kraut1 Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 Hi All, I have started a new 1945 eastern front campaign and I would like to use the historical correct gun convergence distance for the novice pilot. For a FW190-A8 with standard armament 4x MG151/20 + 2xMG131. Many thanks in advance!
Yogiflight Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 (edited) @kraut1 the historical gun convergence for the FW 190 A8 was 550 m for the MG 151/20 and 400m for the MG 131. So I always use 550m. It is from the A6 onwards. The earlier 190s used 400m. Eisbaer was faster than me. Edited December 22, 2024 by Yogiflight 1
JG27*PapaFly Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 (edited) Unfortunately, the game does not support historic gun convergence and harmonization settings for the 190ies. They used different settings for the vertical and horizontal convergence for the different guns. These settings also changed between 190 versions. See following link for convergence settings of A6 and A7/8. In the vertical, the inner and outer 20 mm cannons converged at 550 m, which meant that the rounds crossed the sighting line at 120-150, and then again at 550. Horizontally, the inner 20ies converged at 600 m, the outer 20ies at 800 m. The machine guns did not converge horizontally, but converged vertically at 550 m. In IL-2 46 I used a convergence of 150 m for the outer cannons, and 550 for the inner cannons and MGs. IMO that was the perfect combination. It gave me the ability to snipe opponents at long range with the inner guns, and maximized killing potential at short range. At 150 m, all projectiles were on the sighting line, and opponents were pulverized by the 4 cannons. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/27029-best-convergence-for-weapons-fw190/#findComment-427747 Edited December 22, 2024 by JG27*PapaFly 1

I will increase the convergence from my current 250..300m to 400...500m for my next missions. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/89556-jg54-courland-pocket-fw190-a8-kurland-kessel-1945-campaign-beta-071224-48-missions/
