Blooddawn1942 Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 As always Zeus, this looks very impressive!!!
LLv34_Flanker Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 S! A lot of the incredible beauty of maps Zeus has created is lost due the horribly short drawing distance Otherwise pure gold. 1
LuftManu Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Nice Work Zeus, the first portion of the map is amazing! this looks too!
PB0_Foxy Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 very nice job Zeus-- ! Keep up the good work
Sim Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Wow. The map looks great! Could you give a raw % estimate of overall map completeness/progress?
1CGS zeus-- Posted October 25, 2014 1CGS Posted October 25, 2014 Could you give a raw % estimate of overall map completeness/progress? ~80-85%.Plus "2 weeks"
LLv34_Flanker Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 (edited) S! Very nice! Showed this work to a virtual pilot who builds maps as well, done official map to Aces High and for mod packs to original IL-2. What tools do you need for making a map etc? Because he immediately was interested in making a Finland/Carelia map Edited October 25, 2014 by LLv34_Flanker
A-E-Hartmann Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 ~80-85%. Plus "2 weeks" Thank you, more case expect.

7.GShAP/Silas Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 (edited) That train yard especially is really cool. Very nice work. S! Very nice! Showed this work to a virtual pilot who builds maps as well, done official map to Aces High and for mod packs to original IL-2. What tools do you need for making a map etc? Because he immediately was interested in making a Finland/Carelia map I wish him luck, Finland would be easily my first choice for another area of operations. Latvia/Estonia would be my second. 1CGS zeus-- Posted October 31, 2014 1CGS Posted October 31, 2014 (edited) Dear bombers, recons and other high-flyers. What do you think about wayfinding and navigation in this version of the map? The list of changes and improvements that make it different from the "Novosokolniki map" all roads are more clearly highlighted with clearences in woods and forests; all water pond have grass around their borders; a lot of villages added (you can spot 2-4 and more villages (no matter where the camera is); all village now have some agricultural appendixes I personally find this solution much more natural and recognizable. Here's the south-western corner of the map from 4500m altitude. What you see is practically the final iteration, I only need to add a bunch of bridges.FOV is slightly increased on the screenies (to avoid the fartherst "blurry" LOD) but it's not on max. Same video from 5 km altitude: And original 60fps video from game (warning - 1,1 Gb) Edited October 31, 2014 by zeus-- 7
Brano Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Next Friday is VOSR anniversary.Good day to release officialy That video looks almost as real
No601_Swallow Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 (edited) It looks like it's somewhere real - a real place, not some generic backdrop. Personally, I very much like the look of the frozen lakes and ponds. Again, to my eyes, they look real! Thanks Zeus and team, for thinking about navigation - for making the map "fit for purpose". I think the roads and railways look very clear, while still being realistic (one of the problems, I think, of sims is that landmarks seem more difficult to see at altitude than in real life, so your screenies are great!). I'm getting really excited about this map. I can't wait to see the finished (minus two weeks, of course) city of Velikiye Luki itself! Edited November 1, 2014 by No601_Swallow
Feathered_IV Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 That video is amazing. Did they serve tea and coffee on that flight?
steppenwolf Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Impressive! The landscape looks very organic and natural. Do you guys do PoV movement by any chance?
Mainstay Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Looks very nice. Now melt that snow and it would be perfect.
Wandalen Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 (edited) Dear bombers, recons and other high-flyers. What do you think about wayfinding and navigation in this version of the map? I love high level bombing missions, and i know as long as i have a compas and a map i will find my way. if you dont see anny landmarks you need a to use the clock as well. I think navigation is one part of the game thath makes the game more fun to play. And i must say i dont like GPS in full real servers. ~S~ I hate IPad autocorrect! Edited November 1, 2014 by Wandalen
1CGS zeus-- Posted November 1, 2014 1CGS Posted November 1, 2014 Now melt that snow and it would be perfect. I have plans to make this map in the setting of autumn, 1943 (the battle for Nevel and Novosokolniki) and summer, 1941 (defense of Velikie Luki). 6
Mainstay Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I have plans to make this map in the setting of autumn, 1943 (the battle for Nevel and Novosokolniki) and summer, 1941 (defense of Velikie Luki). Exellent !!! Because the winter setting kinda gets boring. I would love some more color.
1CGS zeus-- Posted November 1, 2014 1CGS Posted November 1, 2014 I would love some more color. Me too But first of all we should wait for correct set of planes from 1CGS I-16, MiG-3, Yak-9, Bf109E-4, Me110 ets 2
avlSteve Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I have plans to make this map in the setting of autumn, 1943 (the battle for Nevel and Novosokolniki) and summer, 1941 (defense of Velikie Luki). Will they be ready later today? j/k your maps look great; I'm really stoked to see these.
Wandalen Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I here by order a Kirkenes - Murmansk map the planes is not to fare off i guess :-)
1CGS zeus-- Posted November 4, 2014 1CGS Posted November 4, 2014 Hi all I've already done about 120 villages (blue dots on map), but the map still looked empty and lifeless, so I decided to add another 130 units (marked yellow) Here same new screens from the SE corner of map (almost finished add villages there). 12
No601_Swallow Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Me want! Amazing stuff, Zeus. I didn't think it could be improved, but you are showing obsessive perfectionism at its very finest! Salute!
