This is factually incorrect on multiple levels.

My favourite bit is where he is so self unaware that he likes the post I made that is directed at him and not the, *ahem*, "content" that he is arguing.

I mean, seriously, imagine coming into a game sub-forum where another separate game is being discussed to attempt to generate some support for his delusions; the fact that those here are going to be some fairly passionate believers in DCS whilst also quite aware of it's foibles... well it's not the most... how do I put this politely?... considered strategy I have ever seen.

@Mustang19 Seriously dude, you're wasting your breath here, you are not making friends and your arguments are so far from based in any objective reality that you are definitively not going to garner any acolytes based on your profoundly misunderstood (by you) evidence.

You are yelling gibberish at a brick wall. All you are gonna get receive in kind is the splash back from your own foaming lips.

For your own sanity - as thin as that particular concept may be - give it a rest mate.

Please stop quoting him guys...

I believe as long as he doesn't break rules of this board, Luke can't ban him.

But if we provoke him by showing that planes in GB can also pull 7g for two seconds (and more), maybe he'll start foaming about it and by doing so throw himself under banhammer too ;) .

Alright, guys, let's get back to the main discussion of DCS. ? Mustang's posts have been addressed by the mods, so hopefully that is the end of that.

A4

Some dude in DCS fb site said it was a good idea learning the a4 systems. And I learned it systems in a day or two.
That said it took me a day or two to forget them too.
I tried the instrument landing on a carrier two weeks ago and that did not go well, all 3 attempts ended fatally

Really enjoying that big ass radar in the F-15E, its pretty damn awesome for BVR. For fairly obvious reasons best to kill the enemy before it becomes BFM/ACM!!!

I'm actually enjoying the F-15E way way more than I anticipated, its a very cool aircraft to fly, and I was expecting the HOTAS and workflow to be much more complicated than it turns out it is, which is a massive bonus. And its only going to get better as more stuff is added during development.

Yeah watching Notso’s videos really makes it seem accessible…relatively speaking.

I’m waiting for my Phantom.

I do own the Mudhen - maybe I’ll install and look around.

I even struggle with the f-86 . I like that you have fun with your ultra complex f-15e hypermodern jet(Much to high wisdom for the average Il2-Player xD) just a joke).

Many forget the A4 is for free to download. I didnt even know till my DCS mate told me.

Any clues as to when the Phantom pre order will appear in the DCS store? I know I could order it direct but just wondering.

Ok after the Phantom, A 6 Intruder and the Corsair I will buy no more fixed wing AC

this madness got to stop. You can quote me on that

I got a hyper focus on the Blackshark atm. Mad campaign for it required me to reassess my current status as a pilot for it. Making me watch YouTube and do training missions.
I totally forgot about some features in abris.
But I blame earlier campaign for it.
I use campaign’s as a sort of exam when learning a module. And it ensure you gotten sort of hang of all things matter.
But there is one thing I totally missed.
In mission builder you can put 3 different options

1. No alignment or fix position

2. No alignment but position fix needed

3. full realism

I can do fix position, make my own waypoints in abris. Put in coordinates.
But what alignment are we talking about?
Is that a feature one simply do not need because mission makers do not put that option? Anywho I like to know what it is

@Lusekofte It propably means aligning the INS (Inertial Navigation System) as well as the GPS or GLONAS.

@Lusekofte, further to what @LLv34_Flanker said, its to do with the INS alignment. Can't speak for the Blackshark, but as i understand it, with grey jets, to enable faster starts you can close down the jet it a certain way that it knows its location, enabling you to do a stored heading alignment, which is much quicker than a full alignment. Those settings in the FMB are to simulate what state the aircraft is in at the start of your mission.

If you don't do an INS alignment, nothing is going to work properly, even rearming as its going through the procedure and the wing rock of munitions being added can balls it up in DCS, and your hud is going to be gibberish, any weapons that use guidance are going to be fubar.....

