Gump Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 i encountered something very strange yesterday while flying on TWB/WoL... . there was gunfire and sound coming from thin air... .... i was flying a fighter at approx 1.5k, when i noticed tracers near ground about 800m away. map showed no icons, nothing on landscape but grass/few trees/roads. so i proceeded in that direction. i get close and begin to hear the aircraft engines, but still no visual. see tracers again but they seem to originate from just the air (about 50-100ft agl). i fly overhead, about 800m alt now, and see tracers from ground. still hear planes. still nothing visible. sound of planes is persistant, but a few circles reveal empty landscape - no vehicles of any sort. ... i then proceed to target - depots... again, there is a section where i hear a plane, so i proceed to search and engage. but,... only sound. no planes. sound remains in specific location. so i eventually disregard and continue with mission, BUT am uncertain about eventual presence or absence of other planes.

Perhaps the devs have decided to add "ambient" plane noise - it creates an atmosphere of uncertainty and more activity going on than there really is - sorta like the "ambient flak" we got in RoF I'm just kidding, of course (or at least I really hope I am) - at least in RoF we have a mods on mode so we can ditch the ambient flak - if this is a new "feature" for BoS, then bummer
johncage Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 unlike hollywood, vehicles don't always explode into a fireball at impact. this new depiction is more realistic, not perfect. but a better approximation of the effects of a plane breaking apart on deflected impacts.

9./JG27golani79 Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 I really like the new update including the E-7 and the summer / autumn map - it feels like a new game and everything makes more fun without the snow (although I´m sure I´ll fly in winter conditions too from time to time). Would be nice to get an option for adjusting the visibility of the grass though so that people with a better rig could increase the viewing distance of it.

War is hell and yes, the Stukas were "evil" as well.

I've seen the same thing in RoF. The only difference is that there are just tracers coming from nothing. I don't hear the sound of an engine.

I'm just looking forward to the PWCG. i don't think the stukas were targeting civilians or know that there was a girl on the boat. they were engaged in attrition over traffic across the river, cutting down supplies and generally destroying the enemy equipment. they could definitely have left out the little girl though. not sure what they were going for that. maybe a war is hell message. it's a little ham fisted for sure.

My point is that there is a limit to propaganda stuff that my stomac can take. And I don't see why such a thing had to be part of a ww2 combat simulator. When an intro video shows such a bias, no wonder if some customers question the historical accuracy of planes, suspecting the same bias there too. I questioned, ran some tests and found that fortunatelythere was none. Still I believe it sends the wrong message to customers outside of Russia. Edited November 1, 2015 by Reflected 2

If I leave it on the standard configuration and use it, it says undercarriage retracting even when I`m on the ground and the tail wheel is indicated as locked. But once in the air, the undercarriage does not respond anymore. You can push "G" as much as you want, undercarriage stays extended. If I put the tail wheel lock/ unlock function on another button (no matter which one), it does not work anymore. So I cant fly the FW-190 anymore, eiter you cant take off because its spinning around on the ground with unlocked tail wheel or you lock it but then you cant retract the undercarriage anymore once you are in the air. Is that a bug ? Howdy Geralt, I'm not sure but something may have change with the 1.104 Update. I do not have experience with flying the 190 but I have experienced a similar problem when attempting to taxi a Yak with the tail wheel unlocked. Same as you experienced, the Yak starts an uncontrollable spin when attempting to taxi with the tail wheel unlocked even with minimal inputs. This spin behavior could occur prior to the update if you applied to much rudder and throttle. Now it's totally uncontrollable. I checked out in external view behind the Yak and noticed the tail wheel now sometimes will rotate 360 degrees. I also looked a pre-1.104 track and did not see the tail wheel rotate 360 degrees. I found on the internet that the tail wheels should rotates 90 degrees left or right and nothing mentioned about 360 degrees. Maybe someone with real life knowledge of tail draggers can confirm how the tail wheel should function. Suggest you try what I did. Start a mission in QMB with your 190. Faster to start on the runway. Go to external view directly behind your 190 where you can monitor the action of the tail wheel. If the your 190 tail wheel also rotates 360 degrees then we might have a bug we can report if some one can confirm how the tail wheel should function. P.S. - Ze_Hairy is correct. The Tail Wheel lock you see in the settings menu does not apply to the 190. You need to use the stick function as he advised. Edited November 1, 2015 by OCA_LoneStar

Lennyman Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 I have owned iL2 BoS for almost a year now. I tried many times to fully enjoy the sim but it never felt quite right for me. Until this weekend when I started playing again with this new update. There's a tremendous feeling that the game is now something very special. It stirs up emotions not felt since I played the original Il2 (the box of which sits on the shelf above my monitor). I love what the game is now. It's almost a work of art. I created an account on the forum today just to say how very impressed I am, and how complete this game feels. Thank you to all involved. I can't imagine the effort you have put in. I have a question. I own the standard version. Is it correct to say the only difference between it and the deluxe version is the LA-5 and the Fw190? I may purchase those two planes anyway in appreciation of this new map/game! Thank you, Len 2

Flying at same speed, and same height, sometimes the bomb skips and sometimes it just explodes and kills you. Has anyone else noticed that?

Although there is one more - if you own the 190 and the LA-5 you own the premium version of the game and are eligible to unlock the unlocks on your profile page here so you don´t have to unlock every unlock yourself if you don´t want to (skins must still be unlocked).

I read that it can only produce campaigns with the winter version of IL2 BOS. Are there plans for another version that includes summer and autumn maps and if so, is it going to be released before Christmas this year ? I got some leave around christmas, so I`ll have some time to spend on the single player campaign. And another question, do you get the real medals in that campaign like you did in RoF or is ist also some fantasy-crap-medal like you get in the thing they call campaign, which is included in the game ? Sorry, I´m a bit spoiled by the campaigns for the old IL2 like "Rebirth of Honor", those were really what I`d call a campaign !
