Scratchless Canopies

Gives the ground crew some polish to clean up the canopies. I may make a toned down version of the scratches if there is interest.

Tried the mod -- Wow! It's like taking your car to a car wash after all day long drive...

Apparently the technology to get a clean windshield was not yet invented in the IL-2 universe...

I tried to find this file as per folder path but canopyscratch.dds does not exist.  Can someone give the file path please.

Thank you Sir. It's working perfectly.

I don't have the folder "Common" as shown.  Just make it or am I missing data?

Yes, make a sub-folder called "common" in the textures folder and put "canopyscratch.dds" there. You need to enable mods in the game options to run it.

Your game must be in Mods-On mode for these to work.  To use online the server or coop must also be running in Mods-On mode.

I can't seem to open the ZIP file.  Is there some magic I'm missing?

Will this work with JSGME or does it have to be dropped into place?

I used 7-Zip to open it.    There are a few mods that don't work for me unless I use 7-Zip.

Thanks, I use 7zip, so I think it was something else.  I was eventuality able to download it and open it.  ?

Tanks very much!

great mod if you have to use a lower resolution, e.g: 1280x720 on a 1920x1080 Monitor.

-Works with Bodenplatte FW190-A8!

Best Regards

I'm one that surely would use it instead.

AFAIK only at "mods on" servers.

Devs should consider making cockpits less scratchy and without that "film" or "smear" that causes banding in the sky and water etc. Looks horrible! This mod is a nice one.

Amazing, this should just be part of the default game.

Just curious: Does this have any effect on frame rate?

Nope.

At worst this is the smear and banding we get. Like the cockpit glass was never washed. It would be better to model "like new" cockpit glass to ALL planes rather than only to some. Russkies do not have their pissyellow bad quality hoods, at all. Germans get the smear-o-rama. Allied planes are quite OK, but still some issues. Pics below.

For the F4 but should work fine on the other 109s. Drop it into graphics/planes/whatever109model/textures folder

I just want high resolution for the texture that gives the clouded appearance of the armored glass and the smudges. I see the pixels in VR.

Are they transparent textures will AA transparency work in NVCP?

So I have the file with the old canopy’s but it only works on a few. I need to find the problem. Possibly I should turn off the reflections. I will test more later.

Just installed this Mod for the Dora, but it didn't work.

Installed the Mod here:

data/graphics/Planes/Fw190D9/Textures/canopyscratch.dds folder

Am I doing something wrong?

@JG_deserteagle540 Start from post No# 4 onwards, the answer to your question is there, you need a folder named 'common'. :salute:

@FurphyForum,

Thanks for your help!

I installed it here: data/graphics/Planes/Fw190D9/Textures/common/canopyscratch.dds folder.

Unzipped it with 7-zip, Mods on, but no success.

The Dora windows are still very dirt as ever

Posted

Think for the dirt you need a new version of the FW190 glass texture like the one LizLemon gave us for the 109s. Pretty sure the canopyscratch texture given to us just removes the scratches from all aircraft canopies (which is why it is in the common texture folder).

Alright.

Then just wait for a clean Fw190 glass texture.

Thanks for the reply.

If you're into skinning you can clean the glass by eliminating some of the dirt layers. Then you can fly on mods off servers w/clean glass. Of course that's a lot more work than using this mod. Which is something this lazy pilot always welcomes.

This mod does work without having to use JSGME, so you don't need Mods to be on.  Found this by experimenting a bit, I can simply take the DDS file and paste it into, data>graphics>planes>your plane name>textures, and it works just fine.
