Hi all....Anyone have one of these haptic sim pads?  Does it work with IL 2?  I'm just about ready to click on "buy now".  Is it worth 300.00cdn?  All input is greatly appreciated   take care   Eddie.

I have one and it is fantastic in IL-2 when paired with SimShaker Wings!  I find it comfortable and it doesn't get noticeably hot.

I also still have an old Buttkicker which I also use to add a little more umph to the engine beats using SimShaker Wings.

I say go for the HF8, but I also have a wife who makes more money than me and we don't have any children other than dogs and foster dogs ?

(For those unsure what an HF8 is, check it out at https://nextlevelracing.com/products/hf8-haptic-gaming-pad/ . )

Thanks Charlo-VR.  My wife got involved in this too.  She knew I was inerested in the HF8, so she ordered it for me as an aniversarry gift. It got delivered today.  Now that I know you have this pad, can you let me know how youset it up for IL 2?  Are there particular settings in software etc required?  I ca't find much on line on software settings for IL 2.   Your help is appreciated.   I'm going to unbox my HF8 and get it ready while awaiting any instructions from you, or any other HF8 owners in this forum.   Thanks again my friend   take care   Eddie.

That's very sweet!  My wife surprised me with a leather 1920's pilot's helmet once.

Below is a screenshot of my settings I use with SimShaker Wings, available at the link below. I also use a Buttkicker, so if you only use the HF8 then uncheck "Bass-shakers output". Andre at that SimShaker Wings thread is very responsive and supportive, a pleasure to interact with.

Thanks my friend.  Is the Sim Shaker Sim software needed to run the HF8?  I have no problem paying and downloading it, I just don't want it if I don't need it.  Know what I mean?  Thanks again Charlo-VR.  I really do appreciate your help.  Take care   Eddie.

I was also on the fence with the HF8 vs Ushake 6.

Is there any noticeable delay/latency in the response when you land for instance?

I read some negative comments about these delays.

I had been using SimShaker Wings a couple years before the HF8 was released, so I never felt the need to try Next Level Racing’s software for the HF8. In the Next Level Racing Discord there appear to be lots of complaints about their software, with people using Simhub as an alternative.

Simhub appears to offer lots of options but requires a bunch of trial and error. I never bothered with it as SimShaker Wings already provides for me an easy, immersive experience that I enjoy. Andre has already done the work for IL-2 (and I think DCS) in his SimShaker Wings.

I only play one game, IL-2, and someday when I have time to play DCS I hope to enjoy the same experience in SimShaker Wings.  I also hope when Cliffs of Dover is released with VR support that Andre will add that game to SimShaker Wings. The same goes for Combat Pilot, which is years away.

I’ve never noticed any latency from SimShaker Wings, nor have I seen anyone post about that. I feel the ground and gunfire rumbles when I would expect to.

I was also very tempted by the Ushake 6, but it doesn’t have the two shoulder transducers the HF8 has, which I suspect would mean I could not feel certain types of damage as I am shot by enemy aircraft. The Ushake 6 is clearly designed more for road racing games, though would probably work fine in Xplane and MSFS, where combat damage isn’t modeled.

OK    You convinced me Charlo-VR.   I'm going to downlad Sim Shaker Wings.  I'm going to fool around with the Next Level software to see what it's like, but it looks like Sim Shaker is the way I will end up going.  By the way, the Ushake 6 is also $300.00 more than the HF8.  I'm sure I made the right choice.  I'll let you know ho it goes.   Thanks once again Charlo-VR.    Take care    ..Eddie.

No delay in the response when you land? The delay apparently comes from the fact that the motors do not spin immediately, it is a something inherent to the solution design, although it comes at more reasonable cost than u-shake this which reponds to the sound immediately like a speaker would.

Interesting point and another reason I was so tempted by the Ushake 6!  With my HF8 (and my previous SimShaker Wings JetSeat pad) I've never noticed a delay in the wheel contact rumble when I land.

Of course, since I pretty much only fly on full-real MP servers I never see my wheels when they actually touch the ground, but nothing about what I feel creates a sensation of a noticeable delay. The experience feels intuitive and immersive to me.

Since you own both. I wander if you could explain how does the HF8 compare to the Jetseat pad?

May I ask why did you switch from Jetseat pad to HF8?

They both work pretty much the same. I used my Jetseat pad quite a lot over the last few years, and eventually the way the Jetseat sits beneath me and above the rather thick padded chair that came with my Next Level Racing Motion Platform v3, I found the Jetseat motors beneath my thighs getting on the hot side. Not enough to hurt, of course, but enough to where I started keeping them cooler by sticking some frozen icepacks underneath them.

So, I figured I would try the HF8 when it was released earlier this year, and I find it works just as well. I haven't had it long enough yet to know if the motors will also start to get hot, but once I fitted it onto my chair I just decided to keep using it until I ever have a problem with it. None so far!

I’m pretty sure yes - I don’t recall changing any settings but I didn’t save a screenshot of my previous settings

So you can run a HF8 and a Buttkicker at the same time?

