The more I am looking forward to raining death and destruction in the Mudhen

I mean 6 x CBU-105's  6 x CBU-97's is a serious amount of bang bang. Also the coming later 20 x GBU-39 SDB loadout is very appealing!

Oh, did I mention the GBU-28 5000lb bomb!!!!

Waiting on this one since 30 years now. Finally it´s close.

Knowing it is part of a long list of stupid purchases I still probably buy it. But because of stubborn resistance I probably do it at ful price

Damnit

But honestly. We should organise a Mudhen Thursday club or something in this forum and have a weekly or monthly mudhen server party

It seems it is a lot of people here buying it

Look at this way - of all the planes you've purchased, the F-15E and the F-4 are the two aircraft that you really were supposed to purchase all along, they just hadn't arrived yet. Thus all your purchases up to now don't really count, as they were misguided attempts to fill the void in your heart left by purchasing aircraft with pathetically small payloads...such has been your life in the absence of the Phantom and Mudhen.

So when you purchase the Mudhen (and you will...soon) you'll simply be righting a wrong that you've lived with for what is now years. It's been weighing on you heavily, but soon you'll be free of it. So no worries my friend...redemption is just a few clicks away.

On a side note...things are developing rapidly on my end...and we might be moving to Peru later in the year. :o:

The irony is, if we do this, I'll have better internet in the middle of the Jungle than I do now. lol

Thinking of getting my rig down there undamaged is stressing me out.

Yeah I think it was Starbaby (10 Percent True) suggesting that it would be a good option for Ukraine. Apparently it has some payload capability.

I'm still confused why it's "impossible" to go back and make more F-22s ?US defense procurement and all the BS politics wrapped up in it are just insane...meanwhile adversary nations are pumping out ships and other military hardware like there is no tomorrow....

No kidding...none of it makes any sense.

"Dysfunctional" doesn't even begin to cover it.

IMHO the best for getting going with the Hornet are the campaigns by Badger 633. Serpents Head 1 and 2 are excellent to start with. 1 is a freeware 6 mission campaign and 2 is payware. Then he has Rise of the Persian Lion both 1 and 2 which are excellent as well. I have played them all at least once and some twice.

@BOO, once you're up to speed, but not before, Raven 1 is an incredible piece of work.

Yeah I have that one as well, looks really good. Perhaps I will start it soon. I am a little torn in starting another Hornet campaign or learning the Mossie. I am about done with the Spitfire campaign I am flying now - Epsom - and after that not too many campaigns left for it I don't think. Have already done The Big Show and Beware Beware. I would not mind some twin engine WWII action. So much to fly, so little time.

I don’t know about that. If you put learning in to it, it soon enough get interesting.
I been in a long very long pause from ww2 , being my original interest for years, I just dried out.
I look at it more as a plane study sim. Honing skills in more modern aviation. Love it. And keep me going. I hope the urge on going ww2 will come back. All I know is, DCS choppers and now fixed wing together with MSFS keep me going in this genre. Without it I sold all my hardware long time ago

I have A-10C module since 2012, was fun at first, but I quickly got bored with it. Haven't touched it since then. This thing is so slow for a jet. Bought the Hornet recently, thought that maybe it'll be more fun, since at least it's fast. But it quicky reminded me why I stayed away from the Warthog all this time. Operating it's targeting and weapons systems is so annoying. And it's speed makes it even worse, lol. BVR A2A ain't any better. Basically it's just frantic attemps to lock on your opponent and launch your missile before the opponent does the same. Should've just kept flying FC aircraft once every 3.5 years, lol. Even the MiG-15 and a Sabre would've been money better spent. But that's just me.

Get the F-86, get the ''Hunters Over The Yalu'' campaign... it's old fashioned air combat with no frills, just an early jet engine to cope with and six .50 cals... no BVR, no fancy fire and forget stuff.

Oh, and you get to bomb stuff too...

Gambit...I don't know why but reading this WA/Peru immediately brought me back to 70s J. Buffett - Good luck!

I just got the i-16 as a freebie (well $2 with my DCS miles and the sale at the moment).

You don't need a campaign in that thing. Just taking off, getting the gear to come up, then actually managing to get the gear to come down again and land it, is truly an accomplishment!!!

I enjoy flying it, its the landing I'm enjoying less, lol. I've come to the conclusion that landing flaps are just there to kill you, and are best off left alone!!! (see below).

And agree re the early 109, although I was daydreaming a bit earlier timeframe, a Spanish map and a Bf-109B or D.....

That looks like the time I hit burner in the Viper (thinking I was doing a touch and go) while skidding along the runway with the gear still

It's like operating an old telephone switchboard while flying an airplane - fun!

Yeah that´s correct. Let´s hope so. It would be nice if they´d concentrate on the WW2 43/44 timeframe to have at least contemporary planes available in the game in sync with the WW2 Maps Normandy and Channel and the announced Normandy-2 map.

As a plane I 16 is probably my favorite prop plane. Excellent made and fun to fly. Take occasional ambition mission with it but nothing else to do

Here is another one I recommend if you don't like a  MP Server.

Its AI Server with other players or on your own.

Fact is, I don’t really want to do any offline campaigns, but I do know that even if I think I know a plane pretty well, playing a campaign can force me to learn some things that I wouldn’t have bothered with.  So I think I need to do at least one Hornet campaign, just to pull it all together.

Posted

I have decided on a short break from WWII action after the three Spitfire campaigns I recently finished  and will resume some Hornet action. Going to fly this 13 mission campaign - Bold Cheetah.  Will see how much of weapons use I will have retained in memory.  I do so love me some carrier ops.

After completing this campaign reckon I will go back to WWII and take on the Mossie.
