How to see pilot level in Pilot Selection screen?

Firsstly, lovin' the work on PWCG - it is the go-to way of playing IL2 for me.

Secondly, apologies if this has been brought up before, but the forum search engine isn't the most user friendly:

I have found that, when selecting pillots during the mission formulation process that you can't see what level they are (e.g. Novice, Competent, Veteran or Ace).

It's not always easy to remember who's any good, esp. when the churn is so high (which it always seems to be for me, even with "Save AI from itself" selected in Advanced Config. ?).

Would it be feasible to add a column in the Pilot Selection screen with the pilot level indicated and/or their resepctive missions and kills?  I like to take novices up and avoid combat so that they build up their missions, which IIRC is what levels them up, isn't it?  It's also good to know sometimes that your flight is fully loaded with vetreans and aces (not that I ever seem to have any for very long in my squadrons, which probably tells me a lot about my leadership skills).

Thirdly, in the awards and citations portrait (nice touch btw), any chance of a tooltip for what the gongs, rank insignia, etc. are when you hover the mouse over them? Pretty please...

Hi.  Sounds like some reasonable suggestions.  IIRC, the pilots level is based on the number of kills awarded.  So once they get to 5 they will be an ace regardless of missions, rank etc.  You can check their level on the individual log page.  Currently though, your right, I dont think it's possible to see kills, num missions etc when you get into the mission and pilot selection sequence.  I do like that on the main pilot roster page the "level" isn't mentioned, e.g ace etc as it seems less gamey.  Just seeing the kills and missions NUM would be good though.

I'm just thinking now it might be fun to have my own chalkboard to write this all down manually, but I fear my duster would be in constant use :(

P.s the call signs for squadrons are consistent throughout campaigns, so it can be worth having a note of that too. E.g Pelican is Luftwaffe transport at Stalingrad etc.

@Russkly Skill level is in the pilot log book.  On the chalk board it's not hard to guess - the guys with the lowest rank and least kills.  That's what I go by when I rearrange pilot assignments.

@PatrickAWlson Thanks, Pat.

What I'm referring to is the screen (attached) where you select the pilots for a mission during the mission generation process.

It would be useful to be able to see at least the chalk board info on this screen too, so that one can select pilots based on their experience/skill.

Since one can't actually get back to the chalk board from the mission selection process without scrubbing the mission and starting again, it means one has to rely on remembering the different pilots and their level from the chalk board and/or the Pilot's Log book, and this I find tricky. I could write it down of course, but that seems a little archaic.

Any chance of adding columns with missions and kills to this piilot selection screen?

Not a huge deal, but it would be helpful.
