Content of the Mod:

 

Early Normandy Map 1940 RAF airfields:

(created by me)

-modified map with only 1940 RAF airfields

-all 1941-44 Airfields deleted

-huge Manston Airfield replaced by smaller grass airfield (requirement for changed static objects)

-All other 1940 RAF airfields with grass runway but with same layout for same static objects by the official template

(you will find the static airfield objects for individual mission design in the CoopTemplate_THE CHANNEL.Mission of the EMG Mod)

 

8 x 0.303 Browning armed Spitfire (similar MKIa, MKIIa, MKVa)

-most importent: Skin without visible cannons by Off_Winters

-weapon mod of HispanoMKII cannon with reduced rate of fire that all weapons fire for ca. 18seconds continously.

-only machine gun weapon sound

-in IL-2 now as default british palne for QMB missions

 

General weapon mod:

-All machine guns / cannons with slightly increased dispersion of 6..7Mils.

-modified 20mm HE "he_020mm_92g_20g_object.txt" with reduced charge for german early standard 20mm MG-FF cannon for

early BF109-E3 and BF110-C1 or C2 usage. (to be removed for BF109-E4/E7 or BF110-C4 Missions)

Change: now deactivated by default for standard BF109E4 and BF109E7 usage

activate by removing the XXX:

AI Mod:

-light and heavy AAA-gunner bots open fire at higher distance

-some planes, especially BF109-E7 and new E4 with reduced max. fire distance (300m) to avoid waste of ammunition

 

Modified Cockpit plate with removed hint for automatic propeller controll for E3 missions:

When I will be back from vacation I will try to create an alternative BoF and BoB campaign mission set of the already released campaign missions with the E7 replaced by the E4.

And of course I will add the E4 to the BoF and BoB Easy Mission Generator Modifications.

That would be great! ( an aside: my gunsight on the E-7 is very dim…dim enough to be useless, but the E-4’s gunsight is bright, so you can imagine how much I look forward to your substitution…not to mention the E-4 is better suited to battle of France and Battle of Britain scenarios.)image.jpeg.5a2e055c058b4da2ce135a2933cca2e8.jpeg

Greetings


It would be great if someone would one day host a dedicated multiplayer server with this Battle of Britain mod for all of us who have it downloaded. It would be the most authentic way to relive that battle in the simulator, especially for those of us who have virtual reality.

Concerning the plane types a question: have you already solved the issue with the sight of the BF109-E7?

For me both gun sights of the E4 and the E7 are exactly the same...

No the E-7 sight is still on the block and has been for quite a while. It comes back briefly usually for a short bit but father the next update resumes its lack luster lighting.It doesn’t seem connected with use of “Mods” either when they re on or off…🫥

I may have missed the opportunity to install these as a campaign? I put them all int missions via JSGME.

Hi @Blitzen,

I never put my campaigns in a modpack for this reason:

-It takes much time to fly my campaigns, the existing ones have between 30 to more than 80 missions and the new Luftwaffe 40-45 will have at the end much more...

(of course you can reduce the number of campaign missions if you want)

-If I start to fly a campaign it will takes maybe a month to fly.

-If in this case if the campaign is a part of a JSGME installed modpack, whole modpack has to be installed until the campaign is completed.

-But maybe tomorrow you want to fly some missions in the desert and for this you have to deinstall the mod with JSGME. The results of your campaign would be deleted in this case.

This is the reason why you have to copy the campaign manually into your main Campaign folder.

Hmmm - Beeing neither a MOD nor a JSGME expert, I tried to install ( and it felt straightforward ) but cannot find any missions in my IL2.

 

I am using a Steam install ( so have to copy all this including JSGME into ..\steamapps\... )

Is this maybe my problem / do Mods not run with a Steam installation ?

 

Remark: I do not own the Odessa part so far ( as not available at Steam ). Maybe this also plays a role ?

 

Sorry if my questions are anyhow stupid, but ..well ... it's my first IL2 mod installation.

