it's attached to a zip with an error log file, if it can be of any help. Take care! RAF-Attack-01 1941-10-01.zip
ssn650 Posted March 10, 2024 Posted March 10, 2024 (edited) I'm also getting the Java exception error. Windows 11 x64 ARM. Should we copy the jdk-17.0.9+9-jre folder included with Version 16.0 somewhere? Java Runtime Environment is already installed. Edited March 10, 2024 by ssn650
Mtnbiker1998 Posted March 10, 2024 Posted March 10, 2024 Also reporting the Java Exception bug, but only for BOS, FC version seems to work fine

I am trying to package the Java Runtime into PWCG. When it's not working, what is happening is your computer is finding your installed Java and not the packaged runtime. This is a PWCG issue and not a problem with your system. Per the other thread, you can get around any errors by installing Java 17. It's a PITA which is why I am trying to get the packaging done automatically. I'll keep working on it. 2

They are still releasing bug fixes for it, but I would still suggest upgrading or removing it, depending on whether you need it.

I had updated to Java 17, but turned out I still had a Java 8 install floating around in my C drive. uninstalling that seems to have fixed it! Minor observation, I know you generally like to have mods applied automatically, so the P-40s should probably have their new engine mod by default
ssn650 Posted March 10, 2024 Posted March 10, 2024 (edited) I like the idea of packaging JRE into the Campaign Generator, and the only reason I have Java installed at all is because it was a requirement. I'll try uninstalling the JRE version that I have and see if that does the trick. Edit: Strange...I uninstalled Java and tried to run PWCGBOS but was told Java was required. =USMC=DirtyT Posted March 10, 2024 Posted March 10, 2024 Hi everyone, thought I'd jump in this thread as well. I'm getting the "A java exception has occurred" error with PCWG BOS. I'm able to run the latest flying circus version totally fine though. I've tried the latest version of java but am having no luck. Seems this is a new error effecting a lot of us?
PatrickAWlson Posted March 11, 2024 Author Posted March 11, 2024 I posted a new version of PWCG BoS with a (hopefully) corrected configuration for the bundled JRE. No version upgrade, just a new download. Let me know how it works out. 1
ssn650 Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 The new version of PWCG BoS is working for me! Thank you so much, Patrick!
easterling77 Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 This upload works but for some reason I can't set the La 5s 38 as an owned aircraft. There's no Icon for the La 5 S 38 or the Li-2, only the written type without an image to click on it.

eskander Posted March 22, 2024 Posted March 22, 2024 (edited) Hello, Many thanks for the mod; we had fun in PWCG FC a few years ago; pulling it back out but running into issues. I seem to be running into issues a number of members have had in the past few months on this thread. FC coop campaign on German side; create campaign, create initial pilot linked to me (host); go to create additional pilots for coop users. Receive error on attempt to add: java.lang.NullPointerException: Cannot invoke "String.equalsIgnoreCase(String)" because the return value of "pwcg.campaign.squadmember.SquadronMember.getPlayerRegion()" is null Attached error log and campaign report error zip. Not certain if anyone else got an answer/solution, but I'm not seeing one in this thread. Any help and your time is appreciated. Thanks. Berten Posted March 30, 2024 Posted March 30, 2024 For some reason there seems to be hostile AA on friendly airbases (the bases in question are definitely behind our frontline and AI sometimes even have dialogue with them to land, but the AA ai seems to be hostile and attempts to shoot us down.) Anyone know for a fix for this? Perhaps I just need to set AA to low and back to medium?

Geezer Posted April 3, 2024 Posted April 3, 2024 Most likely. I had the same issue in EMG with aircraft taxiing into each other. Had to switch to runway start. As Pat said, In PWCG it is hit or miss. My P-40 campaign in the Moscow map works, whereas my P-38 campaign in the Normandy map did not.

czech693 Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 (edited) Have you tried entering a "Region"? It's saying the region is null, so maybe having "none" in that field is not working. Pat Wilson has said before that the Normandy map taxing points are messed up, and recomends runway starts on that map. Edited April 21, 2024 by czech693

I did though, both with the region matching and differing from the initial pilot in the campaign. I tried "none" as the final one and just happened to grab the screenshot from that attempt. Thank you for looking, though!
