samson Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Sorry for introuding, but "Жанна" (Zhanna) would be a perfect match. 2
[I.B.]ViRUS Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 My first attempt at skinning. Still need to find out where a couple of parts are. Basically I just wanted to modify the stock template with more correct demarcation lines. I added a little slogan just for fun lol. Looks like my pilot is giving middle finger... 2016_1_25__20_29_30.jpg2016_1_25__20_29_42.jpg2016_1_25__20_29_57.jpg2016_1_25__20_30_35.jpg Hmmm... that sighn sounds weird on russian. 2nd word is to vulgar and applying to male person. It can't be used with word "Зло" which is inanimate noun. Anyway phrase like this couildn't used as sighn anywhere because of war. All pepole of the whole country worked for the victory on battlefields with angry and in plants with resoluteness. Sighn like that is completely out of place.
Danziger Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Ok so I'm working on a generic black bands scheme and a winter distemper. These are WIP I still need to fix the name and work on a couple more things. It's a royal pain in the dupa to get those camo patterns to line up right. 1
Weegie Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 I for one would love a copy of these skins Borys, I particularly like the partial green and white schemes I'll leave other more adept than me to comment
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Personally I would make the black a little brighter to lower the colour contrast but other than that I'd say it's a good job for a fresh skinner. The white camou would probably look better with a darker alpha though.
Danziger Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Is it possible to make only the white parts matte? I also want to rework the wing root on the all white covered one. It looks like exhaust soot that doesn't line up but it's supposed to be where the white wore off from pilot getting in and out.
Finkeren Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Is it possible to make only the white parts matte? I also want to rework the wing root on the all white covered one. It looks like exhaust soot that doesn't line up but it's supposed to be where the white wore off from pilot getting in and out. That's simple. You just rework the alpha layer to be darker in the same areas as the white. Darker = less reflection in the alpha channel.
Finkeren Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 (edited) Finally, Yellow 32 in summer colours from early autumn 1941 is finally done. Reducing the weathering and especially the chipping paint took a lot of work on the alpha layer and on top of that I had to make some small corrections to the lines of the lower cowling to adjust it to the changes in 3D model in the last update. I think the result turned out rather nice. It's not exactly a "factory fresh" paint job, but I think the reduced weathering does work nice and makes the plane look newer: Get it here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/4vv7ak19byr7jrz/Mig3s24_Yellow32.dds Source: http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/mig3/yellow32.html Note: I deliberately chose to leave out the strange dark/black streaks or lines on the landing gear doors. I simply cannot see what purpose they would serve, if they were painted on, and I therefore view them as being either applied after the capture or posibly being a burn or other kind of damage inflicted during the crash. Edited February 4, 2016 by Finkeren
Danziger Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Something else I've been working on. Not exactly historical but I think with a summer map and a little imagination it can be quite fun. 1 4
Finkeren Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Wow Borys! That works so well. Looks like the unholy love child between a Spit Mk. V and a Mustang III.
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 That looks so... right, somehow! The MiG-3 in those high-alt Channel scuffles would have worked well, and the 1942 RAF camo fits aircraft built for speed perfectly.
Danziger Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Ok here is the link for the RAF paint scheme. TBH it's probably all I'm going to do for a while as all of this learning to skin was taking away most of my stick time and I need to get back to flying http://www.mediafire.com/download/49mpsl2tp5b1nmv/RAF.dds
Weegie Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Borys Thank you That is a beaut, of course being a Brit I'm a bit biased
Trooper117 Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I'll wait until we get some British lend lease aircraft....
keeno Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Borys, thanks so much for this thing of beauty, it's simply fantastic. cheers
Danziger Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Thanks for the kind words guys I'm only a beginner and didn't think they would turn out so well
Danziger Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 (edited) This is based on a generic late style camo scheme with darker green. I've also started adding some detail to the very barren wheel bays. Next I am going to start seeing what I can do playing with alpha channel. http://www.mediafire.com/download/j84xs3b0i5wxme5/camo1.dds Edited February 22, 2016 by BorysVorobyov
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 I'm more into glossy, but either look great.
Danziger Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Ok white winter and camo done with matt paintjobs plus semigloss red paint and shiny metal paint chips. http://www.mediafire.com/download/h252b1mobw1szlr/white.dds http://www.mediafire.com/download/cb6drgw54d41zge/camo.dds 1