G'day All,

I'm working on a small package of Bf109E4 refinements that can be added into Krauts great BoB mod. replacing all E4 skins with BoB period schemes. menu will show new schemes in game preview window with revised historical descriptions.

Blank skins that use the in-game Tac-Code system are still blank just with various JG group markings etc of the period. and skins that don't use the Tac-Code system have schemes depicting pilots of the Period. the in-game Helmut Wick scheme I have changed to match his aircraft of September rather than as its shown for November when he was shot down. I'll do the same for the Galland skin as well which is currently showing his plane from December 1940.

I'm going to do the same for the Spitfire and Hurricane as well. and eventually I'll do the 109E7, Me110E2, Ju88A, He111 and Stuka (but thats long long term)

I'm primarily doing this for myself and our small online flying group, but if others would like it I'll upload.

G'Day giftgruen,

When you install the BoB mod with JSGME it does not install missions. it only installs the scenery and aircraft/vehicle changes etc.

To install the missions you need to download the campaign/mission files.

Create a folder and then unzip the files into your newly created folder.

Then copy the your entire new mission folder into your main game folder structure. that would be an address something like this for steam version
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\Missions

unzip the mission files into new folder                                                                                            then copy the folder to your games mission folder

now when you start the game you should see the folder in your mission directory, click on the folder and you should see the list of missions.

Not owning the Odessa module should not be a problem. but you will have to download the missions that use the Bf109-E7 do not select the missions that use the Bf109-E4 as you do need Odessa to get that aircraft as player flyable.

So on Kraut1's mission/campaign page, you would select this set.

Maybe, if you are interested, you could consider some EMG settings and settings of my already partly released campaign for compatibility with your mod.

 

I have used for the BF109-E4 and E7 already 2 of the blank skins for (sorry) different units in my campaign (without unit insignias):

The early west blank skin:

bf109e7_blank_03.dds

bf109e4_blank_03.dds

The west blank skin:

bf109e7_blank_02.dds

bf109e4_blank_02.dds

So if you could leave these both skins for the E4/E7 neutral without unit insignias your skin mod could be compatible with my campaigns.

 

All other planes are currently not used by me for specific campaigns so you can continue working as you want.

 

For the BF109-F2 I have created already a (not released) MG-FF Weapon Mod to simulate the early BF109F1 that was tested in combat beginning in October 1940 by Stab JG51 and I. JG51. Currently I plan to use the early 1940 factory skin.

I will start to create the missions with the F1 I think in ca. 1 or 2 weeks and they will be published later.

So if there would be a blank JG51 skin available by you I could consider it in the campaign. 

I think it is this skin (I have currently installed your Tunisia mod):

Yes, this would be great.

It is always difficult for the pilots to understand when only this mod to be used and when both together.

And the skin for the JG51 F1 would be great! (bf109f2_blank_03.dds) And it would be realistic because only this unit tested the F1 in autumn 1940.

My current campaign pilot is still only Unteroffizier (flight sergeant) and he will fly in the I.Gruppe.

But in the campaign missions they could flight together with the Stab.

I have reduced the rate of fire of the MG151/20 to the MG-FF values and I have increased the dispersion a bit. And maybe I will additionally increase the temperature increase / round to create gun stoppages when firing too long bursts...

And if a player is really interested to simulate the F1 he has either to fire 140rounds before the combat or alternativly he has to stop using the cannon after 60 rounds are used.

Aaaah, have it running now, the problem was simply me.

Instead of putting it in the missions folder I took the campaign folder. Stupid - and my fault.

So now ... first mission flown.

What a joy - thank you so much, dear modders :)

 

Early 109s are so pure, early Hurricanes such a slow prey ;) and ... early Spit pilots need to learn what their beautyful plane could be able to do.

So I came home with two kills and some smoking Me .... a little bit Browning peppered.