Is this the right place to get some help with this 'DCS' module? ??

Ahh, the good old days, when games came with manuals and maps. Paid $1.88 for it at CompUSA, tons of fun.

You think  https://metrea.aero/msim/ is a scum?

I don't know what it is, the little I've seen of it though for the sim part I'm not convinced they have what they claim.

Yes, nothing new here.

How does this relate to the NOR Platform etc?

The little I've seen of the NOR platform is reminiscent of carefully scripted and put together marketing videos. I've seen lots of those that look great and really wow you, but are not in any way representative of the game (Star Citizen, and speaking of that - it's another example where they tried to smash a space game into a FPS engine and its failing miserably) I don't buy they've got Unreal 5 running a full on air combat capable sim, it makes little sense other than for pretty graphics to use Unreal engine since the rest of the engine (physics, designed for FPS games) can't be used and in cases of Unreal being used for high visibility range that would be required for air combat sim in the past it just tanks. Which makes sense, Unreal has always been for FPS first, all attempts using that engine did not have great results. Unless for Unreal 5 they dumped their previous renderer and everything that made Unreal engine up until now, I don't see it being a decent engine for aviation.

Also, in that video you claim is nothing new did you miss the part of a very experienced simmer talking about Unreal engine and how its not purpose built for flight sims? It requires a lot of external systems to make it work so at that point the only thing really left of Unreal's engine is the graphics renderer which, again, unless they totally did away with the previous one that's been modified from Unreal 1.0 to Unreal 4.0 - I just don't see how its going to work well for aviation all of a sudden.

@FuriousMeow

DCS player did test NOR platfor , looks legit but as for me ,I be sure if I see it myself.

About UE befits that could overcome custome engines shortcomings.  I think most important in graphic department and immersion is  the dynamic LODs system. No more pop-in  as you getting closer to objects or incositent looking LODs.

Same as sparce volume textures for smoke, leaks , dust , explosion plus better lighting system is also huge improvement.

In current sims everything is just on it's own, the weather, lighting just don't interact good with each other especially with LODs and special effects.

They use tricks aka somke and mirrors to make it look better but in end of the day is not enough to be  convinced.

However all  that above without good FMs, all  systems modeled and damage model is just pretty shell.

Next sims should have graphics which utilizes new technologies with good simulation.  What is great about new graphics technologies (DLSS , ray reconstruction and frame generation) is    that they boost graphics performance not reduce it when without it game would be unplayable.

They now can focuse more about content creation not the performance optimalization which can be good as time and resources investment.

This game as all we know in limited by custom graphics engine aka can't be done -technical limitations ( refraction, sunblock etc.)

I'm all for both of thoses maps, although I'm not sure Korea will ever happen for many reasons.

However, this map is a really cool map for cold war gone hot.

As long as assets are available to make it like there’s a war going on. SA map is just a bunch of pristine civilian airports. I’m hard-pressed to make it look like a war is happening.

Revetments, sandbags, barbed wire fences, towers etc etc. (like you might get shelled or attacked by enemy patrol etc. Think Vietnam air bases. Kola looks nice (if a bit painterly) but also very peaceful. ‘shrug’

IDK, somehow I am getting some serious Twatwagen-vibes again... It is probably due to some sublimal but serious F-4 anticipation.

1.jpg.8d25a9ae9f853c6672deda8bb7772e3c.jpg

V2.9 really looks nice by now. But I have to get used to setting the weather right. And online, it seems the Twatwagen is attracting all the Tomcat and F16 drivers like the P40 attracts careless 109's (sh*t <- fly). Just because you have only the resemblance of real AA missiles as a loadout, many feel confident to try and just stomp on you and even come in close. Always much appreciated.

Any guesses as to when we'll see the first 'how to' Phantom videos?

If it goes anything like the F-15E, you'll do well not to take too much notice of early 'how-to' videos - they tend to be rushed, misleading clickbait. Ones worth watching generally come later.
