RickVic Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 Also is there maybe a mod which reduces the sniper accurancy of the tail gunners for FC and IL2 ? I played the game the last 2 days after nearly of year of pause and the gunners seem to hit with sniper precision. its like the original Il2 all over again 2
LizLemon Posted March 24, 2021 Posted March 24, 2021 The specular maps are actually pretty nice just let down by stock games shading.

JG_deserteagle540 Posted March 24, 2021 Posted March 24, 2021 A mod that can give us an enemy damage log/indicator when you hit him in QMB or SP.
ITAF_Airone1989 Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 Hi @Enigma89 and @=FEW=Revolves, I saw your amazing work with the stats! It's really a great job! I was wondering if it's possible also to create a "military grade" mod. Like: when you reach a determinate hours of flight/destroyed targets/destroyed aircraft you are promoted to a new grade. Every time you died, you have to start from the beginning... I think this could immediately give an idea about the performance of a player! 2

Thanks for the kind words :) You mean kind of like the system TAW has with its ranks? I think WoL already has something similar to what you mean. I'm not sure how the ranks in WoL work, I believe they don't (completely) reset on death. I think the WoL admins made their own, in-house modifications to the stats system. Notice the leftmost column here: http://il2stat.aviaskins.com:8008/en/pilots/?tour=76&sort_by=-rank Personally I'm not a big fan of it on WoL, since I think it's confusing when there is also a rating column (the rightmost column) which works differently. Both rank and rating seem to be a measure of "how good is this pilot", so I don't understand the difference between the two. To wit, why do some players have high rating but low rank, and vice versa? I could see rank as a replacement for rating, or as an alias for it - but side by side I think it's confusing. There's also an "awards" page for pilots that not many people check, like: http://stats.virtualpilots.fi:8000/en/awards/13321/Player-72818/?tour=40 http://stats.virtualpilots.fi:8000/en/awards/6292/ITAF_Rani/?tour=40 (Rest your mouse over an award to check how you get it) Edited March 25, 2021 by =FEW=Revolves

Would be perfect for our next campaign It shouldn't be difficult to make - main issue is going to be sourcing the images for the ranks (if you want a little emblem next to a player name), but I think there must be some images online for that. Probably a few hours of work? I'll tie the ranks to how much score the player has earned since his last death. For example, this sortie you earned 50 score: http://stats.virtualpilots.fi:8000/en/sortie/1011852/?tour=40 (Bottom left), and having more than 300 points (for example) since the last death gives you the first promotion. Would be helpful if you'd give me a sketch of which ranks you want :) By the way you can already see the top 10 players who have the most score since the last death, this is called "Best Live Pilots" on the main page of the stats. It's probably not enough info for you guys since I'm sure you have more than 10 players :) No promises on how long it will take me though, I want to take a break from modding for a few weeks, and there is some other modding stuff I want to work on as well. Monty_Thrud Posted August 30, 2021 Posted August 30, 2021 All landed Planes remain on runway(not vanish), so you can see just how many survived mission. Occasional Engine backfire with exhaust flame flare when hit/damaged, as you're flying back to base. More ambient sounds, birds tweeting, dogs barking, general airfield sounds ,say near/in hangers hammers/ tool sounds(not the band). Cockpit /radio sounds similar to MSCFS 1 Soldiers/airfield staff mechanics etc, that can be placed near aircraft, vehicles etc similar to what we already have but just personnel, moving as if working on examining vehicles/planes etc. Lightning/Stormy weather/windy sounds.(no not those, the other)... Tyre screeching on landing, tick, ticking of cooling engine. Motorcyles/cars/boats...more of everything 3
Picchio Posted August 30, 2021 Posted August 30, 2021 @LizLemon Please show us something beautiful so we can postpone further losses of hope in this graphics engine. Also: have the devs hired you yet?
-47-Uncle_Bob Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 My wish for mods are very simpel and yet the 1 thing we will never get: Mod tools for sounds. Engine sounds are quite good in cockpit but external sounds and flyby sounds are screaming to be modded but its all hid in f-mod. My nr 1 reason for not staying with this game. 1

I can think of a lot of other stuff to be displeased about but the flyby sound is below the bottom of my list. Personally I can't think of a worse reason to ditch a flight sim title. Now if it was a movie making sim...... No wonder the Dev's get so peeved at some of our complaints.

