Currently working on a DF mission with a flight of 4 B26s that I intend to have level bomb an industrial target and some nearby bridges too.

My Attack Area MCU is set at an 800 meter radius around the center of the area, I have "attack ground targets" selected and priority is set to low.  I have tried it at medium and high as well.  I have a waypoint 20 odd km from the "attack" MCU.  The B26s are flying at 3000 meters, and I have their cruise speed set to 430kph (266mph) which wiki tells me is their real world cruise speed.  I have a couple waypoints set for the return flight that are placed some distance from the attack area position.

The bombers will dutifully fly right over the target to the egress waypoints and then head for home without dropping on the target.

What have I done wrong?

Have you tried "attack ground" ?

And naturally you've triple checked the attack command is object linked back.. and checked altitude settings..

I'd set priority to med or high.

How are you triggering your first egress waypoint? We would probably need to see the actual mission to check all the details.

For level bombing the AI is circling around before dropping bombs now if you set the Command:AttackArea MCU to Attack Ground Target. I have been using Attack Ground and it works on the first pass.

Well after a deep dive into everything I discovered that the B26s had no bombs in their loadout, only the .50 Browning package guns.  However, after changing their loadout to max bomb load, they spawn at mission start as they should, but just circle and do not follow their way points.  I have double checked altitudes, speed and object links, all seem to be OK.  Two steps forward, one back...

I am a big fan of not recreating the wheel. @DD_Friar or someone else has already does this correctly with combat boxes and all. I recommend you fid it and copy the logic used. There is too much wrong with your mission to fix.

Just check that you have activated/triggered the first waypoint after spawning the units. Very often the error is that an MCU needs to be triggered to have effect. It can be correctly linked and everything but if you do not trigger it with a target link/event link coming from a Timer or another MCU or an event it will just not start.
