Trooper117 Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 My beloved Triumph Bobber has gone... she served me well for five years, but now I have a new love. The 2016 Softail Slim S, with the 110 engine. 12 4
BMA_FlyingShark Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 WOW, congrats with that new bike. Have a nice day.
Drum Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 Sweet indeed! Bet your neighbors aren't happy about that though. ;-) 2
Gambit21 Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 Umm...OK. That's beautiful. I've never been into these kinds of bikes (rode a dirtbike for many years) but I've always enjoyed looking at them from the pure art/design standpoint. Which is why I used to watch those chopper shows. That is without a doubt, one of the nicest, if not the nicest bike I've ever seen. Great job. Put her in a display case. ?
Legioneod Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 Very nice bike. I just started riding, I wanted an Indian or Harley but they were a bit too expensive for me to start with. I got a Honda shadow instead. Harley and Indian are on my list. Im really looking for a Springer.
ST_Catchov Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 First the Queen and now the Triumph. It's too much ...
DD_Arthur Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 Nice one Trooper ? Over the weekend I made the mistake of havin’ a go on my neighbours 800cc Monster. Want one…..? 1
Trooper117 Posted September 14, 2022 Author Posted September 14, 2022 Thanks for the replies chaps... Ever since that 2016 Softail Slim S came out I knew eventually I would get one. It's taken some time to save the money, plus in 2022, the Slim S is getting increasingly harder to come by (in the UK), as they stopped making them with the 110 engine after 2017... They were only made in two colours, olive gold denim with the military look, and completely blacked out in vivid black. I was lucky in picking this one up about 3 weeks ago, as the previous owner had already improved the bike to stage 1, (new Vance and Hines Radius exhaust, new screaming eagle heavy breather air filter plus engine map). Also they had changed the stock seat for the Mustang variant, plus added the front screen and the extra LED headlights and crash bars... these were all things I would have done to the bike myself, so that has saved me a ton of money. The 1800cc engine of the 110 has as much torque as anyone would ever need, especially in the lower gear range, plus it has twice the range of my old Triumph, lol! I was worried about dealing with its 712 lbs weight, but was amazed at how light and responsive the bike is as soon as it starts to move... all in all, I'm more than pleased!

Well I guess you better get your motor runnin', head out on the highway Troops .... but stick to the speed limit, don't drink and ride, obey the road rules, wear a helmet and sensible shoes and don't smoke or otherwise imbibe in illicit substances like these dudes did. Now go for it .... 1
BOO Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 In the interest of good neighbourly relations probably best not to keep it ticking over too long on the drive either with those pipes. My Neighbours would string up piano wire across the street if I turned op with one of those.
Trooper117 Posted September 15, 2022 Author Posted September 15, 2022 Strangely enough BOO, I've had people in the village stop and come to look at the bike when I have it out front, and so far all have said how great it looks and they love the powerful sound that it churns out. I am careful not to rev the arse out of it though around the village... Harley's are nothing new here though. There are three more dotted around the village that I know about... a V-Rod, a Street Glide and a Street Bob, so the locals are used to hearing them about. Oh, and the village has three pubs close by and bikers tend to come through on a regular basis so I think I'm relatively safe for now!
Trooper117 Posted October 6, 2022 Author Posted October 6, 2022 A little update... I've changed the black seat for a mustang vintage brown one. 4 1
Wardog5711 Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 That is a sweet looking ride. And I love the paintjob.?
Hoots Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 Nice, I bet your neighbours hate you… @DD_Arthur monsters are lovely looking things but a speed triple will be my next one. Eventually. Once my body has recovered from riding a gsxr600 for too long…

Six years ago - in a bout of male-menopausal madness - I bought this: A motorcycle that excelled in every area, as long as you were travelling at over ninety miles per hour. Anything less led to the swift onset of sciatica and carpel tunnel syndrome. Any journey over two hours meant arriving at your destination as Marty Feldman in Young Frankenstien. I kept it for the summer and then sold it to someone younger....and madder, than me Edited October 10, 2022 by DD_Arthur 3
Denum Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 (edited) I'm not much of cruiser guy as I end up in places that leave me questioning my sanity. But that's a super nice bike @Trooper117 Just a modest DL650. Has enough jam to get me in trouble. But not so much I'll leave a 2km long red smear. Hoping to one day upgrade to the Tiger 900 or BMW850GSA but the lack of electronics and nearly apocalypse level reliability is hard to give up. Throwing some suspension from Cogent Dynamics on next spring. Edited October 10, 2022 by Denum 2

Trooper117 Posted October 10, 2022 Author Posted October 10, 2022 Thanks for the replies chaps ? I've been riding bikes since I was 17, never been without one... I'll keep riding one until I can't because of old age or injury. My next door neighbour is 76 and he's got three bikes and still out riding, so I hope I can still be doing what he's doing in 10 years time! 1