I tried to buy  the Simshaker Wings, but it wouldn't let me open the page to huy it.  There was a free version listed there that I downloaded  and when I start it, I get a page that looks like the one you posted above in the general settings Charlo-VR.   I then started IL 2 and nothing happened. I disabled the simshaker software, then tried IL 2 with just the HF8 software and still nothing happened.  Should I have both Simshaker and HF8 running at the same time?  Should I run IL 2 with just the SimShaker software?  What am I doing wrong?  What do I load and start prior to launching IL 2?    I also have the Butt Kicker gamer 2.  That thing is just too loud and too difficult to set up for IL 2.  It has to be re-adjusted each timr I change a mission or airplane.  Please let me know EXACTLY each step required to get this friggin HF8 configured and working in IL 2.  IL 2 is the ONLY flight sim I play.  I really need the help.  Thanks again for all or any advice.   Take care everyone...   Eddie.

Eddie,

first of all you need to insert  two sections in IL-2“data/startup.cfg” as shown in this post

No, they will conflict with each other.

Yes, that's correct.

What do I load and start prior to launching IL 2?

I'd recommend you to run SimShaker Wings first and hit the Manual Start button in its Launcher window. The main SimShaker Wings window will appear. Then you start IL-2.

Thank you for this Andre.  Charlo-VR pointed that IL 2 config change in his post too.  I thought that config change was optional, not a prerequisite.  I've never done amy reistry changes to any game before, so I hope I follow the directions properly.  I'll let you know what my results are.  Thank you and Charlo-VR very much.  I'm impressed with the kind of help provided by the members on this Forum.  Take care all....Eddie.

Hi Andre.  What am I doing wrong?   I can not find that file anywhere.   I have my game on Steam, and every file I opened didn't show me that config filr I need for the HF8.   Where is it?  How the hell do I find and open the file you recommend?  This thing is driving me nuts.  Please help Andre.  I'll even PAY you to get my HF8 going.   Thank you very much Andre...take care    ..Eddie.

I understand that in order to have HF8 working with Il2 you need to buy wingshakers plus the realteus update, correct?

Does it mean that wingshakers will then be able to make use of the 8 motors of HF8?

Talking about SimShaker Wings software I suppose?

If so, yes, it's able to make use of the 8 motors of HF8. You can try it out with SimShaker Wings Demo mode.
And yes, you will want to use both base level license and Realteus seat support option.

Did you manage to make it work? Are you happy with it?

Hello Youtch.  Actually, no, I didn't get it going in IL 2.  I installed Wings software etc. and everything appeared to be OK.  I thought I had it all installed properly so I left it alone for a while.  I had to travel for a medical procedure, and had no time to start IL 2 until now.  I launch the game through PiTool, but when the game starts, I get nothing.  The sound sensor setting shows the 7kx, realtec on board and my  Nova Pro wireless headphones.  I tried each one, but still nothing.  I hope Andre sees this info.  That guy is a wizaed and super helpful.  I'll try a couple more things to click on in the software and maybe get lucky.  If not, I'll contact Andre.  I'll let you know how it goes.  Thanks buddy...take care...Eddie

Calling Andre....Any advice on my comment above?  Sould I enable the sound sensor?  If so,which sound device?  Should I use the mobo default sound?  When I click the "test" button, I get only one sensor vibrating.  No boxes to  open and test each speaker seperately or all at once. Is there a setting in IL 2 I should enable?  Why does my HF8 vibrate when testing, and then get nothing at all once I'm in the IL 2 game.   Any help is appreciated Andre.   Take care good buddy...Eddie.

Hi Eddie,

No, you should not use the Sound Sensor in case of IL-2. Please keep this feature disabled.

Please provide a screenshot of SimShaker Wings main window when running the game for checking.

Hi Andre.  I'm sorry to tell you, I don't know how to take a screen shot of Wings while in (IL 2. I'm not computer savvy at all.  Also, I'm 81 years old and find it difficult to understand all the boxes etc. that need to be clicked on for PC flight sims like IL 2.  Maybe I'll just wait for HF8 Haptic to release a patch to run IL 2.  I'm simply stumped with this software.  Thanks again Andre...take care..

Hi Eddie,

No worries, I believe we all here respect your age very much.

If you set a lower screen resolution in IL-2 Launcher settings for a while it may be much easier to switch between the windows and to make screenshots.

Hi Andre.  You have no idea how much I appreciate you trying to help me.  Your suggestion didn't work.  Here's what I did to get the game going with Wings...I activated Pimax PiTool which is required to run the 8kx as well as enabled Steam VR, which is also required.  I then opened Wings, clicked on the box that says IL 2 Great Battles, then I clicked  Manusl Start.  When that page opened, I couldn't find a way to launch IL 2 in the Wing options, so I launched the game using PiTool.  The game starts, but ALL access to the Wings software settings have vanished.  I checked "task mgr." and Sim Shaker wasn't there.  The game will start in normal VR mode only. I might have to reinstall IL 2, and or Sim Shaker.  There must be some kind of conflict with PiTool and Sim Shaker.  If I have to reinstall IL 2, will I have to reinstall that IIL 2 start up cfg.info for Sim Shaker to work with IL 2 over again?   I can't believe I can't get this software to work.  If I have to, I'll call a local PC maintainance gguy and pay him to come to my house and get this all insatalled for me.   I really really want this to work..  Thanks again Andre.   Do you have some kind of a similar pad for sale?  Is there anything similar available?  Take care Andre...talk later...Eddie.

