1.JaVA_BlGGLES Posted April 28, 2018 Posted April 28, 2018 Intense... Yes a crazy evening! Missing my wing man I hooked up with Jizzo and the NN guys. After some communication "allo allo "things! We managed but at the end I found myself alone between 3 FW190! Later on I was a bit to aggressive on an ME110 and failed to watch my six, paying for it! But eh.................we did had action! See you next week, here some screens from my side Cheers Biggles 4 1
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted April 28, 2018 Posted April 28, 2018 Long evening - managed two sorties, one of which had enough action for five. We began with La-5s covering Il-2s, working our way to Arkhipo-Osipovka where II/JG11 had set up a reception party for us. Right as we closed in, they collided and did our job for us! Unfortunately our luck wouldn't last for long - a convoy stacked with AA cannons took out all four Il-2s in a matter of minutes, most of them during their first pass! Involuntarily freed from our escort duties, we proceeded to join the Pe-2s who happened to be in the neighbourhood, and stayed with them over target until our next assignment was handed to us. Bad timing unfortunately, as JG11 came onto them right as we'd arrived at our new area of responsibility! With one eye on the sky and the other on the fuel gauge, our third assignment of the day was to cover an Il-2 attack at German infantry and armoured positions at Akhtyrskaya, and we did so. This time, our Il-2s took revenge and rid the area of all air defences while also lighting half the place on fire. Without losses, we took heading home to prepare for our next sortie. All nice and quiet, right? With the fuel gauge now showing 200L, our two La-5s came upon a formation of four Bf-109s flying high above us headed towards Krasnodar. As is common courtesy, we went after them - it's only fair that it was 4 against 2, seen as they have to fly that scrap metal Messer against our wooden wonders! A lengthy dogfight ensued, where Alex managed to shoot one 109 down while the rest eventually went home hungry. The Il-2s returned safely, we landed with less than 100L of fuel left, but happy with the successful sortie. Given some geographical constraints where our designated fighters were stationed half a world away, we had to borrow some P-39s from the regiment at Krasnodar to follow the Il-2s to finish their job. Due to some technical delays, we were separated but Alex and Pod led the group to a very smooth and safe rendezvous. Over target, the Il-2s obliterated what was left of the enemy positions, and went home smiling. Much to our dismay, two marauding 6./ZG26 Bf-110s shot down two of our Il-2s before we could do much. I fatally damaged one of them before being careless in a turn, which sent me crashing into the ground thanks to a well-placed burst - alive, but shaken! Shortly after, Alex reminded our German friend that if a P-39 is coming at you from the front, you run! The 37mm cannon tore the Bf-110 to pieces, and the lone P-39 and the remaining Il-2 pair landed safely. A very long but enjoyable mission, thanks to the other groups for the good communication, and a special thanks to Alex, Jumper, Pod, Cat and Eskimo for the excellent flying 4 1 3

Cina was the other 7b that shot you down. I am surprised you say you only attacked two PE2s. We escorted six PE2s to the target and one was hit in the fuel tank but all six headed for home. Two of them, including he one with a fuel leak strangely, decided to leave the formation and attack a convoy but we stayed with the other four and it was those four that we saw being attacked. Maybe I am confused myself. We dove in and engaged you and I managed to get close behind Terzole and had several easy shots as he tried to run for home but somehow most of my shots missed then when he pulled up and dodged and I followed I got disorientated as to what way up. I only had to roll level and I would have been fine but I continued the loop and hit the ground or, as the USAF would say, 'I failed to maintain adequate ground clearance and suffered an involuntary conversion' :-) EDIT: I found I had a track of the fight and there were four and you did actually fly past the two other PE2s :-) I will post an AAR later with photos. 56RAF_Roblex Posted April 28, 2018 Posted April 28, 2018 (edited) Cina & I took off from Lazarevskoya in Yak-7bs to escort five PE2s to their target of Gelenzhik Airfield-1 The crossing was uneventful and we watched the PE-2s successfully bomb the airfield in a single pass though the bomber leader took some damage and was leaking. Five minutes into the RTB the lead bomber realised he was not going to make it all the way back so turned aside to the river valley where there was a road to land on. After a scary moment when he discovered there was a German convoy with AAA near his route he managed to crash land on the road and his crew escaped into the dense forest. While he was doing this we noticed a 109 diving on the bombers. He somehow failed to see the two rear PE2s and attacked and disabled one of the leading PE-2s Cina was on his tail straight after and shot out his engine and watched him bail out. A second 109 had now arrived and managed to get another PE-2 before I saw him. After a few unproductive head on passes and brief tussle with me he then had a go at Cina but when he saw my bullets passes his nose and Cina turning into him he sensibly broke off and he ran for his base. I followed with Cina watching my back and got some small hits but nothing that seemed to cause him any trouble. Then he made a climbing turn and I thought I had him but my bullets just missed him and I found myself disoriented as I came to the top of my climb inverted. A simple roll back to level flight would have been all I needed but in my confusion I continued the loop and hit the treetops and went in. Luckily I was thrown clear very near where the PE2 had landed and the crew managed to find me. After a 6 hour trek through the forest we made our way back to base safely. I could equally have done it so you unzip to the 'IL2 Battle Of Stalingrad' folder then it find the right subfolders from there as that folder exists in both Steam or Non-Steam installations. If you do it that way then tell people to put your EXE into 'IL2 Battle...' or 'skins' before running it then it would not need to ask where to extract the files because it knows where it is so it would not matter if people don't understand the German questions (I don't speak German but I just guessed on the basis I could drag things to the right places later) Edited April 29, 2018 by 56RAF_Roblex
