Performance of new Ryzen 9000 series: 9600X, 9700X,

AMD released this summer the new Zen 5 line of CPUs using same socket than previous Zen 4.

Regarding single-thread performance (which is the one that matter for IL-2), they are on pair for the 9700X and a bit above for the 9600X with respect to Intel equivalents, but with half of TDP, so less cooling requirement.

It would be interesting to see how they perform with IL-2 in monitor and VR.

Hey! Did some tests with a friend on a 9700X and there was no change from the 7700X I tested beforehand or end in the margin of error. This was pre-new Windows update. But I still don't think it will change much.

I was actually able to test the 9950X in other tittles (not Il-2) and there were also little to no change in gaming. A 5800X3D / 7800X3D is the best option still.

I was dissapointed.

IMHO, just grab a X3D if you are going AMD route or a Zen 4 with discounted price.

We will also see the new Intel series (Which has a better ST performance in the tests so far.) I am getting one for my personal build this October.

Will update!

Kind regards,

The question is when will the zen 5 X3D processor be released?

That benchmark is pretty useless to judge CPUs for gaming, especially when sorted by thread performance.

I am only interested in the performance of IL-2 for every CPU (other games are not considered).

Along the past ten years a number of tests has been conducted with IL-2 and many CPUs.

We saw that the fps obtained a the CPU test of IL-2 was correlated to taht Thread Mark index (orange in monitor, blue in VR):

Of course other factors like RAM speed/latencies play a role in the IL-2 test, but I think this SingleThread passmark index is an important number to take into account.

IF you have shareable evidence of your tesis I would be happy to analyze it.

I would expect the X3D-CPUs to overperform in games and particularly in sims like IL-2, relative to their threadmark score.

Yes, that´s also right. That large amount of 3D cache improves the fps performance over the average fps for that given Passmark thread mark.

If you see below, based on the latest set of SYN_VANDER tests in monitor at 1080 (so GPU doesn´t play a role), the 3D model are always above the total average line.

The variations over the same CPU depends on RAM, cooling and tweaking CPU options.
