ZachariasX Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 When playing on servers with "normal" difficulty or with "engine auto control" checked in the realism menu, the P-51B mixture lever is set to "Auto Rich" It should however ALWAYS be set on "Auto lean" as long as the engine is supposed to be running. This according to the British June 1944 version of the Mustang III PN, page 12 and 13: For some reason, there is a "auto rich" setting that gives a different engine output than "auto lean" (lower speed) and as I understand the manual, this should not be the case either.
Bert_Foster Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 Good pick up. Seems this was an evolutionary process with the RAF being the last variant by disabling the Auto rich setting completely. From the P51B PTM. 1
Bert_Foster Posted January 6, 2022 Posted January 6, 2022 (edited) a little bit of info on how this change in the removal the Auto Rich/Emergency Full rich control came to be. From a great book from the Roll's Royce Heritage trust . (There are a number of these books and they are fantastic) Edited January 6, 2022 by Bert_Foster 1
ZachariasX Posted January 6, 2022 Author Posted January 6, 2022 Thanks for that. Maybe @Gavrick might want have an eye on this?
1CGS =FB=VikS Posted January 12, 2022 1CGS Posted January 12, 2022 Pilot's Flight Operating Instructions for P-51, AN 01-60JD-1 (date of issue unknown - as title page cut) But same can be found in P-51D-5 pilot instructions of April 5th 1944 edition: and part of original drawing, which was used by 103 (C-1-5-10) and 104 (B-5-10-15) blocks accordingly by pars catalogue (as well as for D-5): PS: seems like text in the british version of manual states about a bit later variation - with stop plate for "full rich" - which we have on D-15 model right now. 1
ZachariasX Posted January 13, 2022 Author Posted January 13, 2022 Thank you @=FB=VikS! That's interesting to see. Lots of makeshift in these aircraft. And thanks again for the timely fixes on the latest patch!
