Failed to update.

Failed to update.

Etc.

Etc.

Every time you push an update, I get repeated (3, 4 ... times, sometimes 5, 6, ... or more times) "Failed to update" messages, with the D/Load indication usually stuck at "0/s". (Would then your server(s) be saturated?)

How about a button such as : "DEFER THAT DAMN UPDATE UNTIL I CHOOSE EXACTLY WHEN I "CAN AFFORD/TOLERATE/GRUDGINGLY ACCEPT" TO WAIST A FEW HOURS WATCHING AN UPDATE SCREEN (glacially "updating" [!!!] until issuing a "Failed to update" message ... repeatedly).

Thank you anyways : I appreciate all the efforts you are directing at development, but I felt I should remind you how disruptive your update "process" can be.

I feel for you... but I don't think your update process is anything like anyone else's.

I've never heard of anyone having these problems. I'm updating with multiple other pilots on many multiplayer servers together.

It sounds like something is very wrong at your end.

I would suggest the IL2 devs modify the update servers to not be behind a .RU DNS.  Politics being what they are, il2bosrd1.cdnvideo.ru could go down or reappropriated any time.

There is a workaround. Grab the \updates folder from someone who has an updated non-Steam version and replace the same folder on your pc. Remove Current.snap. Run Launcher.exe (thanks to =TBAS=Sshadow for the info)

Would it be possible to upload that folder in zipped form?
What is current.snap?

You'll have to discuss the details with =TBAS=Sshadow ?

I don't want to host a zip of \updates before clearing it with the devs first.

With windows 11 I have the same problem and cannot find a solution?! I did reinstall , try to, after many crash of the game due to the last update....strange never happened before?!

If deleting your \updates folder doesn't work you can try this workaround:

Download a zip that contains the latest update using this link: https://mega.nz/file/iJNlhZxK#XSKelcQxLrJcugdOut-zI3tuwilLkzv5eYf3hNfWs80

Delete your \updates folder if it exists and extract the zip into the same folder.

Run launcher.exe and it should update you to the latest version.

This doesn't work for everyone so please ignore this post.

Having the same issue.

Game worked and ran mid March....but I didn't play as I've just moved to a new house and wanted to see that at least I could update the program.

Today I tried to start the program and got the "Failed to Update".  Followed the suggestions as noted above, including downloading the Updates folder link and installing that.  Program goes through installation process, but fails.

Never happened before.

Posted (edited)

The process I described worked for 2 other people, not sure why it's not working for anyone else.

The \updates folder should be on the same level as the \bin and \data folder

The \updates folder is in the location as indicated in your screenshot.

I uninstalled the program, reinstalled, same issue.  Will not update, nor start.  Very very strange.

Well since the workaround doesn't appear to work for everyone I'm going to remove the steps I listed. Hopefully 1C can resolve this.

This appears to be the issue.

It needs a file that it cannot download.

To me it looks like it needs to be fixed server side.

Correct, the workaround attempts to fix that. It looks like the updates are downloaded from a server in Russia, and it isn't currently working.

I`m living in Spain, same issue, finally I delete the game and download a new installer but it’s not working, files download not even start

For me, this morning, it worked again. I was able to download the update and startup the sim.

Must have been a server issue.
Just wait a bit and try again I guess.......

Good luck to you all.

Hello guys from Grand Canary Islands (Spain).

For me this afternoon clicked on the Launcher and it showed on the red bottom bar "checking files" for such a long time, then uptaded itself adding some files for another big while and finally reseted (languaje, etc) and red bar finally showed "play".

Launched the sim and went ok having to put again e-mail & password to enter.

Have 4.703c version and seems to run ok. Same for you? @ataquerojo @=1NAS=MrEverything @AlexandreB @haluter @F-K @DD_FT-

Thanks to Dev´s if they reseted or fixed that Server issue. Happy flying. Best wishes from the sunny islands!

4.703c, confirmed!

And it not only seems to run ok, it does run just fine!
