Spawn killing is oke when  you want to take the flag or capture a base  , not to get some points on your list .

 

Take a tank and try to beat me on the field , not when i spawn ......direct a bomb on my roof ... thats a little gay !

This is for Worm regarding the M2 map:

 

Had a frustrating experience against the 52K gun yesterday on the M2 map around the town of Perehozhaya.

 

The 52K gun that spawns in there after Red captures the town exhibits "SUPERHUMAN" ai even if it's only set at NORMAL ai.   The gun can attack and kill any and all available Panzers that leave Pz base 1 even before the player gains sight of the town.  I was killed out as far as the upper part of the 1 on the 0311 letters of the map when I was driving out there in an effort to get far east of the town.  I was killed a number of times just cresting the hill on the road that leads to the town.

 

The gun is not visible to the player yet can apparently see the player through woods, and houses.

 

I realize this phenomena is par for the course in this game, and that the ai does this routinely.  I accept that, but wonder if the 52K gun is really a good choice for that location, or if it wouldn't be better to have a less devastating Zis gun instead and limit the 52K to air defense only.  It seems to me that the 52K gun is just too awesome a weapon that makes approaching Perehozhay EXTREMELY difficult and VERY frustrating.  It's bad enough when it sits there alone to be taken on, but the difficulty is almost exponential when there's an enemy player lurking about as well.

 

I haven't had experience against the Flak 37 88 that spawns in whe Blue takes the town, but expect the problems are the same.

 

It's my opinion and recommendation that the the 52K and 37 Flak guns be limited to AAA mode and a suitable Pak and Zis gun be placed for ground defense.  As an alternative, I recommend setting the Ai to LOW instead of NORMAL, but suspect it still may be extremely effective.  I don't know, but think it would be worth experimenting to see.

 

If it's your intent to make this map SUPER difficult, then you've certainly achieved your goal.  I would appreciate hearing your response regarding this.

I agree. I will make sure that anti-aircraft guns 52K and 37 flak do not shoot at tanks ... (only on the airfields ..)

The Server needs restarting started having problems yesterday and unable to join today ! I've cleaned my  files

EFront switched to the old T34 and PZ3 temporarily because the new ones are able to let the AI take controll of the whole crew!
Hopefully it gets fixed soon)

I'm losing the plot with the pilots.

Just now I wanted to join the Moscow mission (Pere. , forest) which had just started. There were 5 red planes on, and 1 blue tank.

In the days when the missions contained Tigers, there was some logic to having more red than blue planes, but under the current conditions this isn't the case.

How is this supposed to be fun for anyone?

5 red planes can't take a base. 1 blue tank can take all the bases, but it has no red tanks to fight, and has to scurry from cover to cover, which isn't much fun.

Under those conditions, you stare at the map wondering which side to join. Join red and you're just reinforcing the side that already has overwhelming power. Join blue and you're just adding a second tank, scurrying for cover.

Tankers may not generally join the weaker side, but at least they see some necessity in balance, because if all join on one side, they have nobody to fight.

The pilots OTOH don't seem to look for (flying) opposition, they seem happy to all join on one side, because they want to bomb tanks and don't enjoy having to deal with enemy fighters.

Aaargh! ?

Remove all tanks except free ones was bad idea. Better to do 2-3 maps with open fields where AI gunner doesn't affect gameplay too much.

Personally, I agree with that.

So, the best way out of the situation is to shut down the server ... Do not mess it up (for your own), but just kill ... Until the manufacturers of this hear us .... it'sGo ..

I believe that until the network game has the ability to disable AI, the game will not ...

No need to jump from one extreme to the other. You always can remove tigers from map.

PS - imo high accuracy of gunner is not the problem itself. Many players can fire pretty well as AI do. Problem is that fact that AI can see things what player can't see. That's real problem.

I increased my internet speed just to be able to play online. Before it was perfect, but the pandemic drop my connection to only 40% of what it was before.

Any chance to make the ping limit bigger?

Also... WorM, could you turn the "Zabu" map into a dogfight map with more Bodenplatte planes available?

It's great that the latest update, it seems, solved the AI targeting issue and EFront has been able to put the newer tanks back into the missions.

 

On the bad news side of things, I've started a thread "Ping over limit from aircraft strafing", which it seems is a problem which hasn't been prevalent recently (I remember it from many versions ago).

Today on a mission Keben was asking about ping and Xobot said there's no ping limit (on the game server). So I guess this must be a problem with the new game version.

The problem is that players are exploiting the new issue.

When a fighter pilot realized that he can get other players kicked just by strafing, this gives the player superpowers so to speak.

It's like having a fighter plane that's also a Jabo, but without the weight penalty of actually having to carry rockets or bombs or cannon pods.

Today, I was sure that a player was exploiting this bug in the netcode systematically, I won't name any names, and then I quit the mission.

I can only appeal to a sense of fairness in the players. If this happens again I will just quit. There's no point being on the server if people exploit netcode issues.

