I really enjoyed a Me410 night sortie with take off in the dawn and arrive the enemy airfield in the dark.

Yes, that was one thing I made sure to do for all career mode phases: setting the earliest takeoff time for night missions to be 30 minutes prior to sunset. It does make for some nice visuals. ?

I like it but my first Career mission supporting a group of Typhoons , their target was off the map and I couldn't get there.

Do you have the mission file? It's in /data/missions and is called _gen.mission.

If you are satisfied with the 602nd, which will replace one of the existing squadrons in the game (where it is based in the game), then it is quite simple to make a mod.

Really interested to hear from the Devs why hedgerows were not included.

Here is a quiz for you, pick wisely:

a) Devs hate hedges, Han fell on one when he was a kid and got badly scratched. As a grown up man, he formed an anti-hedge party that almost won the local elections.

b) The Calvados Department has invested a large sum in trimming the landscape of Normandy as bushes and hedges are "so 70's" (sic).

c) Adding new tech and assets to include hedges was beyond the scope of this already ambitious project.

d) C-47s delivering the hedges got confused in the night and dropped them in the wrong landing zone.

e) They had the hedges ready, but decided to remove them to gain engagement in the forums

Check your "Map scenary distance" setting.  Probably you were outside the area where ground objects were generated in the mission. Cliffs are objects and not part of the map terrain, so I guess they are treated like buildings by the "Map scenary distance" setting.

Thank you Jury_JS,
But in this case it's not about adjustments, but rather a bad choice of textures, or the deliberate non-use of cliff objects !

It would be enough for the developers to use the "cliff of dover" objects on the French coast in this place !

The geology is also identical on both sides of the Channel in these places !...
No problem viewing the cliffs of Dover from France and closer, but however the cliffs of "Blanc-Nez" are desperately green ! :

I agree, looks like cliffs are missing at Cap Blanc-Nez. I will mention this in beta testing forum.

Cliffs are made of several unique types of objects for paricular locations, so they have to match the place more or less. But I'll ask the guys if there's something we can do, don't worry.

Thank you for your concern!

I really enjoy the variety of new cliffs.

I was a bit surprised that the line from Dover's Harbour Station to Folkstone is completely missing though... that is one part of Dover's cliffs which is kind-of impressive. Also, it'd be really interesting to strafe trains that close to the cliffs... especially as they run at the base of the cliffs.

Is there an official thread for this? Reporting minor discrepancies?

I could only find Normandy D-Day and Normandy Summer....where do you find the UK?

Same map. I scrolled in close and pulled back on the quick mission screen until in centered on England. I know there's a way to move scroll around the map icons but I still can't find the proper key in settings.

edit: How and why it’s working I don’t know but if I hold down the scroll button on my mouse, I can move the map around now.

No, sir.  Just create a topic. You can place it in Developer Assistance/Suggestions.

Thanks for the release but there is a major problem with the Mission Editor now.  You can no longer link objects or targets in different groups which is a major problem.

It works in my non updated old copy but not in the new version.  I tried restarting and using blank mission templates with the same result.

Anyone other Mission Builders having this issue?

Confimed and reported.

Thanks for the report.

https://youtu.be/pIO51w1Yl9I Doesn't look like it.

V-1 can be flip over now. But - it will be necessary to improve the autopilot model of the rocket - now, with a sufficient altitude, with some probability, it can bring the rocket back on course from those positions from which it should not. This will be corrected.

Hi guys,

any idea why it doesn't show the normandy map in game (or any collector plane) even though I bough these back in 2019 and it has actually updated the game to 5.001? It even shows the BoN badge here in the forums yet there are neither new planes nor the map.

Thanks in advance.

Are you playing on Steam? do you have your Steam account linked to your IL2 account? this will be required before it shows ingame.

Am I not right?

Even has two shrubberies (English hedge-rows, and the ever so slightly different French Bocage).

I just felt I had to point this out for some reason.

So, has anyone found the humble oast house yet in game? They should be super prevalent in Kent and Sussex and are a fair defining point of that part of England.

@Irishratticus72, If you watch the video I posted on the first page, you will see it can be tipped and it will lose altitude. They currently recover from the dive and don't crash, but we are being assured that will be addressed in the near future.

For now, you can amuse yourself with just trying to get them to tip over. Hint after hours of practice.... you have to get your wing under it and roll quickly away. If you just pull up, it will only lift the V-1 and not really do anything like in the video linked in the quote here. You have to flip it with a bit of gusto to actually tip it over more than 30 degrees or so.

HI

My first mission with 331 Squadron from Bognor started with no units, the ission just starts with the player in a spectate mode and nothing on the tac map once you load in. The mission was generated on the Headquaters page though.

mis file attached.

@PatrickAWlson will be working on PWCG for BoN and if you dabble in PWCG, it might be worthwhile to post over in the PWCG thread see if he would consider adding the 602 when he is assigning squadrons.

Was wondering what happens on D-day in terms of how the invasion is represented etc. Has anyone seen anything?

I started a campaign and selected the 2nd stage, which starts June 6th.  However, since your first day is "orientation" you actually only start to fly on June 7th lol.  I thought this was a bit odd.  Surely makes sense to start this section of the career a day earlier so you can actually fly on the 6th. :)

I pointed this out in testing, but unfortunately once it was out to us it was too late to tweak that in time for release. Even in the subsequent days, if flying beachhead attacks you should be encountering landing craft shuttling people and tanks ashore, and destroyers providing naval gunfire.  After a few days, the mulberry gets established, and it is actually rather imposing.

Aircraft DM: RHA equivalent of the aircraft skin has been reduced nearly three times to the previous (wrong) values.  Does  this mean they changed the values to what they consider to wrong values?   Or the previous values were 3x times too high??

Having an issue in the Mission screen.    I go to the D-Day map, and pick and airfield/roundel.     It won't allow me to choose ANY aircraft.     And when I press start, nothing happens.  As well, the exit button doesn't work either.

Please help... Thanks in advance.
