Do Steam players have to wait for the Steam release to integrate with current install? In other words, if I buy the non-steam Odessa module today, will it integrate with the modules that I have purchased through Steam? Does mixing Steam and non-Steam IL-2 modules cause integration issues?

Possibly a silly question, however, will the new aircraft in this addon get added to other careers on other maps as well?

Yes, that's the plan. The first two are already available in QM and AQM modes on Soviet maps.

If you don't have an IL2 account, you can login on the IL2 website using Steam login option there, register and purchase what you want, then next time you run the game on Steam you'll see the new content. Another option is to click on the automatically generated player name in the main menu when running the game on Steam - you'll be asked if you want to register and then it will go the same way. There should be no issues.

Just proves the old adage that biplanes rule. if only the 109 was a biplane. Nice to see an assortment of FC bug fixes too, for which I am thankful.

Ju 87 D-3: corrected captions for cockpit oil radiator flap control handle;

You still need to swap the direction of the lever
Right now Auf (open) is 0% and Zu (closed) is 100%

37mm NS-37/Sh-37:
Outer wingtip: 1 hit
(Balkenkreuz)-Inner wing: 1-2 hits

Head you tested it before?   If so, was it the same or easier to rip wings off with the 37mm before?

I always loved the Yak-9T for it's ability to one shot a 109 in the wing to remove it.

It seems like the RPM control ought to be slow on the I-153. It seems to have the same sort of knurled wheel as the Yak 1 s69, the Lagg-3, the Il-2s, etc. But on those it moves very slowly, and on the I-153 it responds instantly.

I like the Lagg-3 series 4!🙂

From my point of the still to do:

-the levers of water cooler / oil cooler changed later: oil cooler is fixed according specication) are currently not animated / moving in the cockpit.

-manual water cooler control is only active changed later: after take off after the engine is running for some time. When starting on the runway or from parking position I am not able to adjust the cooler.

-oil cooler manual control currently not possible (but full open by default / flying possible) changed later: this is no issue, according to specification.

Already a nice plane!

In the LaGG-3 ser.4 description it states oil radiator shutter is fixed, so not adjustable.

I can adjust the water radiator shutter ok when starting on the runway and from parked so I dont know why you have that issue.

No cockpit animation though.

I'm just wondering why the Odessa map is actually blocked for non-early access buyers?

How is this map and later the Gulf of Finland map supposed to become known and in demand on online servers? Frankly speaking, I think that such an approach makes the whole product useless for online players. Whether this will help with DLC sales is for others to judge, I have my doubts.

All our maps are always available in online missions for all players.

It does not matter whether the add-on is purchased or not.

With planes - yes. If the author of an online mission uses planes that are not purchased by the player, then such a plane will not be available for use.

Just want to throw my thanks and support out there for the new update and early access! I had to get it. Its great to see this new content coming through and that the game will continue to receive further content through 2026. I'm tempted to think this future content could be somewhat modest like collector planes and some of the previous announcements (Zeppelins) as well as updates to Flying Circus but I am curious to see what is announced.

Anyway the new map of Odessa is indeed very nice, the contours and colours of the beaches and coastline are really something. The details around the railway junctions and lines, train stations are also really pleasing to fly around. I absolutely had to give it a go at landing on the little concealed airfield in Odessa. It's quite neat, and somehow I managed to land an Me 410 on it 😄 ...after a fair few attempts as a personal challenge I set myself.

That I-153 is a real ball of fun and really entertaining to whip around, while the early LaGG-3 I can only describe as lacklustre in performance but has some quirky handling and stall characteristics to contend with (which did made me panic and laugh at the same time). Flying these aircraft against the surprisingly capable AI (Bf 109 E's) it became clear very quickly that you can get picked off at a moments notice even with a nimble fighter like the I-153. It does focus the mind on how overwhelmed Soviet pilots must have felt when they were hit by the Luftwaffe and it must have been a very desperate fight to survive at that early stage of the war.

I'm quite looking forward to the Gulf of Finland map which will bring back many memories from IL2 1946, in the meantime I'm going to have to repeatedly pinch myself until the Yak 3 arrives in the summer. I'm certain the Yak 3 is going to put a smile on people's face and become one of the most popular dogfighters in the game when its added.

The change log has some good improvements across the board. I appreciate the improvement to the wing durability of the Bf 109 series which in my mind puts that subject to bed. Its still possible to cause wing failure with overwhelming firepower, but it'll be much less easy to achieve in a single or glancing burst of fire and the need to get in very close to realistically do this fits the bill precisely. Had wing failures been a common occurrence, with such high probability under fire as some continue to suggest - Luftwaffe pilots would have been reporting this with traumatised anger seeing their fellow pilots being torn down so easily with little chance of bailing out. It would have certainly been escalated sooner or later into the political and engineering offices. The idea that wing structural failure was a primary cause of aircraft loss would have been immensely concerning to the Luftwaffe considering this aircraft represented the bulk of its fighter force and was used so extensively and in service for so long. There's just no sound basis to support that belief, or reliable evidence or statistics to suggest it was happening with such high probability. Cherry picking gun camera footage or clutching at individual accounts is not a sound argument because you can generate any argument that way if you search hard enough... and you will always find specific cases. It doesn't help people's perceptions that many series & documentaries have often re-used easily available and often highly dramatic footage they can find to illustrate programmes. It doesn't mean this was reflective of typical engagements - in fact media can be often biased towards extreme footage/events to entertain or emphasise what the programme is trying to get across.

It would alo great if we ever got a career mode to cover the battle of France and Britain. We already have the map. Maybe just to expand and add London and new airfields too.

So far it looks like I-153 will be part of the basic S&L module, not a separate aircraft

I've been discovering new things about Odessa.  There are some interesting landmarks in the city; i.e. Potemkin stairs from the harbor up to the city.

The map-makers added some special touches to this beauty!

I also found the location for the 411th Coastal Defense Battery (Grid 1825).  This should give mission-builders some good ideas!

I just bought the early access to Odessa/ Leningrad. I have a CH Combatstick 568 USB, CH Pro Throttle USB & CH Pro Pedals and the last I flew IL-2 Sturmovik was last night and they worked just fine when programmed for IL-2 Sturmovik. I just bought the early access to Odessa & Leningrad and now when I program them for IL-2 Sturmovik my computer shuts them off – as if I haven’t programmed them at all. I’ve also tried to program them for Rise of Flight with the same result. Since they were all working 2 nights ago and I just bought Odessa/Leningrad, it makes me wonder if there is a correlation between buying Odessa/Leningrad and my CH issues?
