FoxbatRU Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 Can you please tell me if there is a solution to the problem of constantly loading cities again? In Normandy it was not so conspicuous. And in the Rhineland, the cities are big and they flash all the time. Maybe you can write something in the files (startup.cfg, gpresets.cfg)? gorod.rar 2
Billsponge1972 Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 I've heard 4x supersampling does well but makes for reddish orange smoke. ? It might take some experimenting in the startup.cfg or video card settings.
[CPT]Crunch Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Render distant buildings seems to work best for me. 1
FoxbatRU Posted January 16, 2023 Author Posted January 16, 2023 Thanks. Yes, I have this setting enabled. The distant hangars of airfields can be seen from afar and they do not blink. But blocks of cities apparently work on a different technology.
easterling77 Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 (edited) I encounter the same problem you mentioned in your video @FoxbatRU and so far I didn't found a way to solve this. My hope is that someone will find a solution. I have quite of time the next days and will mess around with the settings in hope of finding something helpfull - but my chances are pretty dire, but if I get something I'll post immediatly. FoxbatRU Posted January 20, 2023 Author Posted January 20, 2023 Thank you. it would be great. I tried to change the parameters, but did not notice any pattern. For convenience, you can use the recording of the track that is played on the video in the title message. The track is attached to it.
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 (edited) Have same issue with disappearing cites, somethings even with 4k plane skins in multiplayer. I have il2 installed on fast M.2 nvram drive, enough ram on system and GPU (11GB) . Btw better name for this topic would be not blinking but disappearing/ reappearing cites when don't look and look at them Edited January 20, 2023 by 1PL-Husar-1Esk
IckyATLAS Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 This problem is map specific. The Rheinland map has this issue and with the worst effect. Kuban map does not have it at all. Once the city is loaded because it was once in your field of view it stays put. The problem is that when you look at the city it may load the objects so you see the city appearing, but then if you move your head and look away so that the city is not visible at all anymore, it gets outside the field of view, and after a few seconds you look again then there is not city and objects have to be loaded again and they appear in general as a quick succession of patches. It is very disturbing. This has already been mentioned to the devs but they did nothing. The Kuban map remains up to today still the best map. Maybe Normandy map is at the same level but I am not sure not having tested it enough. To test for this "blinking object loading effect" it is better to check with large cities where it is very visible.
easterling77 Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 Ok thank you for this info @IckyATLAS. So far as I checked it's like you said (don't know why didnt't find your mentioned postings to the devs - maybe bad investigating from my side) My understanding of fine tuning the graphic specs is quite limited - I tried so far many combinations of different settings for distand buildings rendering and horizon distance but they didnt had an effect on the problem. My sytem as a bottleneck, seems not to be the case with 3080gpu / Ryzen 9 5950X cpu / 64GB ram. The most common issue I got on Rhineland, as you said - checekd it in the Duisburg, Cologne, and Eindhoven area. It also occured to me on Normandy, here I noticed it in the area between Calais and Boulogne-sur-Mer. When I flew from one city to the other there comes a particular moment when I got enough distance to the one city - I got the "blinking buildings" by looking to it and away, but the closer of the cities stayed stable by looking to it and away. So at the moment there's nothing we can do about this? Hm....sad to hear? (PS: Excuse my violationg of english grammar and writing^^)
Dauntless Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 In the Nvidia control panel, global settings, change the shader cache size. I set mine for 5 GB. I have no issues on any of my sims or games. Good Luck. 1

Aircraft skins can be dealt with in a single-player at least, tk. You can use mods there. 5 часов назад, IckyATLAS сказал: This problem is map specific. In Normandy, this is not so conspicuous. There are smaller cities. Only Cannes flashes a little. In other maps, cities apparently do not consist of such large blocks. Moscow didn't blink like that. Here, developers may need to provide a larger buffer size so as not to re-request information about the city every time. But since the card is old and nothing has been done with it so far, it remains to look for workarounds. 4 часа назад, Dauntless сказал: In the Nvidia control panel, global settings, change the shader cache size. easterling77 Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 So far, adjusting the shader cache didn't change the issue for me too. To this moment I mixed many different combinations of landscape filter - horizon distances - distand building rendering - MSAA/FXAA - HDR on/off and the above mentioned shader cache. For the fact I don't understand the whole parameters of the nvidia control panel, I didin't wanted to mess around with it to much. So sadly I got really quick to the end of my possibilities. Sorry @FoxbatRU but for now I don't have any clue if there is a solution so there comes the point from @IckyATLAS in my mind. Maybe for now we can't fix it?♂️ 1
FoxbatRU Posted January 21, 2023 Author Posted January 21, 2023 БЖСЭ - there was such a saying in the old IL-2, meaning "We will live with this."
