I know it stuck once decided. Hornet is the choice of sense. 

But for me not being a Tomcat fan in beforehand.  Just for flying. Man, I tell you it is a jewel. Probably best jet ever going to be made in dcs for flying and just sit in

Both are on sale. You gonna bite? I've got some DCS cash sitting in my Steam wallet and if the F-16 is 50% off starting Tuesday (Steam sale) I might grab it. Then again, with everything free to fly for two-weeks, might not spend anything right away. I'll definitely be trying the Tomcat again, except this time I can use it with the Supercarrier. That's gonna make for some excellent cinematics.

 

Gotta admit, the "try all our stuff for free" events are a top notch way to create customer loyalty.

That is all I do atm. Fly po2:in GB, F 14 in dcs and cub in FS. For ten minutes and then do nothing. If only ground in GB close up was more realistic.

Hey there. Well I enjoyed my week-long vacation in North Korea. Played some IL2 on the LAN with my buddy Jong-un - he has a wood chipper just like me - and he likes the Mig-3 for some reason. He doesn't fly a lot of DCS, much prefers IL2.

 

Now that I'm back, definitely looking forward to trying the F-14 again. I can't imagine I would buy it, but I'll fly it a good bit for the two-weeks it's free. I know what you mean about the IL2 maps, they definitely leave something to be desired, but you do get better FPS in IL2 than in DCS. That's the trade-off. Be nice if IL2 made at least one serious collectors map, but apparently that conversation causes many tears to flow and teeth to gnash, so it's unlikely to happen.

 

But that's why 90%+ of my flightsim dollars go to DCS. They seem to be happy treating the customers as individuals.

I probably buy all GB stuff if it ain't like bobp. Fc2 is a no brainier. But I stop buying everything just because I might like it in future. DCS is going to loose most of my money if I manage to keep that policy.  Right now I would give a lot of bucks for a slow biplane in DCS   I kind of like old slow unarmed things right now

Do you have the I-16 and/or the Yak-52?

 

Seems the DCS Mosquito will be early next year - January I hope - but probably still much sooner than the IL2 Mosquito.

Meanwhile, two-days to the big sale and the two-week "everything is free" trial period. One thing I'm looking forward to is trying out the DCS Spitfire on those excellent looking English airfields on the Channel Map. I should be able to nail a landing before the two-week trial ends.

The Channel Map is the best WWII map I've seen. It's definitely some next level chit. 32GB RAM helped me out with it.

 

Going to try the 190-D9 again. Flew it during the last free trial and It was a lot of fun and had a nice heavy feel about it.

Yep, really liking the looks of those new clouds. That's going to be a huge improvement.

 

Looking forward to some good P-51 escort missions with some B17 bomber action coming through the clouds. I mean, ya gotta have some four-engine bomber action. Going to be some awesome visuals and action.

Tomcat for sure, but likely a bit later since I want to learn the Hornet backwards and forwards.

If the sale is still on next weekend I'll purchase then, otherwise I'll wait for my new box.

Learning the Hornet backwards and forwards is going to take you a few minutes. There are all kinds of things I can't do with it yet, but I can do enough to enjoy it. And with Voice Attack (yes, I'm pimping it again) I can do more than before. Then again, I think you are more technically inclined than I am.

 

I think the sale is on until the 6th or something like that.

I have no problems with people utilizing Voice Attack to command AI crewmembers (or an assumed crew member) in multi-crew aircraft.  I know a few that do, and some of their scripts are impressive.  But when I'm flying a single seat aircraft, unless it happens to be the F-35, or maybe the MiG FireFox, Voice Attack would blow the immersion right out of the water for me.

It may well do that, depends on how you like to fly and/or how good your HOTAS is. If you have a Warthog HOTAS and you love to manage the details, maybe VA is a bit pedestrian. If you don't have a fancy HOTAS and/or you don't enjoy full level of depth the plane affords, then VA is a good way to "git 'er done".

 

I like a 50/50 mix. I want to manage some of the systems to keep it interesting, but I want some other stuff on VA so I can spend more time flying and less time "clicking". Also depends on the plane. I tend to be more hands on with the Harrier simply because I can manage a good bit of the details and I enjoy it. It's completely subjective on my part.

Phil Style makes DCS WWII look fantastic fun on Storm of War server. Anyone here playing on it? Thinking whether I should get a fighter module from the sale, finally. Sadly I'm not home to try them at the two week free period starting tomorrow.

Yes, indeed. It looks absolutely gorgeous these days. I love the super sharp interiors especially, adds so much to the immersion.

The DCS cockpits range from not bad to best ever. The P-47 is the nicest, but of all the WWII birds I like the P-51the best. I have more fun in that plane than the other WWII fighters.

And the free trial period starts tomorrow. Two-weeks of the entire DCS catalogue ready for download. Not sure about the Viggen though, that one often gets left out.

 

Apparently this module has the best sounds of the game. Definitely going to give it a try... for two-weeks.

Cool! Pretty sure I won't buy it but I will try it again. I'd consider buying the FW-190-D9 though. I really enjoyed that one.

 

Definitely going to try this one again. It's got a wild flight model.

One thing no one can deny about ED is they aren't afraid to promote their products...

 

 

Just wish another flight sim dev team that actually has a solid WWII, WWI and Tank Sim they shouldn't be afraid to market would follow suit....someday....maybe ?

In standalone you can already add modules from module manager.

Apart from the P-47, I now have all the rest of the WWII stuff... in this sale, as well as the Fw A8, I bought the Channel map plus 3 of the WWII campaigns. Lots to be going on with!