 

( and as soon as a wish become true .. the next one arises: ... a campaign maybe .. 😉 ? )

( EDIT:  I see that there are campaigns - great.  Have to figure out how it works. )

 

(( Personally remember the channel water rather be grey and unfriendly. InGame looks rather like Maledives. But I assume that's a game constraint (?) )

Small factoid: Luftwaffe was still using E-1 planes (4 x 7,92 machine gun, no 20mm cannons) in Oktober 1940. Something often forgotten. Interesting documentary worth watching about this and other facts by the well known experts Simon Perry and Mark Postlethwaite here:

I have seen this video too. Very interesting.

But the simulation of the BF109-E1 in IL2 Great Battles for Battle of Britain by weapon modifications is more problematic than the modification of the British Hispanos as 0.303, because if I modify the MG-FF/M all other german fighters BF109-E4,E7 and all BF110 would be inflicted too.

For the Spanish Civil War as far as I can remember I have modified the 20mm MG-FF/M HE mine shells to 13mm MG131 HE to simulate the early 4x MG17 BF109 C / D.

And for the very early A/B with 2 MG17 I could manipulate the MG-FF/ M that it overheats/jams at the very first round + a huge dispersion to avoid that the first 2 rounds hit.

 

And there seems to be a huge  interest in the community of the IL-2GB Forum in the Battle of Britain (and France) topic:

 

After I have released the BoB  mods the downloads were extremly high compared with all other content that I have released.

Normally ca 10 to 100 DL per campaign/mod per year. But for BoB:

BF109-F1 MG-FF/M Motor cannon finally tested today, now with additional stoppages after too long bursts of 10...50 rounds (by random).

+slower rate of fire / higher dispersion for simulation of MG-FF/M

For the test I have created a preliminary JG51 skin until you are back at your computer😀

This all looks great and i really enjoyed earlier version of BOB mod but.....What happened to the Battle of Britain missions that were broken down by time period,ie. July Battles, early BOB ,Hardest Day etc.

UPDATE: I downloaded BOB Modpack v 2 and found those missions!!

 

Also my Spitfire still has cannons showing if I select one of the missions noted above. But the cannons do not show when I select Spitfire in QMB AND select Default skin.If I pick other than default skin the cannons appear. I guess that's an Alpha Channel edit?

Also my Spitfire still has cannons showing if I select one of the missions noted above. But the cannons do not show when I select Spitfire in QMB AND select Default skin.If I pick other than default skin the cannons appear. I guess that's an Alpha Channel edit?

In the mod only the default spitfire MkV skin has the cannons removed.


This means any missions created that call on skins from the rest of the list will still show cannons.

 

I’m working on a set of Spitfire skins to replace all available skin options except 1 skin left for a 92 squadron skin that historically tested the Hispanos during the BoB period. Which will remedy this situation.

When this mod is installed by default the Spitfire is modified for a "only machine gun armament".

 

But it is easy to change the armament to the default 20mm cannons:

-Deactivate the "only machine gun sound" by renaming this file to e.g.: XXXspitfiremkvb.cfg

-Deactivate the very slow rate of fire by renaming this file to e.g.: XXXac_eng_hispano_mkii.txt

By doing this the default 20mm Hispano MKII cannons with ammunition for ca. 6 seconds of continuous auto fire are available again.

Imagine if they released a MkI Spitfire. With the Hurricane already available, that would be close enough to a plane set to create some great BoB era content.

We already have VR and great clouds, and apart from missing London, this would almost kill off CloD.

Okay, apart from the fact that I don't want to kill CloD:

-In respect of the BF109, Hurricane, Spitfire we would have some suitable planes for August 40 (and later missions)

-The BF110E and the He111H6 are similar to the BoB variants too, with their MG17 (and MG-FF) armament.

-What still would be required is a

  -Ju88-A1 or A5 with MG15 armament

  -and most importent a Ju87-B with the very different canopy and the bigger cooler, +MG15

Concerning VR: Yes, for me it is already now great!

I have flown (and survived) during the last 2 months 40 campaign missions in BoF and BoB, ca 75% with Monitor and ca.25% with VR and I really liked it.

I agree….I’d settle for CloD Vr to just go back to a point where the landscape and buildings were back..not so important in the bleak landscape of DW Trobruk….Years (!) are passing for full release of F&F Dieppe…