I DID IT!    I got it going finally.  I don't really know what the hell I did right this time, but it works.  I uninstalled all PiTool and Sim Shaker software, then reinstalled both PiTool and Sim Shaker.  I then activated PiTool and Sim Shaker in the same manner I explained above, except for one thing.  Rather than launch IL 2 in PiTool, I launched it from my desktop icon, and Bingo, the pad vibrates and all is well.  I don't know why clicking the game from my desktop had anything to do with the shaker working, but it was the ONLY thing I did differently. Now it's just a matter of tuning the settings and away I go.  I so much appreciate the help and responses I received from the people of this foeum.  And of course, Andre.  Thank you my friend...If anyone has tips on setting the vibration  levelsfor each of the 8 speakers, that too would be much appreciated.  Any and all info related to the HF8 is what I need.  Thank you all once again   Special thanks to Andre.  Take care....Eddie.

Ah I found this, forget I mentioned anything!

The NLR HF8 Vibrating Pad Output is greyed out. I just got this vibrating pad, what do I do to enable this greyed out portion?

Never used PiTool to be honest. I mostly start IL-2 with it launcher, except when I wan to postpone its update.
Glad you are happy with it now. You are the man, Eddie!

Yes, but most likely it's not an option for you.
I developed and produce my own version of vibrating seat, SimShaker Pad, which I like a lot.

I live in Russia. I do not ship abroad due to the sanctions/counter sanctions. I'm sorry.

What are your first impressions of hf8 vibrations?

Posted

Hi there Youtch.  Seems that when you ask a question re the HF8, I respond with an issue.  Firstly, I'm happy with the vibrations.  They are very powerful and easy to increase or decrease the vibration level with that pod that comes with the seat pad. The issue I have, albeit a small issue, is how to adjust the sound or vibration level of each speaker seperately.   Whwn I launch IL 2, ALL speakers vibrate at the same level.  I tried moving the sliders on the Manual Start page, but that didn't help.  Once again I'll need Andre.  To be honest Youtch, I think I"M tha problem. I almost always have a problem fully understanding how to set up new software. The HF8 is a great seat.  Very well built, comfortable to sit on for long periods. {I haven't removed the pad from my chai since I recieved it}   Once Andre tells me what I'm failing to do, I think you would be more than OK ordering one of these pads.  Too bad we can't get one from Andre.  I would buy ANY product he might have for sale.  I base that on his support.  That guy backs up what he produces.  Period.  Anyhow...Andre???  Are you reading this?  I'll send a seperate note to Andre if he doesn't see this one.  Meantime, I highly recommend the HF* Youtch. Not much else available at present..  Not with 8 speakers that's for sure.   Thanks again ...tyake care...

Hi Eddie,

Yes, I'm reading. I'm afraid I don't quite understand what the problem is. Vibration strength of the actuators is predefined in the software as well as which of them to engage at the moment. Flaps movement effect is different from the ground bumps one, for example. Most pilots are happy with this.
Does it work different in your case so you need more adjustments to me made?

Hi Andre.  My issue is that there is no seperate vibrations from the transducers when firing guns, engine etc. etc.  It feels like the vibration is coming from all transducers no matter what I do flying the aircraft.  I can increses the vibrations as well as decrease, but I don't know how to get a seperate vibration from each transducer to increase or decrease the different effects of firing weapons, flaps etc. etc.  I'm sure the issue is something simple.  It may well be something I'm doing.  I'm an idiot when it comes to software setups etc.  I do have an excuse for my being a bit slow in understanding software.  I live in Canada.  Pot is legal in Canada.  That's all I'm gonna say.   Anyhhow Andre my good friend, above are the issues.  Am I still doing something wrong?   Thank you once again...take care Andre...

I will probably go for it, and buy as well the HF8. I tried the buttkicker once and I didn t like it. It didn t work for my chair, I was feeling no vibration and only noise.

I will give a try now to HF8. Give a test with Andre s software and check if it is more convincing than the buttkicker.

@Andre: In order to do so, will i have to download the demo version of both software, the one for Il2 SIMSHAKER WINGS and the one for Realteus upgrade?

https://andres-shop.simshaker.com/software/28-simshaker-wings.html

https://andres-shop.simshaker.com/software/48-simshaker-wings-option-realteus-forcefeel-support.html

If I want to use it in both Il2 and DCS, does it mean that I have to buy also the Simshaker for aviator?

Posted

One more thing for Andre.  The Sim Shaker Wings software I'm using says "beta"  Is that the correct one to use?
