KG3_Trozz Posted November 30, 2019 Posted November 30, 2019 I am interested in getting a VR headset for FC, I am sure it must look awesome. I was wondering what you guys all use. Any info at all would be very helpful, ..especially interested in hearing from people who wear prescription glasses and do VR, I do not see well at all without my glasses. Thanks in advance, Salute!
the_dudeWG Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 (edited) Hi, SeanD. I have the Odyssey+ and I don’t have any problems using the headset without my reading glasses. I’m not sure if it’s the same for those who are short-sighted. Anyway, I don’t feel I can offer a completely honest review of VR due to my system being a bit too weak for VR (i7-3770k & GTX1060). I knew I would need to upgrade my pc eventually, but I will say that my experience with VR has been positive enough to convince me to hurry up and spend the extra money for a really great system. The immersion is fantastic and you can really feel the speed and altitude of your aircraft, and for me, landings are way easier in VR. I just miss the resolution you get with a monitor. My graphic settings are pretty low, so I’ll be thrilled once I have my new system up and running. I’m guessing it might be a little painful to make the switch to VR from a 34” 4K monitor. Hope that helps! S! Edit: I just watched a YouTube video today on the subject of VR and flight sims. You might find it interesting. Edited December 3, 2019 by the_dudeWG

Thanks in advance, Salute! @YoYo is right on this, because it does not matter what BoX version you have. Only keep in your mind the VR effects in FC are not as subtle compared to the WW2 BoX series, as it looks that Yugro “media design buro“ (that did made FC) does not have an VR headset to test it. Maybe for FC vol2, @Jason_Williams could give an VR headset as an Christmas present to Yugra Media . ? Edited December 3, 2019 by Dutch2
OrLoK Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 FC looks great to me in VR. I've not tried with glasses but im very short sighted in my right eye and still have fun! Rift S.
the_dudeWG Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 FYI - it’s not even possible for me to wear glasses in the Odyssey+ headset (the frame fits, but the O+ lenses are too close to my eyes so the lenses touch). I guess it’s not too expensive to have prescription lenses made for your VR headset though. How cool is that? https://widmovr.com
Todt_Von_Oben Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 (edited) I bought a used Rift. I need reading glasses and the Zenni company makes round lenses; other people (check online) provide a plastic frame adapter for the Rift headset that's 3D printed to order. Altogether, I spent about $50 for the lenses and adapter frame. My rift is the old original type and it works fine, but I hear the new Rift S has better graphics with less screen-door effect. I haven't tried the S but if those qualities are improved, that would be better than mine. VR is awesome but graphic quality is important. Shop around. You can find bargains. There might even be a used Rift S on eBay now where you can save some money. Otherwise, check something like Amazon for the best price. I think the S is about $399 now. I paid almost $300 for my used Rift. If I was going to buy now, I'd get the Rift S. Still gonna be a few hundred bucks but you'll get better graphic quality. Good luck with your project. ADDIT: Make sure your computer has the power to run the VR headset before you commit to buying. I had to upgrade mine after the purchase and was lucky I could otherwise I'd have needed another computer. Edited December 3, 2019 by Todt_Von_Oben

Because in my case, I do have minus, there is no problem on my O+. Another solution would be the use of eye lenses. If being from Europe you could check Specsavers €19,- for an simple frame and glasses until €299,- for exclusive designer models.
