Freycinet Posted April 15, 2022 Posted April 15, 2022 It is very heartening to me that doing youtube flight sim videos can actually lead to somewhere respectable in life. I'll have to tell my wife.... 1

I mean, you probably shouldn't, but you could. Congrats! bigger plane means bigger fuel tanks means BIGGER FIREBALLS on impact hey wait up, strange just saw an article on yahoo the other day about a pilot who faked his creds and was flying a 747 mega when he wasnt trained on it

firdimigdi Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 https://www.travelmarketreport.com/News/articles/Your-Next-American-Airlines-Flight-Could-Be-a-Bus-Ride Finally, the true reason behind @busdriver starting this thread.
DD_Arthur Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 So…is it the wonderful 737 or is it that other plane with the flight deck that reminds me of all those horrible cars made by British Leyland in the nineteen eighties??

The hideous rubber bumper MG cars were done, thankfully, after 1980.
ST_Catchov Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 Harsh. If it don't leak oil it ain't a car innit. 1
BlitzPig_EL Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 Being a life long British car owner in the colonies I have every right to call them like I see them... The MGB needed to be replaced by the early 70s, ditto the TR6 and E-Type. They were very long in the tooth. BLMC was a rudderless ship in a stormy sea of change. The British Racing Green TR3 with the alloy wheels has been my mount for 40+ years. 8 1

She's a magnificent motor vehicle Blitz and lovingly maintained by the looks. I've always been a sucker for British Racing Green. I must admit I'm a little jealous. You must get all the chicks! I reckon even Req wouldn't mind a bit of that after a long flight. Your Triumph I mean .... 1
busdriver Posted August 24, 2022 Author Posted August 24, 2022 Okay here it is 24 August 2022 and our hero @Requiem has completed his first flight as a First Officer at American Airlines. Flt 1239 BOS-ORD. He's about to board Flt 1165 for his first layover at a major airline...to AUS (Austin Texas). That's a pretty great layover to start career at major. Well done mate! 14
DD_Arthur Posted August 24, 2022 Posted August 24, 2022 Thank you busdriver, that’s great news and quite an achievement too?. So right now they’re programming the fmc and trying to work out whether the stains on the seat covering are coffee or ketchup?
GenMarkof007 Posted August 24, 2022 Posted August 24, 2022 (edited) Congratulations @Requiem! I'm a bite late from the original post, but I want to wish you all the best in this new (RL) pilot adventure! And thank you for all the time you gave us with those great IL2 - FC and ROF tutorial videos (and even DCS). I'll try to book an American Airline flight..., thinking that you might be our pilot! Cheers mate and congrats again, GenMarkof Edited August 24, 2022 by GenMarkof007 1

Austin is a fun town. As a new pilot you don't want to take too much advantage of the night life, but if you're willing to drink club soda you can listen to some good music. Home of Stevie Ray Vaughn. 1

BMA_FlyingShark Posted August 24, 2022 Posted August 24, 2022 Congratulations Requiem. Have a nice day. 1

I'm still his friend, but I'm just disowned now. @busdriver has to tell his friends I fly the Airbus to avoid the shame I've brought on him and his wife by flying the 737. Both flights were great! My first landing in Austin was very smooth, but I'm told that on really nice landings the spoilers won't deploy...so there's a new goal. I'll have a hero shot in front of the plane at some point in this trip Cheers all! 18 3

If I can wear short sleeve in the middle of winter on walkarounds then it means I can wear long sleeve during summer! I wanted to look a bit more professional for my first round of flying with this under the blazer though ? 3 4

Avimimus Posted August 28, 2022 Posted August 28, 2022 Pretty cool (Although I'm not sure I'd trust any of us to fly an aircraft IRL... but then I'm probably projecting my flying habits onto some much saner people here!) Anyway, cheers and S! 1

They would probably be thinking... great, there's a flight sim nerd flying us up front. Years ago I had someone comment on my YouTube channel (well before I learned to fly in RL) that they hope I never fly a real airplane because of a demo video I did in Rise of Flight. That's aged well in retrospect ? Without a fear of death you will get abnormal behaviour. We're all invincible 1G comfy chair fighter pilots in here (1GCCFP trademarked by Busdriver). As a CFI I would trust an aircraft to someone who has flown sims more readily than to someone with no experience, even if the sim pilot tried landing on a balloon or train ? 4
