TheSNAFU Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 (edited) I am admiring (and using) many of the P51D skins so skillfully recreated by the great skinners here. Is there any thoughts of doing 12 planes in the skins of each of the P51D squadrons included in PWCG Bodenplatte? I’m actually using Bugsy’s squadron skins in a PWCG campaign. Love and fly Crack of Dawn! Edited November 3, 2019 by TheSNAFU

Yankee_One Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Thats a great skin. Love it! Well done. Like the yellow lines on the national markings! Fantastic! 1
JGr2/J5_W0LF- Posted December 11, 2019 Author Posted December 11, 2019 (edited) OK Gents This skin was done by request, I gave you 4 different versions that you can choose from. It's the 343rd FS "GUNFIGHTER", flown by Brig. General Reg Urschler. Gunfighter is one of the world’s most famous P-51s, appearing on the airshow circuit and providing rides for over 35 years. The aircraft is a P-51 "D" model, serial number 44-73264. Of the approximately 15,000 P-51s produced in World War II, over 8,000 were “D” models. Today, only about 150 airworthy examples of Mustangs exist worldwide in museums, flying, or under restoration. Gunfighter was built in the Inglewood, California, North American plant and accepted into the USAAF in March 1945. It was then shipped to England, where it was assigned to the famous “Mighty Eighth” Air Force. In July 1945, after the war ended in Europe, it was returned to the U.S. and assigned to Olmstead Field in Pennsylvania. In 1947, it was transferred to the Air National Guard and thereafter served with units in Wyoming, New Mexico, Illinois, and Kentucky. In 1956, it was declared surplus and sold on the civilian market. Today, Gunfighter is operated by the Commemorative Air Force (CAF). The CAF is the largest operator of historic aircraft in the world with 160 aircraft and over 9,000 members. JGr2/J5_W0LF- Posted December 11, 2019 Author Posted December 11, 2019 (edited) OK Gents here's another from the 352nd FG, its the "Little Rebel", flown by Charles "Buck" Pattillo of the 486th FS. Cuthbert “Bill” Pattillo and his twin brother Charles “Buck” Pattillo were born in Atlanta, GA on 3 June 1924, just a few minutes apart. Both men enlisted in the US Army Air Corps in November 1942, and learned to fly the P-40 Warhawk, receiving their commissions in March 1944. They soon joined the 352ndFG based in Bodney, England. Bill took his place in the 487thFS and Buck in in the 486th. Bill flew a P-51D named “Sweet & Lovely”. He flew 35 combat mission in the P-51, claiming a ME-262 aerial victory and destroying another six enemy fighters on the ground. Buck completed 37 combat missions in his Mustang, “Little Rebel”. He became an “Ace in a Day” destroying five enemy fighters on the ground on 16 April 1945. The Army Air Corps credited air-to-ground victories similarly to air-to-air victories at this point in the war. The brothers flew and fought together until Bill was shot down on a ground attack mission over Straubing, Germany on 16 April 1945. He belly landed his Mustang in a nearby field and became a prisoner of war. Thankfully the war ended a few weeks later and Bill regained his freedom. spitfirejoe Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 Hello Bugsy, thank you soooo much Buddy for doing the GUNFIGHTER, that is one of my top favorite skins for a P-51, because I had a scale 1:5 size full composite very scale flying P-51 with the GUNFIGHTER livery, which I crashed years ago unfortunately. It was so scale, I was able to open the canopy with my remote Control and after opened the Pilot puppet was waving his right hand. So happy you did the GUNFIGHTER.
JGr2/J5_W0LF- Posted December 13, 2019 Author Posted December 13, 2019 Your more then welcome my friend, Enjoy!
