1CGS LukeFF Posted November 27, 2023 1CGS Posted November 27, 2023 Our intrepid producer @Han spent some time this past weekend on the Wings of Liberty multiplayer server, where fun was had by all. Screenshots and video from the event below! Quote Today, as a volunteer, I spent 3 hours with my comrades in virtual combat missions on the Wings of Liberty server. This time we had serious group combat missions consisting of 6-7 aircraft. Of course, our simulator is beautiful! And yes, maintaining a tight formation works quite well as an effective means of defending attack aircraft and in virtual air combat. The screenshots show flights on Pe-2 dive bombers. We flew not only on Petlyakov’s planes, we also made several virtual combat missions on Il-2 attack aircraft. On Ila, we also flew in a dense group of 6-7 aircraft and completed our missions quite effectively. At the same time, we managed to brush off several attacks from enemy fighters. The “Hans” obviously didn’t expect such agility from “Ilyush,” but they didn’t have time to get too upset, because, under the fire of the Il-2 gun battery, they had only moments left before falling to the ground in the form of burning debris. PS But the hands remember. Once upon a time, I was the deputy commander of the Virtual Pilot Training Center, and there I received a unique training in flying in close formation of aircraft. Back then, in our youth, we flew modern (at that time) jet fighters, and due to the high speeds, they were very strict in formation piloting. Honestly, after this, it was a pleasure to keep a tight formation as a wingman on piston aircraft of the Great Patriotic War. The plane reacts to the movements of the control stick gently, maintaining the longitudinal interval by changing the engine boost is much more precise and responsive, there is no such huge “engine inertia” as on a jet aircraft. The plane literally “hangs” on the control levers, clearly responding to all actions. Just a blast! For those interested - link to the stream: 1 1
