Moderators CLOD AWC Posted April 25, 2022 Moderators CLOD Posted April 25, 2022 (edited) Hello I'm hoping someone is willing to make this skin of George Preddy on Christmas Day 1944 (you might be interested @Raptorattacker). I'm planning on making a video on his final flight and you will receive credit for the work. Soto Spoiler Edited April 25, 2022 by Lemsip 2 1

BMA_FlyingShark Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 There's several versions of this skin already. The late Tom Weiss among others made 2 versions (clean and weathered). Have a nice day.

Here are the replies: " Yes, we have photos to verify all those markings including the barber pole on the right side of the nose cowling. His crew chief was barber for the 328th FS. There are no known photos of this P-51 showing its complete final paint scheme. The markings depicted on your model are as described by George's crew chief Art "Snoots" Snyder. Known photos show the code letters immediately below the kill markings without the huge gap that you have. Also Snyder states that the name 'Cripes A' Mighty' was in white with small concentric yellow letters inside and all outlined in black. Joe Noah and Sam Sox described the markings fully in their book "George Preddy top Mustang ace" including the tabs, gun muzzles and exhaust tags (not all visible on the profile); as Peter says the codes reach up to the swastikas. They agree with Peter that there's no known photo of the whole aircraft. I had a lot of correspondence with the 352nd when I was doing Peter's pictures and one ground crew from the 328th (not Preddy's) sent me a drawing of the tail markings (maybe Bob Powell's ?). Snyder was fond of decorating the rudder balances and trim tabs (like white stars on red on 44-13553). In 2007, I published a booklet on Preddy's Mustangs with the able assistance of Sam Sox Jr. Complete with decals in 3 scales, the offering was released by Eagle Editions. The booklet covers each of his P-51's, to the extent possible at the time. Included in the booklet are photos of his Mustangs, with supporting color profiles by Tom Tullis and appropriate blue color chips. A map was also provided detailing the action surrounding his final, fateful flight. As pointed out here, there are no known photos of his final Cripes A Mighty capturing the entire aircraft in a single image. However, I did supply all that was available (4) revealing some elusive details. There are also comparisons drawn to Chub A Luk, another Mustang with similar markings maintained by Art Snyder." ------------------ Anyway, here are actual pictures of his aircraft: https://wingstracksguns.com/p-51d-mustang-cripes-a-mighty-maj-george-preddy/ Then follow this link, go to Page 6 and view the bottom of the page. Preddy is pictured with his aircraft and markings in the two images , one up from the last image. http://www.littlefriends.co.uk/352nd-fighter-group/ 1
jollyjack Posted April 27, 2022 Posted April 27, 2022 (edited) this is what i get, also on various NordVPN servers. : Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection to forum.12oclockhigh.net. Peer’s certificate has an invalid signature. Error code: SEC_ERROR_BAD_SIGNATURE The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified. Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem. Via another proxy server i saw the pictures; there were indeed more Cripes planes up in the sky it seems ... Guess i will need some more editing on this one ... barber pole; did not see it so far. Edited April 27, 2022 by jollyjack
jollyjack Posted April 27, 2022 Posted April 27, 2022 (edited) About finished, i'll put it on Haluter's. Added score markings, found the problems and reworked this alpha layer .. Edited April 30, 2022 by jollyjack
