Dear Friends,

We have reached another milestone in the project development and are proud to present to you our newest update 4.703, which contains a lot of awesome, new stuff.

First of all, there is a new heavy fighter in the sim – the Ju 88 C-6!

........................

The second and third big additions to this update is some 'heavy lumber’ from the Great War – the Handley Page O/400 and Gotha G.V for Flying Circus Vol. II.

........................

The third big addition in the update is a new historical campaign called 'His Majesty’s Griffons' by Alexander 'BlackSix' Timoshkov.

........................

The final big piece to this important update is the new and improved rendering technology of our Sky-dome.

........................

In addition to the changes highlighted above there are many other ones listed below. And please note that due to an old bug we fixed with VR, we were required to update the track format. So, tracks recorded in previous versions of the sim won't be playable. We apologize for that as always, but it is unavoidable.

Most likely. Always make a backup of course.

From what I remember, I rarely got that far. Most missions seemed to end in a hasty semi-controlled plummet towards the safe side of the frontline...

All good stuff. APPRECIATE all the hard work you guys put into this. Thanks!  Any update on the Sopwith Tripe?

Thank you for this long awaited update.

Honestly im very disappointed with the new vehicle fire effects.  No exploding ammunition, no fire from the hatches. Just slightly bigger fire. Pfff

Its the only change/improvement for the TC.

Anyway thanks for the changes/improvements for the BOX.

Yes new sky and planes...especially I have been waiting that Ju 88.  Sadly I have not been in the mood for playing war simulations, but maybe these new toys are helping to get me back    :joy:

Thanks for the update team!

@Jason_Williams Thank you for this update. Will really look forward to flying the Ju-88C-6 as well as the "His Majesty's Griffons" campaign, and checking out the new sky when I get the chance.

Are you guys looking into making crash landings in the game much less fatal than they are right now?

Wow! I'm looking forward to trying the FC bombs (I'm hoping they fixed the fusing for low altitude use of contact fuses)!

I wonder if there are plans to include some of the BoN ground units in the BoBP QMB?

Excited for this to finish downloading!

I like the sound of the "Traffic Interdiction" mission type. Any details on what that will entail?

Guys,

Can anybody enlighten me with what this means exactly:

30. The ability to set an offset position of the engine control axes relative to the "common" axis in the "All Engines Selected" mode on multi-engine aircraft ("thrust difference") when the control helpers are on is possible again; ?

Thanks in advance.

Have a nice day.

Mmmm... Going to have to experiment in the QMB with this Ju88 for some time methinks.  Thanks for another fantastic update!

As always, I appreciate the addition of new planes and tanks to the sim and always will... but at this point in the life of the sim it is these continuing changes to the environment and world that we fly and drive in that really hit home for me. I am so glad that you continue to focus on both in a meaningful way. Thanks.

Thx for the update but after few minutes of flying I'm a little confused. Did you see the stars? Have anyone tested it? They are way to big on the sky. Looks very unnatural. Banding effect on the clouds is same as previous. Flying through the clouds at nigh is experience similar to the flight after LSD :)  So many strange shapes evolving...  Maybe sky has a little less banding during day, but that wasn't the problem really.

Another thing - tracer - still visible form far distance. This shouldn't be addressed?

Didn't check nav light but I'm scared to do this ;)

Another thing - I was flying Finish serv. during the winter. In daylight everything at the direction of the sun was totally white. Tried gamma settings from 0.9 to 0.5 but nothing. Oversaturated. Didn't try to turn HDR on but before didn't use it and was everything great.

EDIT Ok, after more testing I can see that you have changed sun effect. Again I'm not sure is it better than previous. Now it is much more difficult to see something at the sun, but it is not so natural - the shape of the light. Great you remove sun lens effect from cockpit.

12. A new mission type, Traffic interdiction, has been added for German squadrons that flew the Bf 109 E-7, Fw 190 A-5, Fw 190 A-8, Hs 129 B-2, Bf 110 E-2/G-2, and Ju 88 C-6;

@Hancould you please also add the mission type, in which the player flight attacks an assaulting tank company? It already exists, you guys created it back then for the old campaign system, but it unfortunately didn't make it into the career mode. It is in the Advanced Mission Generator. So it shouldn't be too time intensive to fit it into the career mode as well. With the current attacks on the Frontline and a Stronghold there are only static frontline targets so far.

Another incredible step forward for what is, in my opinion, the best game/sim available anywhere. No other updates for other titles get me as excited as updates for IL-2 GB. My only complaint is that they never seem to download fast enough!

I assume it means that on multiengine aircraft you can set engine 1 to 75%, engine 2 to 50% and then whn you return to "all engines selected" you can set throttle and the two engines will maintain their 25% difference.

I could be wrong, but I know in twin engine planes you can adjust the throttle for both engines. When you choose all engines apparently it was evening it out, rather than keeping the difference. It sounds like a feature on a setting easier than expert.

It's a search for road and rail traffic behind the front lines.

Awesome! So sort of like an air-to-ground free hunt mission. I like it!

Thanks for being so dedicated and hard-working!

Is there more specifics on the 109 roll rate changes?

Just curious. Always thought the 109s were really stiff at high speed, 400mph they really struggled to roll to my understanding?

Super excited for the new lighting and Ju88.

Can't wait to check all this out after work.

The effort that has gone into working the sky, clouds, lighting etc is really appreciated, it all comes together to make this sim such a joy to look at. This is really setting the bar very, very high and its just a pleasure to sit here right now and take in the atmosphere from the pics.

That screenshot from the cockpit of the Spitfire XIV at night time with the flare going off is just magic!

Some very cool aircraft and interesting changes to try out! thanks again to this very talented team for the hard work.
