@E69_julian57Beautiful A5 skin, thank you.

Would it be possible to make some A6 skins please?

How are you 'E69_julian57' - I need some help with a skin. I have just posted a 'Big Show' single mission featuring the Normandy map. Pierre Clostermann and his "Alsace" Squadron was up against JG2 Focke-Wulf A3's and A5's. Clostermann mentions an A5 Focke-Wulf flown by Maj von Graff which was painted 'yellow all-over'. I  managed to find a pic of this FW, apparently Herman Graff was training FW pilots in France at the time using this aircraft and taking it into combat occasionally.

I would be very grateful if you make a skin of this aircraft and I will put into the mission.

Thanks and regards,

DFLion

I became very skeptic about this skin, so I did some research. Flying an all-yellow plane in a target rich environment seems unhealthy to me.

I read that in the latest edition of The Big Show (published in 2004, with the foreword written in September 2003), Pierre Clostermann made this regarding the pilot in the all-yellow Fw 190: " Later we learned that it was not Graff, but maybe Oesau". (p. 50). Also, none of the FW Graff flew were all yellow. I'm not certain from what publication this picture comes from, but it provides more information about Major von Graff's FW-190.  @DFLion Perhaps you can consider this in your mission building?

Clostermann's accounts of his experiences have been debunked by many. A disappointment since I really liked his book "The Big Show". I'm sure he meant well but I'm sure he exaggerated a bit. There's a reason a well known Pilot Experience YouTube Channel is titled "10 Percent True".

FW-190 request. The USAAF garishly marked FW-190, flown/captured by the 325th Fighter Group, "The Checkertail Clan" in Lesina, Italy.

Hi @KOHTYP  thanks for the great skin.

Looking at the link to the plastic model and then at the original film footage, I am positive the underside of the Main Wing, Fuselage and Rudder is bright yellow, hence the wheel struts also being yellow (same colour as where the strut hinges into the wing)?

In the first picture of your reply, if you look at the Yellow Fuselage band and then the underside of the main wing, they are the same, as well as underside of the tail and body of the fuselage?

Would it be possible to have the underside  up to the cowling Red, painted the same colour as the fuselage stripe?

I have used Photoshop to illustrate the underside and also point out where the Yellow paint appears to end next to the cowling. Also, not sure what the dark square is on the yellow band, but is it possible to include that too (if possible). Thanks in advance, Mysticpuma

Please? ?

If you think that the bottom should be YELLOW, make it yellow!

After looking at a black-and-white photo, you can come up with any color you want.

@KOHTYP

No problem, thanks for your help :)

Book is obviously wrong though, this is from colour film footage of the same aircraft :(

Honestly I appreciate your help. I can't access .dds files so am unable to make the underside yellow as shown. Ah well :(

I did the following historic skin with hakenkreuz based almost as much on the story line as I did the looks of the skin.  This FW-190 A5 was assigned to 4./JG 54 at Siverskiy, south of Leningrad.  On July 19, 1943 Feldwebel Paul Ratz took off with a wingman on a free hunt mission.  Ratz reported engine trouble and made a belly landing  in a swamp.  Ratz was captured and spent 16 years in prison.  The plane lay there until discovered in 1989 when it was recovered and later restored.  During restoration work it was discovered the new engine that was installed prior to the crash had seized.  The cause of the seizure was a dirt clod in an oil line.  It is theorized that the engine was sabotaged by a slave laborer in Germany.

I am also including a "blank" skin to be used with the in-game fuselage marking system.

The restored aircraft now belongs to the Flying Heritage and Combat Armor Museum in Everett, WA.  Currently this is the only flying FW-190 in the world.

If you see anything off, let me know.

Hope you enjoy!
