I preferred the 6xMG151 field mod to be honest. Although the Mk-103 was also fun for strafing. The bomb-loads were nice too with that cockpit's good downward visibility.

There was a mod version that came out at some point later.

 

I flew Il2 from 2003 to about 2010. So, yes, it was definitely a modded version.

 Yeah. But it was not only that. The aerodynamics of the original aircraft were pretty decent. The prototype was doing 558km/h with 870HP engine, then as they started adding stuff, the performance kept getting worse. The 150-200HP added to the engine power couldn't  compensate for the bunch of draggy things added to the plane.

  The antenna was going on an oblique axis to the plane, the supercharger intake filter they installed later was a draggy mess. Lots of raised rivets and things sticking out. External braces to support the tail and let's not even start talking about that draggy mess of a bomb release cradle..

  Just look at the yaks and Laggs. With every upgrade they got lighter and more streamlined. The IAR went the other way.

Janson is the flight sim world equivalent of Elon Musk.  The vaccines are farmed out to external companies (Like Jason does with model development), so he can focus on the big picture, like a flyable Stone Henge.

Catch-22 required that each censored letter bear the censoring officer's name. Most letters he didn't read at all. On those he didn't read at all he wrote his own name. On those he did read he wrote, "Janson Wilson." When that grew monotonous he wrote, "Wilson Janson" Censoring the envelopes had serious repercussions, and produced a ripple of anxiety on some ethereal military echelon that floated a C.I.D. man back into the ward posing as a patient. They all knew he was a C.I.D. man because he kept inquiring about an officer named Janson or Wilson and because after his first day there he wouldn't censor letters. He found them too monotonous.

why? we had thursday DDs for a long time before they switched to fridays and he is right, it's the 20th anniversay so that would've been an acceptable reason to do a thursday DD imho

Nah. Every DD worth it´s salt is released on a friday. Not too early not too late, but precisely when it is meant to...