Hello everyone!
I will try to answer the last two messages at once.
There are ping restrictions on the server, now the maximum ping is 250 (it used to be more).
Perhaps the XOBOT did not understand the message ...

If you put more maximum ping, then for players with a small ping it will not be comfortable games because of the big difference in pings (yes, plus packet loss if the connection is not stable).

I explained it badly.

The effect I'm describing is I believe not the real ping between client and server, but the ping perceived by the application (not sure whether client or game server).

For instance, my actual ping to your server is usually not bad, not even close to 250.

But when my tank has been hit, and there are flames inside, something happens in the application (to do with bad netcode) which causes the 'bad ping' message to be shown, and the player to be kicked.

That's not just myself, we can observe that with many players, a tank has been hit, often with the '... destroyed' message, you see smoke or even flames, and after a few seconds later there's a message that the player has been kicked. With flames, it has been like that since many versions.

I generally don't get too upset about that, because in such a case, the mission is over anyway. The difference is merely in the additional time it takes to get back onto the server.

 

The new thing (maybe new bug) is that the same effect happend to me yesterday as a result of being strafed by small caliber (maybe 20mm) fighter plane ammo. The next time it happens I will try to have task manager running, to see whether anything gets maxxed out in this case. What's bad about this variant is that a fighter plane which usually wouldn't be able to hurt the tank, can 'kill' the tank by getting it kicked from the server.

Make Zarubovka for dogfight. Put more BOBP planes, to call pilots attention.

Hello everyone. The game lacks players, but I think that in the coming days we will have more people playing online.
I would like to make some suggestions.

First.

The Americans used bases in Ukraine to attack the germans and romanians with bombs using the P-38 escorted by P-51.


Third suggestion. Download the WOL mission that takes place in the fall of 1943, the "Kerch–Eltigen Operation". You could delete some airports and add tank bases to that map.

Hi guys...

Does anyone have difficulty doing mission objectives? I think novice players have a lot of difficulty with maps that we already know well.

The veteran players, which are us ... already know where the anti-tank weapons are hidden, we fly and we can destroy those weapons that are under the trees, hidden ...

Cannons fire from a distance with invisible ammunition. Efront maps can be easy for us ... but for new players who don't fly and just want tanks, it can be really hard. 

I start a mission, take a flight and recorded. Then I leave the server and watch the replay to find out where the anti-tank weapons are hidden to go back with a plane and destroy them. It is a thing I would not like to do, but I need in order to not die by an anti-tank weapon that is literally impossible to see.

I personally believe, that the bases should have a minimum number of defenses, cannons visible and that use tracer ammo. And machine guns too, next to the defences of the base.

We'll see how many I'm going to kill tomorrow after deactivating the grass and shadows. I think I lost 3x kills today because the grass is terrible. I made this poll.

I can see the grass being an issue. But shadows? How?

For planes inside the cockpit the shadow can distract during dogfight and below a cloud the visibility became too dark.

Guys, I really like playing with you all.
Of course, I want to see EFront become popular and full all the time.
I completed a mission on the new map, "Velieki", and found that there is no need to capture any more flags, just destroy the ground objectives and stay in the base territory. My team was also surprised by this rule, they didn't know how it worked.

You guys like to play as a team, I understand that you have become "virtual brothers in arms".
However ... I ask you to consider one thing. You play as a team and "Rus" has the mission and objective map in his head. It is a "fast" victory with "insider information", missions brief do explain the rules of victory, but I dont think most players undestain.

And then you complete these objectives quickly, knowing "where to attack and how to win". The enemy team you face usually (noobs haha) don't understand how missions work, even with the short brief in the map.  Meantime I think it's right for you to play together, you are friends, you want to win. But, I want you to consider that these "victories" are really something good.

The game is not just about "winning". You could play against each other, but you won't because you became friends. But this creates a very large imbalance in the player experience and teams.

Try to compete with each other too, to promote balance. If possible.

Doesn't it say in briefing that you have to capture certain towns and there are no flags? I might be wrong...

I think I never had a briefing.

I believe that the server host has mission description in russian and english only....No french or chinese.Sorry.

Yes and I can understand it easily. But, would it be possible to put the text of the English briefing in the French briefing file?

New update is coming and probably the AA truck.
Would it be possible to allocate the GAZ-MM 72-K (25mm) to the Red and Blue team at the same time? The Blue team could use it with some blocked skin, winter for example, or some different camouflage locked only for the blues. That way we gona have AA on both teams.

Ways to improve EFront.

 

1) Bases should not be next to flags. Close is good, but not too close. The experience of having the base attacked without being able to "spawn" creates a bad experience for players.

 

2) Mission objectives need to be simple with an informative map. I know the server maps, I know how to capture those secret bases that are not on the map because I have experience. A novice player will get lost, players like simple rules with goals that change the dynamics of the game.

 

3) Copy missions from other servers to modify to your liking. Everyone does it. Mixing missions is a way to be creative too.
