VR BETA now available on STEAM for registered testers

Hi, I’ve just purchased CloD & Tobruk and I’d love to participate in the VR beta if applications are still open - I’m unable to DM due to me being new to the forums (hopefully if this post gets moderator-approved then that problem will be solved) but I have a proof of HMD ownership photo ready to go.

Like others above I'm late to the party, but I've been playing CloD and have a Rift S, so I'd like to ask if I still can join the VR beta as well.

Hi Buzzsaw, I also requested acces to the BETA version of Cliffs Of Dover /Desert Wings.

I have the new PICO 4 and this may also be interesting to check for full compatibility with the PICO 4.

I bought the game and DLC.

I'm still a bit traumatized by CoD, since I was one of those guys who bought the boxed version of the original on release (my very first YT videos deal with that version's issues, lol) and thus I haven't even installed the Blitz version. Would love to get back into those early war crates, but only if I can fly VR.

You don't know the slightest idea about our maintenance and and whether we update or not... and your insinuation is completely unfounded.

 

The forums went down because of actions taken by a server provider... i.e. update to the latest PHP version 8.0... which requires VBulletin 5.0.

 

TF got exactly 3 days notice the update was going to happen... and that notice was on a Friday afternoon in the middle of the holiday season.

 

We are not the only website to have continued to use an older version of VBulletin... in fact many other websites are faced with the same issue with incompatibility with the latest PHP version.

 

To the point that now that several special customized versions of VBulletin 4.25 which will work with PHP 8.0 that are now being offered for sale on the net... but those vendors do not guarantee their software will work bugfree.

 

Rather than buy a potentially buggy piece of software, we wrote our own version of VBulletin 4.25 which is compatible with PHP 8.0... which took some time.

 

We did that because we would have lost many of our website features if we simply upgraded to VBulletin 5.0... upgrading to that version is relatively simple... if that was the only question.

 

Our website and servers are carefully maintained and up to date in so far as that does not affect their useability.

 

Next time perhaps you should get some accurate information before you start to speculate.

After many attempts to reach him, I just got word from Buzzsaw that “ there is nothing to test “ currently. Apparently the call for new testers which dated from 2 months ago is now obsolete again. Could have spared me the purchase of Tobruk at that time, which I have no interest in as long as VR is not implemented yet.

I have been under the impression (from a recently posted screenshot) that trueSKY remains a WIP. IDK whether the latest Speedtree has been introduced into Blitz for testing. Would be helpful to learn Speedtree (9?) status. Thanks.

I bought Tobruk mainly to test the VR beta and I am still hopelessly waiting my access key. XD

I just bought the DLC today for the recently increased price of £40 with the main purpose being to get access to the VR beta. There was no announcement about the beta being closed, so it would seem a bit cruel to tell people they can't have access after they've essentially paid £40 for it. All the Tobruk stuff was essentially a perk for being able to use the beta, so if I can't use it, then I've basically spent £40 on something I didn't really want and still have to wait for the VR update to release

Because I'm only 16 years old and I used my Birthday money from 1 week ago. It's not really unjustified, I bought it so I could become a tester, and now it seems like I can't even thought there was nothing saying the option was now unavailable

Ok Drumcat. Let's give one more week to Buzzsaw. If he doesn't give you any response within one week, I'll refund you your DLC, ok? (this would mean that you'll lose it as I'd become the new owner). But let me tell you that this would be a pity because I'm sure that Blitz and Tobruk are worth playing even as they are, without implemented VR.

Are you sure? I dont imagine it would come to that, I only messaged Buzzsaw 8 hours ago so it's not because I havent received a reply yet, its seeing people saying that they aren't being allowed to become a tester even though they have purchased and now I'm worried because my money is in limbo

Two weeks then... and if Buzzsaw responds, and tells you that the registration period is over, I'll buy your "Desert Wings - Tobruk" add-on. But, again, think about it. The game presents advantages and disadvantages: if you like single-player only, this game is not really made for you. If you prefer multiplayer, then this is an excellent simulator for you.

 

One important question: did you purchase first the basic game, "Cliffs of Dover - Blitz"? Because you need to be a happy owner of "Cliffs of Dover - Blitz" if you want to install the add-on "Desert Wings - Tobruk". Did you know that?

I have had blitz for a few months now and I have over 40 hours. I'm quite happy doing either single or multiplayer, and the battle of britain is my favourite period of WW2. All I want is the opportunity to come home and pretend to be Micheal Caine for a few hours ?
