I can see on the screenshot that you get just "motion device" type of packets. In such a case only 2 effects from the SimShaker Wings 2nd tab can be triggered. Please check that the startup.cfg file in the IL-2 folder contains also the "telemetry device" section, or email the file to me and I will check it.
J5_Rumey Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 Ty the telemetry was in there just had wrong port dunno how i managed that. It works now thank you! Now that it work, thinking maybe a jetseat next 1

yakflyer007 Posted May 3, 2021 Posted May 3, 2021 I have two issues that I cannot figure out. I just got my key for Wings with the buttshaker add on. First issue is I have it in stereo as I have two separate shakers and I am running them off of my realtek on board sound and game audio is with a creative and in card. I have two mono amps on the way as I have a total of 3 shakers. Till Wednesday I am using a second home theater receiver. I am going out (front left/right) of the on board sound to the cd in of the receiver. Then I have the front speakers hooked up each to a separate aura buttshaker. But only the left works. If I change the speakers wires and have left on right the other shaker works but not both. I have tried multiple cables, total of 3 different receivers and they all do the same thing. I also tried it out of the soundblaster z add in card and only one will work. That is one issue. The other problem I have is that I have is since I am trying to go to 3/4 shakers I have the optional software. However, I am going crazy trying to get the Asio4all asio driver to install. I have tried 2.15 beta 1/2, and 2.14. When I go to downloads and double click to run I get the agree to the software and then where to install. But I am not getting the next part where it should has 3 checkboxes. One is already checked and that is the required asio driver and then 2 other boxes. I saw examples as I spent 6 hours troubleshooting the issue. I tried to install with Admin priv but no go. Nowhere does anything show up in regards to Asio in sound properties. I do NOT get anything in taskbar like I have seen while troubleshooting. I do get the Icon on desktop that takes me to the Asio4all official website. I get 2 dll files in the C:/program files x86 folder. asio4all.dll and asio4all64.dll, the uninstall icon and the website shortcut. That is it. I am on a week vacation and ordered 2 100 watt sub amps and have 3 shakers. Any help would be appreciated.

yakflyer007 Posted May 3, 2021 Posted May 3, 2021 (edited) I am getting two more sub amps to drive the left and right channels of my aura buttshakers this Wednesday. Hopefully that will take care of not getting a left and right channel. I will leave that issue for now. My biggest concern is that I cannot get the Asio4all driver to install. I get nothing in the task manager. All I get is an icon on the desktop that goes back to the website. To install I am just downloading the Asio4all 2:15 Beta 2 English application. I then run as administrator. It seems to start to install, green install bar goes across screen very quickly and closes. After install there is nothing in start menu, or task bar. I do not see the little icon to open it. I am using my realtek mobos onboard audio for Simshaker and my creative soundblaster add in card for game sounds. Thanks for any help you can give me. Got one of the two problems figured out. I now have stereo working on the buttshakers. I purchased some new cables. All three did not work. I switched a cable from my add in card that goes to my multichannel receiver for my speakers and I got stereo right away, Happy but pissed as I spent hours on this last night. Weird thing is the cables that would not work on the on board sound card work perfectly on the add in creative z card. Now I have to tackle the Asio driver install as that still will not work. 1
Mtnbiker1998 Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 Seems like the P-51 Payload discharge effect doesn't seem to be working. Everything else in the P-51 feels ok, and the other planes I tested have all their payload effects. Not sure if this is a bug with IL-2 or Simshaker (I'm guessing IL-2) But I wasn't sure where to post this. 1

scottike Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 I'm trying to decide where to mount my two bass shakers. I'll either mount them on the left and right of the seat or one on the seat and one on the back. Are there many stereo effects that provide useful information such as damage on a particular side or if one wing is in a deeper stall?
Andre Posted June 12, 2021 Author Posted June 12, 2021 Damage is left-right separated, but stall is not. 1
javelina Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 (edited) really interested in adding this for my IL-2. I've been using Simshaker for Aviators and Simshaker Sound Module with my Buttkicker and DCS just fine. I downloaded the Simshaker for Wings to "demo" it, and followed the configuration instructions. When I start up IL-2 I see that Simshaker for Wings is enabled, but it won't let me select a sound card. That part of the configuration menu remains greyed out. Plus, I cannot select the buttkicker radio button without getting an error message that Simshaker for Wings can't access a file in my users/documents/simshaker-wings FXs/audio/..... Not sure what is up. Edited July 3, 2021 by javelina

Charlo-VRde Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 I am a big fan of SimShaker and the JetPad! I'm considering posting the following to the "Technical Issues and Bug Reports" forum, "Video and sound settings" thread at What do you think? Brief description: A20 sound vibration output to software such as SimShaker Wings cuts out Detailed description, conditions: While flying in an A20, MP or SP, if you switch to a gunner position, then switch back to the pilot position, eventually the sound vibration output that is read by SimShaker Wings and sent to a Buttkicker, a Jetpad, etc. is cut off. The A20 sounds themselves still work fine in speakers and headphones, it's just the sound output to SimShaker Wings stops. Restarting SimShaker Wings brings back the sound vibration output. FYI, in the previous version of SimShaker Wings this used to also happen when flying the A20 for 15 minutes, even without switching to a gunner position. Your PC config data (OS, drivers, specific software): Windows 10, SimShaker Wings 2.5, see my signature for full hardware details

