Sounds like the experience is going to be a bit more handcrafted than BoX's career? Not flying every day but more direction for the days that are there

I just opened up the forum, hoping.... man I wonder if we're going to be lucky enough to get another dev blog today?!

I see the post... YES!!!  Thank you guys!!

The idea of a hybrid campaign (dynamically generated missions, mixed with custom 'event' missions) was something we talked about years ago! It'll be really neat to see it.

I wonder if we'll be able to choose a 'super-fast' career mode that will skip the ordinary missions (or almost all of the ordinary missions)? For those of us with limited time, that'd be pretty neat. Anyway, the campaign system is clearly being developed in some very cool directions!

@LukeFF "In addition to the 32 major military events that the player will be able to participate in, there will be a total of approximately 130 days of combat in the Career mode."

Slightly ambiguous. Do you mean that:

- besides the 32 events there will be additional combat days making a total of 130 days of combat, or:

- there's 130 days of combat not connected to major events, making a total of at least 130+32 combat days (assuming all events only take a single day, which they likely don't)?

In the latter case, do you have an approximate number? :)

Thanks for the info, but still no word on multiplayer. I hope it comes soon, many communities are waiting for this.

I wonder how much action the Il-10 saw during the time frame of the career mode. I know it was used during the battle of Taehwa-do island, but did it see much action in 1952 and 1953? Or will the Il-10 career just cover 1951?

Seems like more "crafted" events on these major operations. Will likely be more lively and accurate!

Kind regards,

I'd love some clarification on this too.:)
The 32 finely crafted combat events sound awesome, but experiencing the 130 days around them would be an amazing career.

I don’t quite understand. The new career mode is based around being the Regimental Commander? A guy who didn’t generally fly?

lol!... looks like they want to turn us into remfs instead of combat pilots

Well, I'm not into farting around with admin or logistics, it's not an area I'm interested in for a combat flight sim... hopefully they will fill us in on what this all entails at some stage.

With any luck there will be an option to bypass all that stuff... but having been through the launch of BoS years ago, with all the gimmicks that created a crap storm and the game ended up being rescued, I feel a little bit of unease as to how this might pan out.

Still, I'll wait to see what they come up with in future updates... most of what I've seen so far is looking good!

In the future, judging by the way the resource management system is being received, it's probably a better idea to just not announce new mystery features unless you're also willing and able to give some details about it as well to defend it.

That would be a better question for @BlackSix to answer. 🙂

And more details on this will be forthcoming in our next podcast video.

Patience, people. 🙂

It was also used in mainland battles up through at least mid-1951 in the Iron Triangle area (western newspaper accounts erroneously refer to them as IL-2s), but again, this is more for BlackSix to answer.

If BlackSix is answering questions about the campaign - I'm very curious about the ability to time skip between events (as well as time skip within missions)! 😄 Any more info would be appreciated! Honestly, this is all a very exciting direction.

Time-skipping is also planned to be a topic of discussion in the next video. 😄

I'm not sure why some are already whining about the new career. I don't know about WWII careers as I don't have any modules, but the FC career is hardly inspiring and gets boring real fast. Repetitive missions, no attachment to your character or anyone else, bland layout, creepy photos and ultimately narcolepsy. One feels a sense of relief when one dies so that one may do the dishes or something equally engaging. In fact, one dies on purpose to achieve such relief.

I think any improvement is a step in the right direction.

Actually, that sounds like a pretty accurate representation of WW1 air combat.  Salute to the devs!  S!

Regarding the dev blog on the main site:

With the release of dev diary #3 the link to #1 seems to have vanished? (#1 can still be called up by its direct link, f.e. from here in the forum.) I tried to click on "News" and on "Read all" but I could only see #2 and #3 linked.

It is missing from the news page though!
