Hack skin - Sdkfz 10 as allied AAA half track

Hi gents

 

I am working on a fictional hack skin for the Sdkfz10 that shows it as an Allied AAA half track. Potentially, it will be used in squad coop missions.

 

I have a couple of queries that someone may be able to help with or direct me to somewhere:

 

1. Is it possible to dress the German crew as American?

 

2. I am having trouble locating the gun and gun deck in the Sd template. Do these areas exist or are they hardcoded as sand colour?

Not an M-15, but a pretty good shot at a “substitute”.  Good luck bringing this skin into the game.  I for one would add it to my groups…

The Soviets used a lot of captured German equipment. The Western Allies much less. Spare parts were difficult to get and the Allies had such a wealth of vehicles of their own that they didn't need German ones. However the BMW motorcycles, the various types of APCs were quite popular, the Kettenrad and and Kubelwagen were also favourites. The Allies had high regards for German small arms and MGs and the panzerfaust .

Getting there.....it's all green now, got rid of number plates and German technical plates too. Allows tactical codes.

 

Still working on the crew.

when you finish that one you think you could do  a German 11th Panzer Div in the traditional Dunkelgrau?  that would be cool

Where did you find the number plates? They're not even under my wife's bed-pan....

I was directed to a programme that unpacks the .gtp files in the games 'data' folder - this is where a lot of hidden vehicle texture .dds files are kept. I located the ones for the half track and isolated the ones for the gun, mounting, number plates and other bits. I was able to alter these files and, at the moment by means of a JSGME enabled mod I am able to show the areas I couldn't see before as painted green to match the rest. So, the chassis and bodywork is a skin and the gun, mounting and plates are visible via a mod. At the moment I can pack it all in a JSGME mod and get the vehicle all green so it isn't just a skin that does it.

Clever work and really curious now about your mod and the exact locations, also for the guns ground plate ...!
