Added invasion stripes. Fixed the stencils. Twerked a few markings. Each has unique camo patterns. Now I need to update with the latest template.

Wartime photos that I've found don't show the writing on the P-51D, it's only seen on the earlier P-51.

I was thinkin' about it. I build scale models, and my last one was a Mustang from the 357th. I used putty over the lines, using this same illustration you shared.

[ANNOUNCEMENT]

 

I have begun the research phase of my very large 374th FS skin pack. I am only doing the P-51D skins. We do not have the P-51B....right now =o). I have already amassed numerous photos and Aircraft roster data complete with pilot info, serial numbers, codes and nose art scripts. I think it will turn out pretty authentic when I am done. Keep an eye out. I will post the first skin in here very soon.

Ok so I did some color corrections on my personal skins. I got some work done on more detailed prop stencils and weathering. I made some shiny glass for the cockpit instruments and gunsight (from external view not in the cockpit view). I really hope this was a fluke and will disappear but I seem to have got some sort of bug after modding the texture file for the prop and cockpit.

To all of those that have downloaded my skins Lou IV/Athelene and E2 S

I changed the name of Lou IV/Athelene. It had a spelling error in it. Make sure to remove the old and install the new! 

Secondly, I updated a few other elements that should make the skin just that bit more realistic.

You can get the correctly named and fixed versions by downloading the same file again here.

 

With that, I also finished my new skin "Big Beautiful Doll". Don't wait any longer and get it in my museum! (both with Hakenkreuz or with replacement Hakenkreuz)

Thanks for the template, so naturally one has to make ones self a 3 Sq RAAF skin doesn't one.

 

 

Removed the original pic' as it was just an early WIP (even now not totally satisfied).......... but here it is doing a little train spotting over Brussels.

I was working on Cripe A'mighty but had to put it on hold due to being busy with trying to enlist in the military.

Thought I'd make a camouflaged Pony used by 19 Squadron RAF. No Mustang Mk IV's were used by 2nd TAF it appears, though quite a few 
Mustang III's were. Some RAF Mk IV's were used to escort shipping strikes across the North Sea.

 

I'm going to change the Dark Green, I'll take it from the Tempest skin and I need to make the Sqn codes "from scratch", the Arial font is close but not "square" enough.

Probably opening a new project and pasting there the layer with the camo pattern, then exporting. That way I could just drop it and use as a new layer. Might be a better way tho.

Try these RAF True Type Fonts, some are good for codes and some are good for serial numbers.

 

To install, go into Windows "Control Panel" then "Fonts" and it should give you the option to install a new font. You just point it to where you saved the font and they should appear with all your other fonts.

Hi Pict, thanks for these fonts, they'll work with the USAAF aircraft as well, only trouble is that although Windows has them installed and I can use the fonts in Paint,  Gimp doesn't "find them"?!
