Yankee_One Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 Hi, i dont know if its a bug but i have a sound wich i never had before. After a quick mission has been loaded i see the cockpit and a line to press "pause" to start the game. After starting the game, 10 seconds later i hear a weird sound like guns are reloaded. Is this normal? Never had this before.
Lemon Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 (edited) @Yankee_One hi , I ve seen many comments on the net from people who got audio problems with the latest windows 10 April update (1803), if you run win10 it maybe your problem source too... I m still running on version 1709 so I did nt had to fix anything yet but my first bet would be to re-install the audio drivers and/or check the proprieties. A search on the net ( win 10 1803 audio fix ) can lead you on some potential fixes Edited May 29, 2018 by Lemon
Yankee_One Posted May 29, 2018 Author Posted May 29, 2018 @ Lemon Hi Lemon, first of all thank you for helping me. I do not have sound problems with win 10 because my rig is new. (6 weeks) and i have the latest drivers. Its like i stated above. I have all sounds, birds singing, wind movement, i hear my cockpit, rudder sounds etc. As i jump into the cockpit, 5-10 seconds later i hear a "cracking" sound i never realized before. Its with all ac. Dont know what it is.
Lemon Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 @Yankee_One hey , my pleasure sir but sorry I was not helping much! Maybe you can check in your device manager, it is not rare to see more than one audio driver and audio controller installed and it can cause problems. if you see more than one just disable them (window can re install if you uninstall) , if you disable the wrong one and you have no audio at all, just re-enable it. there is my system, i just kept the realteck one driver and one of the 2 High definition audio controller , doing this can help for latencies too btw ps: you probably got the Nvidia/AMD audio driver that is useful for HDMI output, so if you use the motherboard sound you want to disable it and never install Nvidia/AMD audio driver when you update your video card driver Spoiler if this don't help, you may want to try different ingame audio setting ? good luck to fix this
Art-J Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 Yup, the sound is there allright and it indeed appeared after the recent game update. To me it sounds more like a paper map/flightbook being folded by the pilot before startup, so maybe it's intended effect rather than bug. I'm not bothered by it, as it never pops up afterwards. Oh, Win7 here, so Microsoft has nothing to do with it this time ?. 1

spamRoast Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 Same here. I've also gotten it intermittently when dying sometimes, but I always seem to get it a few seconds after starting a mission and it definitely started since the last release for me too.
Yankee_One Posted June 10, 2018 Author Posted June 10, 2018 (edited) Hi guys, yes its the quote from Art-J " sounds more like a paper map/flightbook being folded " It was very strange for me when hearing it the first time. I never had it so i couldnt exactly define the sound. There is a way to disable it. Under settings, sounds deactivate / uncheck INTERFACE SOUND. Then its gone. S! Edited June 10, 2018 by Yankee_One
spamRoast Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 (edited) I noticed that this happens from something occurring inside the map. Normally when you're playing a career mission and go into the map, each waypoint will include heading, height, distance, speed, time. But right when I start a mission, each waypoint only has heading, height, distance. Then, a few seconds into the mission, speed and time are added and this is when the sound occurs. That is probably why @Yankee_One's suggestion works because it seems to be an interface sound when the extra details are added to the waypoints a few seconds into a mission. I also noticed that a few seconds after I die, before the mission ends, the sound occurs again right as speed and time are removed from each waypoint. It seems as though that's a tech issue in itself since the map can probably just start with those details for each waypoint, but that's just my opinion. Follow these steps to see it occur: In career more, start a mission and get right to the point of the game where you're in the plane but the game is paused. Leave game paused. Check your map. Each waypoint on my map has heading, height, and distance. Un-pause the game and immediately open the map before the sound occurs and leave it open until the sound occurs. Each point still has heading, height, and distance. You'll notice that right as speed and time are added is when you hear the sound. Edited June 16, 2018 by obit
spamRoast Posted June 17, 2018 Posted June 17, 2018 (edited) When I have time later I'll make a video of speed and time being added to each waypoint along with the sound it plays, but can someone possibly try to reproduce what I found? It will help the developers to know if it's consistent and it will also help them to track the specific place where the sound is occurring. Edited June 17, 2018 by obit
spamRoast Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 (edited) Okay, I finally got around to making a video of what I'm seeing in the map. In the video: I start a career mission I get to the map view where I can configure my plane and I can see that each waypoint on the map only shows heading, height, and distance. Then I start the mission, un-pause the game, and immediately open the map. A few seconds after the mission has started, I hear the sound right as my plane's location is added to the map and speed and time are added to each waypoint in the map. This sound occurs for any flight, even quick flights, so it's not necessarily directly tied to this event in the map that I show in the video. I'm only posting this so that it possibly helps the developers pinpoint one place where it's occurring in the game. The second video I added is the same video, but at 0:37 so you can see right where the bug occurs. Same video as the last one... I just put the video at the time right before the bug.