KOHTYP Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Not long ago I was asked to paint a vivid, beautiful camouflage for the MiG-3.Because in the junkyard is hard to find your slave or master, as all mostly standard and no one will see their beautiful aircraft in addition to their. But this skin so much that they wanted, so they would've seen Everything! Here is a link to download.

Zargos Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Hello, Here is my first winter skin for the Mig3. I choose to make a skin for a plane of the 122th IAP as it could be seen at Vnukovo on February 1st, 1942 during the delivery ceremony(http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/mig3/whslogan2.html). The plane had an immaculate white painting and a patriotic tag : "For the Bolchevik Party" : Then I treid to imagine how could this plane could look like after sevral weeks of opération under the terrible russian winter wtether conditions : I don't know if this heavilly weathered skin is realistic or not. I just consider it as an "historical what-if" and a style study. Available : http://www.unbound-frogs.org/zsf/2016/02/28/029-mig-3-122-iap/ A plus. 1 6
Danziger Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I've been working more on the alpha channels for my skins. I wanted to try something that wasn't very glossy but also not completely matt. I noticed that you loose a lot of the details in the metal when you go completely matt. What do you guys think? 2

SharpeXB Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Hello, My "White 18" is finished. As I told you before, this skin is taken from the site od Massimo Tessitori (see here : http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/mig3/blacknose18.html.) Massimo explains that the plane can be seen on a movie but he is not able to guess wich unit he belonged to. I made this skin because I wanted to make an orginal green/black paint scheme. So here it is : Download link: http://www.unbound-frogs.org/zsf/2016/01/05/mig-3-18-blanc/ Hope you'll enjoy flying it. Nice skin but the download link on your page is not working, it takes me to another section of your website instead of downloading
SharpeXB Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Ok white winter and camo done with matt paintjobs plus semigloss red paint and shiny metal paint chips. Very nice work. However you should give your skin files names which are more unique than just "green" or "white" A more complex name will reduce the chance that someone else will make a skin with the same name and overwrite yours in the folder
Danziger Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 (edited) I also think the MiG-3 template should be updated. If it is supposed to be the stock green skin it comes out quite different if you try to save it as-is. The color comes out brighter than the in game green skin. The shadows layer is in the wrong place. The gun pod tops and center gun cover aren't colored so most people miss them and they wind up being grey on the plane. The little rectangular panel on the port side wing root always comes out too bright unless you color it about ten shades darker. Not to mention with the 3d model fix some shadow lines and metal chips for the chin scoops have moved and the demarcation lines under the nose have been changed. I think an update to the template could eliminate a lot of confusion. Edited May 22, 2016 by BorysVorobyov
Danziger Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 (edited) http://www.mediafire.com/download/v15t5mhy589ikjc/White18.dds My first attempt at a historical skin. I liked the white 40 that I unlocked so much that I decided to do a similar one white 18. It is just a basic early green with field added black bands and nose. Before I release it though I am still working on a couple of things. I am thinking about toning down the weathering a bit. I also deleted the starter tooth using the alpha channel so no matter what armament you choose there will be a clean spinner. Edited June 5, 2016 by BorysVorobyov 1
Danziger Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 http://www.mediafire.com/download/3113l2i8c9cpzdl/BV_Stripes.dds This is the final version of my stripes paint job. Yours won't have my wife's name on it though. I have also toned down the weathering a bit and lightened some of the panel lines. This one is also without the starter tooth. 1
