T-34 2018 Movie

This looks good

From what I've seen it is comically over the top (excessive use of slow-mo) and greatly exaggerates the T-34's capabilities . . . . . . But it looks like awesome fun.

This trailer looks like some 1950s Soviet extreme propaganda with mythical T-34 connected with Hollywood unbelievable special effects. But maybe it's just a trailer.

Its terrible! It was pain to watch this. There are some nice shots, but overall.....pffff

Its the same crap like Fury movie only from the Russian side.

I haven't seen this one, but judging by the trailer it is one of those over the top war movies. The kind of fun popcorn movies that get lambasted for not being historical docudramas that it was never supposed to be. White Tiger is another movie that looks kind of like this one, a bit older so less slowmo and cool-guy digital effects, very much in the same vein as this one. It is about a magical Tiger tank that does impossible things and the Soviet tank crew that is tasked with killing it lead by a man that can talk to tanks by touching them because he was set on fire that one time. It sounds goofy and over the top but is actually a good watch.

Such films remind me of Goebbels' propaganda films: purely emotional distortion of truth, overpowering you with rousing music.

Such films have nothing to do with real wars.

Red Tails anyone?  How about Fly Boys?  Awesome to see a 110 HP Nieuport go vertical like an F-22.  Fun to watch an Me262 make a head on pass with a P-51 - hitting the pilot - only to be blown out of the air.  Ground crew must have swapped his 4x 30mm for pellet guns.  Oh, and the head on pass with a closure rate approaching 900 MPH takes about 10 seconds .

Is that the revisionist SS cosplay movie that tried to rebrand one of the most notorious units as a bunch of innocent hardworking Joes who’s only crime was looking really really kewl?

Looks like good fun, it's entertainment for goodness sake.

Not a documentary.

Compared to this Fury may as well have been a documentary. This movie is way over the top like Red Tails.

Ok, fury is slightly better, but its a awful anyway .

I watched a different bit of footage which was better than the trailer posted here. But the movie looked like a joke. Another slow-motion-fest Russian film with stupid bass booms and CGI up the ying yang.

Fury was realistic enough despite the inaccuracies. Overall it was a decent war movie compared to some others.

The Tiger scene was probably the most inaccurate part of the whole movie imo, but there were some other scenes that were pretty bad.

I just realized seeing this that a movie solely focusing on tank battles would be stupid expensive.

Like if just 15% of the movie was exposition and the rest was filled with so much combat you'd thought the sky was on fire.

I wish someone was dumb brave enough to bankrupt himself to make such a movie.

It'd be glorious.

Sorry, I cant agree with you. I really dont like the movie. Some scenes was so tragic, it was painfull to watch.(mainly the opening and the ending). Its comedy.

I've never quite been able to wrap my head around people who can't just watch a dumb war movie for what it is. Or even a not dumb, but totally inaccurate, war movie. Apocalypse now comes to mind. None of that movie is true or real or even all that close to any of the events of the Vietnam War, but it is still a really good movie. It would be one thing if all these movies were saying that they are historic truth but most of these are just stories set against a historic back drop and never set themselves up to be anything but that. It is like getting mad at Pocahontas for having raccoons that understand people and literal painting with the wind.

Red Tails is the very worst I have ever seen, and I tend to use it as a yardstick to judge all others by.  It is the only film I have ever sat through where I actually had to turn the sound off because the script and dialogue were so bad.  The people responsible should have been beaten with a stick.

Please,

watch the Movie called "Airstrike" with Bruce Willis. This is the worst movie. Compared to this, you will love Red Tails.

No mate, he has got it absolutely right... the film was total pants, garbage even... Don't get me wrong, I love a good war/adventure story, but RedTails was just cringeworthy...

Well i enjoyed it as i wasn't expecting a blow by blow documentary of the USAAF and it's treatment of their black pilots.

Some nice air combat scenes and some comedy banter between the pilots.

What's not to like, while munching on a bucket of popcorn.

P-51s taking loads of 30 mm cannon fire and just shrugging it off?

When Cuck Lucas accidentally copys Star Wars X-Wing Performances into P51s.

Maybe after all it was a good idea that Disney took control of Star Wars. I know they failed a few films(especially ep.7-8) but also made good ones like Rogue one. : )

Not Mike.

Basically how I feel, I watch movies for fun, if I wanted accuracy I'd watch a documentary.

But when the thing you are watching fails so completely.  Not just as an aviation film, but as a piece of cinema.  What then?

Criticizing a movie for being bad is one thing. But a lot of people are criticizing fiction for not being factual. It would be like criticizing Van Goth for not being animated.

I don't know buddy, i can only say what i think and feel.

Red Tails was on the telly here a few days back and i enjoyed it.

In regards the recent Dunkirk film, i thought it was ok.

But give me the b&w Dunkirk from 1958, with John Mills. Before the new one anytime.

All comes down to personal preference, like everything in life.

It's a crap film that doesn't exactly do the story of the real pilots any favors. The true story of those guys is compelling enough in its own right - it doesn't need P-51s absorbing cannon fire like sponges and P-40s turning like Zeros to make it a good story.

You say it's a crap film @LukeFF

I disagree, we can go around in circles all day.

But i prefer to agree to disagree.

I think every Star Wars film ever made, is a pile of crude.

But obviously millions of people have enjoyed them over the years.

Who is right and who is wrong ?

Ask and ye shall receive!

Red Tails is dross, bordering on offensive. ANH is a solid adventure movie. ESB is one of the best films ever made. Other than that, I'm pretty much done with star wars.

The ACTUAL best film ever made, however, is Bubba Ho-Tep. Bruce Campbell as Elvis, teaming up with JFK, to fight a mummy in an old peoples home? You can't beat that.
