I think thats in the alpha layer try to blend the lighter color into the darker color..

It's the alpha channel, you have to edit it.

Pull up the Alpha layer in your paint program and then where you see the US insignia just change the color to match the surrounding wing color....you may have to play around with the brightness or darkness of the lighter shade to get the right match but once you do save it and then try again in game to see the difference.  Dont forget to replace the smaller dark circle for the new Italian symbol though, Sorry but most of this skinning stuff is trail and error.

I have one more skin to redo with the Alpha layer and Ill re-post all the skins in a new post....They look fantastic now!

Well they were second hand USA planes... So I guess that some USA markings or badges should make the skin even more historical! Very nice skin bythe way. I'll like more matt black instead of olive green on the engine cowling and wings...

I have to say that unfortunately I just noticed that they started operating with the Italian Air Force since 1950. During WW2 we used Spitfires MkV and Airacobras only.

OK Gents,

Here's the skins completely re-done with all areas of paint matted to plane. I think they came out great. Enjoy!

 

Just download and install and when it asks to overwrite just say "YES".

Bugsy, you're churning them out brother. Nice work, and so glad you figured out the alpha layer in Gimp. I hope I can finish these emblems before next weekend so I can get back into skinning these babies.

 

You and I need to get together sometime on my Teamspeak. Maybe I can set up a Googledoc for us to plan out skin packs for these guys. You demonstrated you talent to me and your work ethic on getting things done. I'd like to work with you and maybe create a skinning team with two other artists.

Hi,

I think it will be better if you edit the alpha channel:

- open the alpha.psd provided by ICDP.

- turn off US markings

- copy your paint work

- paste it over the alpha.psd

- turn it black/grey.

- copy this over the alpha channel of your P-47D28_5.psd file
