Hello guys, after update Nvidia Graphic card driver my HP Reverb G1 started to flashing and now is it impossible to play. I tested several way to solve these issues but any doesn't works. I also tryed to rollback driver from device manager but the rollback button is grey out so I can't rollback drivers.

Sometimes flashing continues also after game stopped:

There is a way to solve this issue, please?

Thanks for all your help!

Ciao!

If this started definetely after a GPU driver update then use DDU to uninstall them and do a clean installation. Other than that, make sure the cable is properly sitted on the HMD's side.

A couple of weeks ago I had a couple of cases, but they disappeareds  after the pc reboot. After that all gone fine.

Yep, I am watching some youtube videos to understand how to use DDU, avoiding to do mess. ?

A friend of mine, a professional photographer, told me that many other peoples using Nvidia products with photographer software, are having many problems after the lasts Nvidia driver updates.

I would hope these issues disappears with the next Nvidia driver updates.

Meanwhile I try to understand how to use properly DDU.

Hello guys, several months has passed from the last post. Nothing changed.... Nvidia drivers updates doesn't solve my issues, and the headsest has the same white flashing and/or blackout still now.

Playing is became a lucky strike. When I can I run the game, if all go fine I play, otherwise I turn off the pc or I do something else.

I am thinking to use DDU but a friend of mine, told me that Nvidia NVCleanstall do the same things and I have already tried NVCleanstall, but as I said, nothing changed.

So, wich alternatives could I have?

Ciao!

Have you tried going back to an older Nvidia driver, https://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx  once you've done a clean install?

Sadly my G2 had flickering issues last year, and then was pretty much dead.  I was lucky that I could return it and get credit, but that was after fighting with Amazon for a refund, otherwise I would have an expensive paperweight.

DDU.

IIRC nvcleanstall after debloating the driver based on the settings you select also offers the same "clean install" option as the driver does. It doesn't completely remove all old driver files.

If this doesn't help then I'm afraid it's hardware related. If it's not the cable then it sounds possibly like a bad capacitor in the backlighting power supply from your description: it only works properly once the capacitor is full but flickers as the capacitor tries to charge and fails.

Hello guys, thanks for your replies.

@Voxman: yep, I have already done this several times, but I had no improvements...

@firdimigdi: I really hope to solve with DDU. The alternative to replace the cable scared me a little....I don't know where could I find it.

A bad capacitor is even worse... For that I need a miracle, or a super technician... as long as there is someone who can fix it...🤞

Hello guys, well, yestarday I ran DDU and... nothing changed.... I have always the same issue.

I tried to take a movie trhoughout the headsets lens with my smartphone. Apart the smartphone camera focus working for and aft often, the flashing is clearly visible:

Then I taked another short video when I exited from the game but yet with VR running. In this case also the flashing is always visible:

Next step? I would try to replace the cable.... Do you know where can I buy the cable for my G1, please?

Thanks for all your help!

Ciao!

Initially you could try to unplug the cable from the headset's side and see if you can clean the contacts on it with some contact spray and a soft brush (or depending on access to the contacts a rubber eraser works as well). If you used contact cleaning spray let it dry thoroughly and reconnect.

EDIT:

Just saw online that it is a whole operation to actually get to the socket on the HMD's side on the G1. Good luck!

@firdimigdi many thanks mate! I will try as per your first suggestion, hoping it works. If not I must to find a good electronic technician to do the surgery cable replacement oculink sff-8611 connector, as you shared from reddit.

Hello guys, well, after several months, maybe, I solved the white noise and blackout troubles.
With a friend, enthusiast for electronics, we managed to replace the short cable whit what I bought on Amazon.
Now, on black background the color is solid and without blinking pixels, while before was a festival of blinking pixels.
In the few past days I tried a quick combat and I noticed no white noise or blackout, but the visual doesn't is stable and fluent.
Visual tends to refocus continuosly and jumping everywhere, also with jerks phenomenon. Sometimes I fly out of the plane.
There something to do to solve these issues and obtain a stable and fluent visual, please?
Thanks for your help, guys.
