  • Tweaks/changes:
    • Take-off mission was tweaked so plane is more lined up on the runway.
    • Landing mission has had the intermediate waypoints removed, and the airstart is a bit further back. Some of the faster planes were having a hard time slowing down in time to land, and the one size fits all of the waypoint glide slope wasn't always ideal.
    • The formation mission has been tweaked slightly so the lead airplane won't need to turn hard at the beginning to line up with the first waypoint.

I've propagated these changes across all planes, and while I don't think it has messed anything up it's a possibility. Let me know if something isn't working.

Excellent work again @Utopioneer and many thanks for bundling all the missions in one big file. Not sure when you did that, but it is a really helpful addition!

  • Missions are different for this one:
    • Basic Flight
    • Takeoff
    • Landing
    • Ground Attack
    • Night Bombing
    • Taxi
    • Formations

Thanks for these missions - after an enforced hiatus for health reasons these are perfect for easing my way back into IL-2 missions and the U-2 is a delight in VR.

@JD_LincsUKI think you may have confused my missions with somebody else's, or they got combined in your missions folder, but I do agree that the U-2 is an amazing experience in VR.

Yes, sorry, these turned out to be from U-2VS Mission Pack 1.1 - but no idea who did them as there is no docs with them - I found yours now, so I'll fly those next.

edit - I've deleted the incorrect post.

Okay - I just completed the U-2VS campaign. First - very nice and enjoyable! The only mission I had to repeat was the landing as I had a bounce on the first attempt ?

Please note that on mission 4 - Ground Attack - the "Extra credit" notes for the English version are in French.

I don't know if it's normal, but after finishing the last mission with a success, there is no message that the campaign is complete - just to go on the last mission again.

Excellent training for new pilots - I think inexperienced virtual pilots may find the formation flying a big challenge (but definitely doable if they keep trying), the other missions should not be a big problem, I think.

Congratulations on a good training campaign. ?

My website may be a bit of help - the guide notes are not done yet, but there is some useful info there already, I think (link in my sig).

Yes, thanks very much - I'm looking forward to trying it in all my other aircraft. Things like this help me to fly more often than I otherwise would have.

I downloaded and installed the P-47-22 folder. When I try to access the campaign, the folder is locked and a window tells me to purchase one of the tank campaigns (Proklava?).

Any ideas?"

I know why this is, I made a guess on a parameter (what module number does the player need to own to play) and I forgot that tank crew would have it's own number. Will fix that tonight.

Thank you. I look forward trying it out.

This is, without a doubt, one of the most useful resources for the beginner pilot I have found on here - combines both the practical with the theory.

Damn, you definitely deserve some kind of karmatic event to come your way...! :salute:

This is great! I just got into the game and it's lacking some training stuff. I come from jet sims mostly, so here are some differences. There is only one thing I've noticed. The German versions completely lack the texts. I had a look into the files and saw that in the German version only the titles are translated while all other texts are completely gone. Not a big problem, I just switched my game back to English. But I wanted to let you know, because in the title it says also "German". But in the current state, as a German player you won't even know what to do in the missions.

Thanks @Godex1 . For much of this effort, every plane had a German translation. Recently, my new campaigns have pulled far ahead of the all volunteer translation team. I may need to better illustrate which planes have which translations, while I look for more community volunteers.

These are good fun - I've been flying them in every allied plane. The only one I've had issues with so far was the I-16 dogfight mission. In the end I gave up on it.

Even though I scored many hits on the engine area in the first two passes, the 109-E just flies away, and is so much faster, it's impossible to catch. On one occasion I managed to get it to turn, by flying above it as high as I could without getting left too far behind, then diving on it to get up enough speed, but even then I had maybe a one or two second window to fire before it would just show me a clean set of heels and fly away in a straight line again.

Every other time it just flew off in a dead straight line and I couldn't catch it (flying at 100% throttle, which equated to about 350km/h).

Destroying the truck with the SE5a was a blast - took me about a dozen attempts - is that thing armoured? ?

edit: Ah - managed to down the 109E on my third attempt with the I-16 this evening. It's no bad thing, I suppose, as it makes you not only think about tactics but concentrate on giving that killer burst in the couple of seconds you have before it's too late.

I think the most frustrating thing was the fact that the 109 could fly off so easily with obvious critical damage and black and white smoke pouring from it - that's a game thing, though, of course and shows the damage modelling still needs work.

A big thanks for these training missions. Really helps a new player. The button binding tips are a great touch and really useful.

I unzipped this to the missions folder but when I try to load a mission, it doesn't do anything. I'm playing in VR if that matters. Any ideas?

After the last update you will need to re-save the missions as they were made before the update.

Posted

How do you re-save them? They won't open.

Posted

kisschicken;

* Go to your Main Game Folder and find the 'bin' folder.  It will be the first folder you see.
* Open it and open the 'editor' folder.
* Click on the red starred 'STEditor'.

This opens the Mission Editor.

Then do the following;

First:
Resave-1.jpg

Second:
Resave-2.jpg

Ir will take a while for it to re-save.  When it's re-saved the dialog box will disappear.
Repeat for each folder that has missions that won't open.

When it's done everything should work.

I hope this helps.

This is INCREDIBLY helpful. Thank you!

Sooo, I actually tried to be sneaky and I resaved and re-uploaded after the update. The links should point to versions that work with the current version of the sim, but let me know if that ends up not being the case.
