Nah, on route to target, right after Sochi. Maybe in square 2435 or thereabouts.

 

Also, in the early mission where we relocated to Adler, during the detour in the mountains one of the wingmen got stuck in the trees.

 

One more: In one of the early missions we taxied together with some ground vehicles at the same time, on the same taxiway. The leader acted like they weren't there and just clipped right through them. I carefully avoided them.

Unsure how long exactly he was circling, but I conducted 5 more attack runs while he did, and he had not expended all munitions. The Pe-2 flight in the area also took to circling. And as I recall, when I cycled through friendly aircraft cameras on returning home he was still circling there.

Tried Mission 15 twice. Both times Eagle Leader runs into the rear of Gannet 4 at the end of the taxiway, apparently stopping Gannet 4's engines. Eagle Leader carries on and I steer round Gannet 4 to join him, but Eagle 3 & 4 both get stuck in front of Gannet 4, meaning the flight won't take off. The second time I got fed up and took off myself and after about 5 minutes Eagle Leader requests permission for Eagle PAIR to take off and gets airborne.

 

The only other bug I can think of is at the previous airfield (the one with the hard runway and the grass area) the game wouldn't recognise that I'd left the runway and it was now clear for others to land no matter how far into the boondocks I taxied.

I suppose I can just increase the timer and delay Eagle Lead a bit, but better if the 'under the hood' logic is fixed rather than a mission logic work-around IMO.

For whatever reason Mission 8 and later of Havoc Over Kuban the A20 becomes invincible, does not take damage either from enemy fire or from crashing.  Settings are on Expert or Custom, same result.  Previous campaign missions the player aircraft can receive damage, but mission 8 and later no damage.  I've tried restarting the campaign a couple times, but by mission 8 same issue. Is this a known bug? Any known solutions? No mods to game.

I tried Mission 16 twice. The first time Eagle 4 and Eagle 7 collided on the runway. Eagle Leader flew around aimlessly before Point 3 before finally heading north without the escort. Eagle Leader and Eagle 3 disappeared somewhere (not destroyed) leaving me to go to the target alone, where I met a fighter.

 

The second time for some unidentified reason Eagle 7 loitered for a long time on the runway. Eagle Leader flew around in circles before Point 3, this time we did pick up the escort and with Eagle 7 vaguely in the vicinity we headed north, only for Eagles 3 to 6 to vanish (presume they flew into a mountain). At the target I was heavily damaged by a fighter and headed home with one elevator and most of the rudder missing, only for the game to frustratingly freeze just as I was about to try to land the crippled bird (I assume the crash wasn't down to the mission).

 

Edit: I went back and tried this again. The first time I saw Eagles 4 and 6 fly into a mountain near Point 3 as Eagle Leader finally set off for the target. The second time I just flew straight to the target, bombed it, and flew back. As I approached the airfield, the main flight attacked the target and the game froze, like it did in my second attempt. There is something about this mission that Il2 doesn't like, perhaps too much going on. My rig was bought specifically to play Il2 and I do play on servers like WoL successfully with 83 other players.

Sorry if I'm missing something, but humor me a moment.. I just played the first mission and enjoyed it a lot. I'm new to the A-20 so just cruising and keeping an eye on the controls was fun.

I was confused by the map waypoints that refer to 236mph because I had to go around 170-180 to avoid overshooting the rest of my flight. Is this deliberate, am I misunderstanding speeds, or should I disregard the waypoint values and just stick with Eagle leader?

@jsharaf89 you are indeed correct.

Not all, but a few of the missions from 8 onward feature an unintentionally invulnerable player aircraft.

Odd that's it's gone undetected all this time, but I just fixed it. However the fix will not be posted for a bit/next update most likely.

 

I will submit to the Devs later tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks Gambit21 !  Is there anything I need to do to get the bug fixed i.e restart campaign etc?  A new update was installed yesterday when I booted up, but the issue still persisted.  Thanks for your help!!

The last update was April 8th.

I can't give you a date for the next one, but coming.

A year and a half later and this is still happening. Played the mission twice; the first time I finished all of my bombing runs and was ready to head home but then the game froze completely. Second attempt and the game froze after only two bombing runs... I'm not using VR or anything special

 

Kinda sucks ?

Unfortunately there’s nothing I can do since it’s a game bug and not mission logic related and not widely reported. 

 

Might be system specs (RAM) or who knows what else. Can you specify a circumstance where the game freezes most often?

I have been playing the scripted mission, Havoc over the Kuban and on mission #5 Dawn Patrol the game freezes about halfway through the mission, it's happened both times I tried to run it, I can't skip the mission it seems, is this a known issue? Can I get a fix or a refund?