Panzerlang Posted July 5, 2021 Posted July 5, 2021 I reported this a long time ago (as did others) and it's with any plane; for whatever odd reason the vibes gradually faded away, would come back, fade again and etc. It pretty much mirrored what would happen when running the butt-kicker directly from the game's sounds too so I think it's something in the game itself that causes it. 1

I found the Buttkickers would cut out while the Jetseat kept working and then eventually the Buttkickers would start working again. Turns out my problem was that the Buttkickers were overheating and triggering a thermal safety cut-off, and once they cool off they start working again. I spoke to Customer Support with Buttkicker and they confirmed this was a problem with long continuous sounds/vibrations (can you say - props on cruise rpms). The solution was simply to turn down the Buttkickers. Probably the easiest way to tell if this is your issue is to touch the Buttkicker when it turns off - if it is hot to the touch, that's the issue. 1

You mean the amplifier I presume (re over-heating)? So maybe a replacement amp, for one that reliably does what it's supposed to.
Varibraun Posted July 5, 2021 Posted July 5, 2021 10 minutes ago, Hetzer-JG51 said: You mean the amplifier I presume (re over-heating)? Actually, its the transducer that was overheating. They have good customer support and we worked on the issue by switching amps (since I have 2) just to be sure it wasn't a defective part. From what I recall, their explanation was that they were designed for more up/down sounds rather than the continuous drone vibration of a cruising a/c. For me, it was simply turning the amps down just a bit (my amp settings are approx 80 on the frequency and 5 clicks to volume - if I go up to 7 clicks on volume, I risk overheating). 1
Panzerlang Posted July 5, 2021 Posted July 5, 2021 Thanks VB, I've hooked it all back up and am trying it again (sound trigger only, which seems to be working decently at the moment). I'm checking the transducer with my hand to see how hot it becomes (and how quickly). It's a fine point between the green light and enough vibration vs the red clipping light coming on.
Panzerlang Posted July 5, 2021 Posted July 5, 2021 Nuts, it stopped vibrating in the middle of a mission. Neither the transducer or amp were hot. I got little tremors thereafter but mostly gone. I've removed it again and now consider it permanently retired.

1./KG4_EKat Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 Hi Andre, I'm having the same or similar problem as Javelina in that my SimShaker-Wings software isn't working with my soundcard. This occurred when I upgraded to 2.5 stable from 2.12. I'm also using a buttkicker. I can select the Bass-Shakers group and cam pick the sound card from the pick list. However, it remains grayed-out after selection. The following error is reported: 22:29:53.781 SimShaker-Wings | version 2.5 22:29:53.782 NaudioPlaybackEngine: could not initialize playback device. Audio subsystem is temporarily disabled. Exception from HRESULT: 0x88890008 I'm presuming this is also a problem with my anti-virus. I've tried adding the user/documents path and the SimShaker-Wings path to my A/V software's allow/exceptions list. Perhaps those aren't correct for my audio problem?
1./KG4_EKat Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 Never mind Andre. Problem is now solved. Honestly, I think my problem was the need to pick the correct sound card with SimShaker-Wings. I had forgotten that my Soundblaster Z PCI card seems to work best with SimShaker (and not my MB's RealTek audio chip). Also, getting the pick list to drop with a mouseover is a little fidgety on my PC. And maybe it was the path's allowed in A/V software. Maybe all that. 1
TheWarsimmer Posted July 12, 2021 Posted July 12, 2021 Does anyone know the proper formatting of custom wav files? On the website it specifically says to create 48,000 16bit pcm wavs in audacity, but that makes the bitrate 768 kbps... I've noticed the default base wav files are all 1536kbps, which would make it 32 bit. It also seems like there is no telemetry for touchdowns, and instead simshaker seems to reference ground bumps? I'm curious more than anything.

Hence, having in case of the SimShaker Wings 32-bit float, 48 kHz format and different number of channels we get different bitrate values: 1 channel - 1536 kbps 2 channels - 3072 kbps 6 channels - 9216 kbps Touchdown and ground bumps effects rely on the shock absorbers compression. 1

I see. So 32 bit wav. I had been trying to amplify the gain of the touchdown through audacity, and noticed there was a touchdown_all.wav in the base files, but they never seem to be called up in the verbose log files. I did see a lot of ground bumps being called up though.

After reading the advice from @Varibraun about turning down the frequency and output intensity of the Buttkicker, I did that and ran both the Buttkicker and the JetPad together, and I haven't experienced the issue I posted since then. So, keeping the Buttkicker's High Cutoff Frequency down between 70 and 80 and also keeping the intensity low, though still enough to vibrate from the engine beats, keeps the Buttkicker cool, and the SimShaker telemetry output doesn't fade or cut out in any of the planes any more.
