War in the channel (Hurricane MKII)

Timeframe: September 1941

Unit: No. 615 (County of Surrey) Squadron

Aircraft: Hurricane MKII

Duration: 11 Missions

This campagin follows No 615 Squadron as they moved from Scotland to Manston airfield in September of 1941. When here No 615 squadron did amongst others air defence missions, strikes against german targets in the channel and sweeps in France.   

Many of the missions are based the squadron logs from 615 and I have with a few exceptions tried to make the weather close to the historical weather reports from the the days portrayed. 

 

I have borrowed skins from Artspurg and -=Piciu=- so great thx to them! 

 

 

Some notes: There wil be hud messages so better keep that on. 

In 1941 Manston airfield did not have that big concrete runway. I did not learn the surface editor well enough to get rid of it outside my local game. Instead i made a cheap litle trick to get rid of it. 

The campaign was made and testede in vr, but shoud work fine outside as wel. 

 

Install: Put the Data folder in your main Il2 folder.

My antivirus detects a Trojan in the downloaded campaign file...

Am I the only one? Maybe a false positive?

Hello, sorry about that. It contain only the campagin files and two custom skins. I dont know why it woud detect virus but il check on my end and reupload it if I can fix it ?

I have scanned all the files and the zip file with my antivirus (Windows defender) and did not detect anything.  Do you happen to know witch file gives a positive, then il remove it. Everything is made by me or downloaded with the skin downloader app so I cant understand where a virus woud come from.

I have uploaded a version that is compressed as a zip file (not 7zip) maybe this wil stop the antivirus from triggering?

Thank you for the campaign @Sandmarken. The 7zip file structure is messed up though. You have "graphics" under the "Campaigns" folder. No issue with the zip-file.

I have uploaded an updated version with bugfixes. Mission 10 had some weird bugs with allied units turning axis and making a alot of mess. Its been fixed!

I´m quite surprised you don´t have much feedback. I really like your campaign, missions are varied, not too long and quite challenging  (I have not yet succeeded in destroying a submerged submarine with machine guns ?)

Thank you very much. ? The submarine is more of an easter egg. It wil be patroling the channel in many of the missions, and shoud submerge when planes comes to near. I think you can destroy it with the cannons when you eventually gets them ?

If there is no description and you cant start, sounds like you need to resave the campaign. You do this by opening editor, find the menu called tools and then resave in folder. Choose the campaign and wait for it to finish.  Then it shoud work ?

Yes the prosedure is the same if I have understood your problem correct. You May also try to download the campaign again as it shoud be up to date and not in need of resaving. Remember to place the folder you download called data in you main il2 folder. Then it shoud show in scripted campaigns section in game.

Excellent campaign. One of the best I've played even compared to the 'official' scripted campaigns.

 

Diverse and interesting missions (loved the finding the downed pilot mission) and great to see the 'leaning over France' period in 1941-2 represented, esp. as it doesn't fit in either Il2 GB or CloD timeframes/theatres.

 

Found the evening interception mission (#2?) a bit dark and had to let the AI do it for me but apart from that, thoroughly good.

Thank you! Im very happy you enjoyed it ? Mission two has the problem of not being late enough for the searchlight to turn on even if its pretty dark. If I find a solution to make the lights actually turn on il update it ?

i give up tryed everything you guys suggested and still no go, i tryed other scripted campaigns and 90% of them do not work, i get a message in the beginning with other ones stating description is loading but nothing happens, as far as the original two i started with in this reply i get not even a mission selection to be  availably shown, do updates from the dev team out date these home made campaigns by modders? the ones that do work are the ones i purchased from the store

Since you have problems with most campaigns i think this problem comes from your computer. I had someone else comfirme the campagin to work yesterday. If you have any mods installed try remove those.  If you are on steam validate the game. And if no steam maybe a reinstall?

Just saying, your campaign works perfectly fine. I just finished 1st mission and got the recce 110. Thanks for your work!

Dear Kaizerhund4,

It is clear that you need to update your campaigns {including this one) to work with the latest version of the game.  The offical (purchased) campaigns are automatically updated, but those developed by the community need updating by 'resaving' using the Editor whenever the gane is updated.  The process is explained elsewhere on this forum.

Yes please! I guess the 1941-1943 timeframe at the Channel still offers enough options for wonderfully crafted campaigns.

I agree, and it hasn't really been covered, at least not for a couple of decades: Rhubarbs, Rodeos, Circuses. etc.

 

Someinteresting aircraft too with various evolutions of 109s, 190s, Spits, Hurris, Typhoons, etc.

There are alot of interesting options.

I think @AEthelraedUnraed is making a 1942 Hurricane campaign and if i understood right @ThunderBat is making one for  spitfire mk5. Im very much looking forward to those ?

I have had some ideas for a Mosquito or A20 one. ?

Your efforts toward a mosquito campaign would be very welcome. This beautiful aircraft has been too neglected for far too long. Much appreciate your hurri campaign. Very immersive and nice challenges along the way. Thank you!
