Strix1024 Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 Hello all, My next request for a possible skin is <4 from Stab. JG 301. Of particular interest to me are the red streaks (of primer?) and the bare metal paneling under the wings. Thank you! Spoiler 1

Watch out for the coming Carpet bombing ! ? Shame that we can't still retrofit our A-8s with the blown hood ! 1 2 1
fw190_luftwurgerfan Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 Thank you so much! Your skins are fantastic. Love the FW-190s. 1
Madcop Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 WHAT ? Do you mean that we'll have to wait until the 20th of March to get a new Wurger.... Achtung Kamerad, to go on strike in Cottbus or in other F.W factory is "Streng Verboten "..... If you do not change your mind "sofort" we will have to report to Herr A.Speer ! and you could as well finish your days in a far, remote and freezing place on the East Front trying to skin with frozen fingers.... . Is this "einverstanden " my friend ? 2

AFAIK no FW of JG5 made their way to Germany in april 45. They were all destroyed and if not , blown up by the British troops in Norway. Soldiers near the airraft don't look like Tommies...Looking at the pic and at Sundin profile, they both match. Just my 2 cents. As for JG26, at the time of the pic (April 45), all 4 groups were already flying 190D-9. Of course I could be wrong but ... Just my 2 cents. I am pretty sure Julian is going , as usual, give us an alternative ...but he could as well keep it like that. He is still the boss. Have a nice day. Madcop

Madcop Madcop, I can see well that Yanks are on the remainings of the plane... But in the chaos of arial survival of 45 - heaven knows where could end up landing FW-190 that took of from Norway coast (even in Denmark) Everything available in 45 was focused towards fatherland ( Germany ) Who gave a damn what is going on in Norway in 45 ? Even in Sep/Nov 1944 in 2 missions raiding Tirpitz ( Lancaster formations in a broad daylight - without fighter escort ) didn't even meet any Eismeer FW-190 ! Just my 2 cents, that take off location in 45 chaos was not a reference where will FW-190 end up... ( It could be even deliberate, unarmed one way flight with goal to reach Yanks for surrender in civilized environment... avoiding further pointless semi-suicide "missions" ) But as I sad, the skin is nice in the present paint (surprise, surprise...) I am not historical junkie... let's look forward to the next Julian art

RaFiGer Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 (edited) @Community The Stab 4 was assigned to 1./JG 301 from JG 11, I painted it for IL2 in the past and have already a new one for BOS, and the explanation for the red/yellow is historical easy: The picture below shows the fuselage sign very well so the red/yellow RVT band (ReichsVerTeidigung), indication badge for JG 301 is good in sight. The band on that aircraft is reversed, so it was usual for the most squads of JG 301. Many aircrafts was delegated from JG 11 to JG 301, so the ground crew added mostly the red part later on the "wrong" side of the fuselage. Only the 3. Staffel put the RVT band still in the correct "right" way. Source: Squadron/Signal books - Fw 190 Walkaround Edited March 11, 2021 by RaFiGer 3 1
esk_pedja Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 Rafinger, Thanks for the clarification... but it would be the darkest red that I ever saw since I follow WWII air history... ( some 45 years) I cant get rid of impression that these are "Borussia Dortmund" bands... 1
fw190_luftwurgerfan Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 Another bird from JG-301 that would make an excellent subject for a skin. And one more for good measure. Another great subject This late war bird from JG 5. 1

RaFiGer Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 (edited) @esk_pdja For the checkerboard and also stripe cowlings there no (!) other colors used than black and white, historically it is wrong using other colors than these! I have spoken to some of the main historian's and also relatives of Fighter pilot's of JG 1. The Checkerboard was used as notification for the german flak crews. So the Black & Red version of the A6 taht comes with the standard skins is historical wise wrong, but it looks nice As the P47 units of the U.S.A.A.F. appears featuring also various checkerboard markings confusing the german flak crews the JG 1 planes changed to stripes and at least disbanded all these kind of efforts Thunderbolts with and without Checkerboards For eye pleasure of course it looks nice Edited March 12, 2021 by RaFiGer Added Links to Thunderbolds with Checkerboard Nose 1

It had a little paintjob under the Cockpit a small Clown head, probably named "Grock" after the Swiss clown of the 1930's. But it's the only surce I could consider.
