ShamrockOneFive Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 Hey folks! I'm putting together some content through November around mission and campaign generators. IL-2 has two, Pat Wilson's Campaign Generator and SYN_Vanders Easy Mission Generator. Both do different things and are actually very cool utilities. Not everyone checks them out (and I admittedly have not used them very much up until recently) but they are well worth a look. I'm kicking the series off with a Q&A with @PatrickAWlson himself. Check it out: https://stormbirds.blog/2021/11/12/community-qa-pat-wilson-creator-of-pwcg/ Coming later on down the line is a Q&A with @SYN_Vander about EMG and I've got some thoughts to share around using these for single and multiplayer mission generation. More to come! 16 3 5
Luftschiff Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 Excellent initiative - Pat and Vander have both made contributions of immeasurable value to this community and I'm very keen to hear more from them, and about them. I've used PWCG regularly since RoF days and Vander's for all my coop missions. I thank you both sincerely, and you Shamrock for your work - both in highlighting these pillars of the community, and just in general for running a damn fine blog on my favourite hobby. Top content, Cheers! 1 1 3

I couldn't agree more - three of my favorite gentlemen supporting our community and enhancing/promoting what Jason and the team have created. Another really nice work by Shamrock in putting both of these great additions in front of the entire Sim Community. -One thing to add about PWCG beyond the in-game Career (and @PatrickAWlson never says this himself), is that it adds what I would call a "Dynamic Squadron Simulator" into the IL2 GBs arsenal of ways to enjoy playing. The background simulation that is running in PWCG with every AI pilot having their own "life" creates a true squadron history and is something not seen in almost any game I can recall. The ability to transfer pilots, take leave, fly multiple pilots in different squadrons, track AI pilots' and Squadron history/logs, support wingmen to help them advance in skill level, control mission types, and importantly, to continue with the same same squadron mates with a new pilot adds a whole subgame dynamic into the mix (especially if you play Ironman). Plus, you have historical aces to contend/compete with and can choose to play through the end of the war in the east. It really is a brilliant creation with many layers - I find myself as a SP caring as much about my squadron as I do about the individual pilot when playing in PWCG. Trooper117 Posted November 13, 2021 Posted November 13, 2021 I've used Pat's campaign generator for ages, from RoF days to the present, it's a great piece of kit. Great Q&A there by the way. Looking forward to Vanders... used his generator for awhile as well, mainly for setting up quick missions for FC 1
JG4_Moltke1871 Posted November 13, 2021 Posted November 13, 2021 (edited) Just installed the PWCG and it seems excellent ? I have some questions as beginner in this space: install the Flying Circus Generator in the same place? How and where install the skin packages? BTW so far I am not familiar with install customised skins ??♂️ Are these Skins also available in the vanilla game? Edited November 13, 2021 by JG4_Moltke1871