You might be cockpit only and are fine with that but it gets boring to me. If you played il2 1946 with tiger33 flybys you would know what you are missing out of. That is why. If I never knew about it then maybe it would be ok to me too. What you dont know you dont miss. Its on the bottom of the list for the devs too. Pressing that flyby button makes my skin crawl. How do you play the game with sound turned off? Edited September 21, 2021 by -47-Uncle_Bob 2

I've been known to "step outside" to enjoy the view but I can't fight that way and takeoffs and landings are, well, too Hollywood for me and often too difficult. Yes, I do spend a lot of the time, most of the time, in the cockpit. Most of my flyby experience is watching videos of the game on YouTube. 1 hour ago, -47-Uncle_Bob said: If you played il2 1946 with tiger33 flybys you would know what you are missing out of. I don't. I've found that sweet spot where the balance of engine noise, wind noise and my planes gunfire sound 'right' to me. I understand what my engine is telling me when things don't sound quite right. I'm sure the engine sounds outside the cockpit could stand improvement. I was just surprised that anyone would say they left the game over sounds while outside their cockpit.

Monty_Thrud Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 Having the ability to call out a repair truck within the commands of the Commander in Tank crew (you've had it once the tracks are cut) and an air strike would be neat, and the option to add smoke shells too.

LizLemon Posted March 17, 2022 Posted March 17, 2022 (edited) Delete everything in xxxxxx/IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad/bin/game/ShaderFixes Extract this into the shaderfixes folder ShaderFixes.zip EDIT: Here is a tweak for the stars; it makes them all the same size, restores the twinkle and dims stars near the horizon. Drag files into shaderfixes folder star fix.zip Edited March 17, 2022 by LizLemon 1
Picchio Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 Works nicely, thanks. I wish the stars were not so huge though. Anyway: even if it's not final, I'm pretty sure that your grading system is miles better than default, and it also has the plus of solving the madness of the default "HDR". Is there any particular reason why you're not "officially" releasing it as a mod?
LizLemon Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 Because I'm doing a bunch of other changes too. Like making the cirrus clouds lit by the sun. This isnt done yet. They changed something in the last update that I have to fix, but you can try it now by dropping the included shaderfixes.zip files into the shaderfixes folder. If you want to change the star size open bde804b76d125dc0-vs.txt in shaderfixes. At the bottom you'll find this line mov o2.x, l(0.01) //////// FIXED STAR SIZE Change that 0.01 value to 0.005 to make them half the size they are now, or any other size you want. ShaderFixes.zip 1 1

Picchio Posted March 28, 2022 Posted March 28, 2022 @LizLemon Nice work! Surfaces look so much better when lit directly. That's a huge plus for cockpit surfaces, and I think the result can be appreciated even on the older models, where they tended to look like shiny plastic. I have a question, have you also modified the overall shadows darkness in this latest version?

Bo_Nidle Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 (edited) I would dearly love to see a QMB in the fashion of the original IL2 which allows you to build, save and load scenarios, paint schemes et al, so you don't have to repeatedly build them. Also the ability to save a track after the flight rather than before.....like the old IL2. And on a modification front, and I have asked for this before, please make the antenna cable that leads from the tail fin to the cockpit/fuselage on the P-51B/D Mustangs, P47 Thunderbolts and P-38's, an optional modification not the default appearance. ETO based 51's, 47,s and 38's did NOT have these fitted. The use of antenna cables for these fighters was restricted to the MTO and PTO aircraft due to the different radio types in use in those theatres. Edited October 19, 2022 by Bo_Nidle 2

FoxbatRU Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 I would like to have a could that disables number generation in a player's squadron. Or disable certain types of numbers. Because on American cars, the numbers are good, but on English and German ones I don’t particularly like them.
Bo_Nidle Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 One thing I would enjoy seeing is the sudden large vertical jet of smoke and steam blasting out of the funnel that can be seen on many gun camera films of the time when locomotives that are hit during strafing runs have the boiler burst. 1
