1CGS zeus-- Posted June 20, 2014 1CGS Posted June 20, 2014 Very nice. Are you going to add any improvised road airstrips? No, we plan to do only ordinary airfields and maybe we'll make airfields on a frozen surface of lakes:
Brano Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Hi Zeus, Is there a chance that your map will be released during Beta phase? I would gladly pay for it as add-on.Very good quality and also very well chosen area of operations.I am looking forward for your next work. With guys like you a feel confident that mapmaking will bloom in BoS
1CGS zeus-- Posted June 20, 2014 1CGS Posted June 20, 2014 Is there a chance that your map will be released during Beta phase? Fist of all we want to finish test-section so-calling "Novosokolniki map" (51x51km) and present it for common access. Whole map of Velikie Luki (170x100km) is not redy yet.
LLv34_Flanker Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 S! Another show of creativity the flight sim community has Will be nice to one day fly on that map
MarcoRossolini Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 No, we plan to do only ordinary airfields and maybe we'll make airfields on a frozen surface of lakes: If there's one place I would NOT want to take off from, it's a frozen lake...
LLv34_Flanker Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 S! Why not? Finns used frozen lakes as air bases. Hard to spot and easy to repair, just let it freeze again :D
1CGS zeus-- Posted June 20, 2014 1CGS Posted June 20, 2014 If there's one place I would NOT want to take off from, it's a frozen lake... Historically german airfield near Izocha (there based Fw190) was located on the frozen lake Bolshoi Ivan. It`s 22km south of Novosokolniki and we plan to model it on full map of Velikie Luki.
1CGS zeus-- Posted June 29, 2014 1CGS Posted June 29, 2014 We're getting closer and closer to the end of the work on the test map of Novosokolniki. Novosokolniki at 4:00 pm 2
LLv34_Flanker Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 S! Looks very nice, Zeus Only thing hampering this very nice map are the drawing distance and LOD issues that BoS has
Rivet Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Absolutely stunning work! Very very impressive. Kudos to you and your team.
Dakpilot Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Looking Great! Thanks for all the hard work Cheers Dakpilot
Veteran66 Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 new Trees, thx Zeus, will be this conifers in the Stalingrad Map too?
Wind Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 (edited) Looking awesome Zeus! A quick (and dumb´ish) question : Does the digital nature engine support any kind of shadows cast by trees/buildings? I mean, it could be damn resource intensive but at the moment the lack of shadows especially around buildings make things look a bit bland. Not doing any snide commentary towards the devs, just curious as I am not that familiar with how the gfx engine works. Apparently the clouds cast shadows on the ground but are the ground objects excluded? Edited for typos.. Edited July 14, 2014 by Wind
FuriousMeow Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 (edited) RoF's trees and buildings have shadows. They won't have shadows when clouds are casting their shadows on them. They may not have been turned on in BoS, but it can be done. EDIT: Trees and objects have shadows. Edited July 14, 2014 by FuriousMeow
Wind Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 RoF's trees and buildings have shadows. They won't have shadows when clouds are casting their shadows on them. They may not have been turned on in BoS, but it can be done. Thx Miaow! Checked out few shots from stalingrad map and it seemed in many pictures that the buildings were "floating", like when you lack the shadows so the base of the building looks weird...well...like it would be floating on air. Thought that some kind of global illumination with warm color temperatures from the sun + cold color temps in the shadows from the blue sky might be to brutal for processing. Now that I look at the latest Zeus´s screencap properly the trees and fences does cast shadows. Obviously they are not optimized for closer inspection as the game is a flight sim, like they are not like from arma III. Wonder, If I may, does the DN engine support different color temperatures for the shadows? Like you can have that really warm light from setting sun and then the cold blue hues in the shadow areas? Seen some nice pics in the screencap thread but never thought that closely about the topic..
Brano Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 new Trees, thx Zeus, will be this conifers in the Stalingrad Map too? IMO Stalingrad steppe area is not suitable place for conifers to grow.Maybe only if planted intentionaly by humans.
Veteran66 Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 IMO Stalingrad steppe area is not suitable place for conifers to grow.Maybe only if planted intentionaly by humans. oh yes you are right, i look for some better area pictures they show some small deciduous tree forest with poplar trees.
Duckman Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Cool! Kuban sounds like a doable way to continue the series. Here's hoping.
1CGS zeus-- Posted July 24, 2014 1CGS Posted July 24, 2014 8:15 AM in the forest... Somewhere near Nevel-city 4
LuftManu Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 (edited) Incredible!!!!!!!! Reminds me of the Trees in the RTS game Men of War, Nice work zeus! This will be a good start for Bos. Edited July 24, 2014 by Manu_vc
Dakpilot Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Appreciate all the hard work Looking forward to experience the Map, to have this extra potential so long before actual game release is very encouraging, thanks to all the team Cheers Dakpilot
LLv44_Mprhead Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 This is really looking good, and it will be very nice to get a map where also 190 actually belongs
JG4_Sputnik Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Awesome pics! BTW Why are there no fir trees in BoS standard map?
LLv44_Mprhead Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Awesome pics! BTW Why are there no fir trees in BoS standard map? I think that maybe there wasn't that many fir trees in Stalingrad region. Those mixed forest are more typical up north and mountainous areas in Caucasus. In my understanding anyway.