I figured out a work around by dropping my bombs, heading to friendly territory and bailing out, I'm currently testing the next mission

WOW all I can say is...wow, I'm loving this campaign, beautiful scenery, missions that are interesting and original, absolutely awesome, I'm down for any other campaigns you create

Stuck on mission 15 Defense of Tuapse, same issue as the others, Eagle1 rams Gannet 4, this last time they managed to get away from each other and I had my hopes up but Eagle1 rammed Eagle 3 and got stuck, neither him nor Eagles 3 and 4 would take off. I went ahead and flew the mission myself, bombed some things, returned and landed, they were all still on the runway, I taxied and despawned but it said Mission Failed and would only try and run Mission 15 again, I can't get past it. I was thinking of making my plane indestructible then try and push everyone apart but...

@WM_KMS there is a global bug that the Devs are looking into that has to do with airfield/aircraft interaction.

All the info I have at the moment. I'll advise when the I'm told that the problem is fixed.

I think I have a clue to the problem, my plane on this mission seems very underpowered/heavy, I can barely take off, I was able to run the mission and all the Gannets took off but when I tried I ran out of runway and crashed.

I think all the planes are having the same power problem and that's why they taxi so slow causing Eagle 1 to ram into Gannet 4

Yes

AI behavior reasons.

The AI will insist on level bombing if equipped with an internal load.

I've had a freeze on two (same) missions in a row, I think it is the 4th mission where you look for a long line of supply vehicles after a looooooooooong flight so this is quite irritating...it happens when you are almost done and there is very little going on ahead, a lot going on behind you so I don't understand why it is doing that...

Unfortunately submitting a bug report for this scripted campaign.  Great work and well worth it except the game continually locks up near the end of the "Dawn Patrol" mission.  4 times now (AKA 4 hours) where the game appears to pause itself, with sound from the engines still running and smoke from the engines still coming out but at a campfire rate... strangely, the map and flight briefing screen seems to work but nothing else.  I have Steam Validated files and one is required.  The freeze happens at the end of the attack shortly after the leader says (in white font - top-center) "good job, form up south of the river" or "two minutes."

Not sure what else I can try as IL2 is usually solid.  

Note: using VR (Steam Index) with over 660 hours of gameplay and multiple careers and scripted campaigns with basically no issues. 

 

Also: PLEASE keep these scripted campaigns coming as they are awesome.

Not a bug with the campaign I'm afraid - working fine for me and most users.

Try turning your graphics settings down. It's possible that your PC just isn't able to handle the combination of your graphics settings and the intensity/high object count of these missions.

 

I cant' say for sure at this juncture what the problem is, other than it's not mission logic (me) and therefore nothing for me to fix fortunately/unfortunately depending on point of view. I've reported again in beta and maybe they can come up with something.

 

That it's a rare occurrence however (not every user) suggests a user system/load/or graphics settings problem.

These are heavy missions, not built for VR.

Bug reporting:

 

On mission 1, the program crashes to desktop every time at the same point in the mission: after the attack on the trucks and on the return flight, about a minute after the German fighters spawn and begin attacking the formation.

 

Per an earlier reply in this thread I enabled error reporting. I believe I have three such .dmp files. Since this forum won't let me attach over 5MB, I've uploaded them to a Google Drive folder, linked here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-cl-WYEl0NautfrZZOPaF__nnfUgOPT7?usp=sharing

 

Also in that folder is a file called "tex.log" that I found in "C:\...IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data". Its creation date matches the time of the crash, and it contains several lines that seem to indicate an error loading textures and models. For example, the first three lines read:

I don't use VR but I'll def try turning down the graphic load.

Well, I went from High graphics to medium graphics and the damn mission froze up again at around the same place. I'm done with this. Moving on.

Most of the time, load failures can be tracked down to folder/files not existing or being damaged. First thing to do is to check files integrity or reinstall them.

On mission 1, the program crashes to desktop every time at the same point in the mission: after the attack on the trucks and on the return flight, about a minute after the German fighters spawn and begin attacking the formation.

 

I had the same CTD on mission #1, formation on RTB leg while being engaged by 2 x Bf-109. But I didn't have error reporting enabled. It did generate a crash dump that I can't read.

Maybe this can help (I don't know, haven't tested because I have IL-2 on Steam). 
If you don't have Moscow, you may still find the same "update" folder under your game's flavor. Just do a backup of it and then delete it and run the launcher.

After the recent update I tried Mission 15 again to see if the AI was fixed... nope, Eagle Lead still crashes into the taxiing plane BUT he managed to get past it with no serious damage and not rear end Gannet 3! woohoo Team Eagle got setup on the runway and we all launched, I was able to complete the mission.

 

Mission 16 though.... right before waypoint 3 the leader begins to circle and plane #5 and 6 hit the mountain, also about 80% through the mission it hard freezes, no mouse and requires a hard boot to clear. Tried it twice
