yea i was having the same issue but then i downloaded nvidia drivers and that seem to fix it, but not honestly sure if this was the cause.

You need to select the skin before loading into the hanger for it to work. If you change national skin in the hanger the mission is already generated and nationality is locked into the mission.

I tried a few times with a single aircraft as I would if testing a new introduction and nothing would appear so I tried setting a duel and in various tests there with and without mods on ( I use the authentic markings mod) various duels of different combinations were fine so I posted the question and Luke conformed it should work for all so I fired up again trying selecting a skin from the two different screens and was getting intermittent results.:crazy:

 

It does work as you say but you would think it would work anytime from any of the selecting screens, maybe it just needed to be used a time or two and imbed itself, who knows, anyway, happy that is sorted.:cool:

 

Curious to know just how it manages to select nationality from the skin choice, I can understand it working just with company supplied defaults but it also does with a few community skins I tried, amazing stuff.?

Does any one has micro stutters after last patch and also FPS drops sometimes? I had always in between 110-117 on every map. Now sometimes FPS drops below 80. On Finish virtual Pilots Server I had every second micro stutter, even with stable FPS.

 

My System

 

I7 8700 @ 5ghz

32GB @ 3800Mhz

RTX 3090

 

Il2 is installed on M2 SSD

Keep in mind as well that this feature only works with the stock skins.

36. AI fighter pilots shouldn't fire at a target if there is an allied aircraft in the line of fire;

In my testing last night, I'd like to report that I was fired upon by a friendly P-51 when on 6 OC of an AI Bf-109. Perhaps further tuning is needed. Though it happened only once, so no statistical value can be gained from that.

yeah thats funny, even DCS deliver more FPS on max settings than IL2 ?

Some very good fixes! However the transparency bug in the menu UI (when selecting sub-items) still persists as does the in-game map transparency (regarding the red circles of enemy positions).

Come on Thor............... shoulder shooting is common, surprised the AI is doing it now...........  almost like being in a DF server with teenagers... LOL

Truth be told, this was more like shoulder shooting. Before this patch it was straight up team killing. ?

I aaked Don Bryan (352nd) about shoulder shooting during one of my interviews with him years ago.

 

Basically he said “yep, it happened.”

Might result in a “Hey, why don’t you pull your head out of your ass?!” Or similar once back on the ground, and that would be the end of it.

 

Essentially the same factors that lead to shoulder shooting online existed in combat...more or less.

SOLVED! Clean reinstall of IL2 and drivers did not helped. So i set every settings in IL2 on LOW, started the game (problem was still same) after that is set it back everything to ULTRA and stutters were gone.. strange fix but it worked for me

Full dispersion diameter of 8 mils means that most of bullets will be in 3 mils diameter circle. 200m it's 0.6m. Pretty close to what we see on your video.

 

 

Thank you very much for checking. I didn't think it was a flaw/error as much as it was a problem of my own expectations.

 

I finally managed to get the AI to cooperate and give me a beautiful firing angle to show off the P-47's convergence the same way I demonstrated it with the P-51:

Funny thing is, I couldn't see the target when I fired. I put him under my nose, jerked the stick back a little to make sure I had enough lead, and down he went. It was only in replay that I saw how devastating the hits were.

Regarding the G suits being dropped from the Razorback P-47.

Although this version of the P-47 was designed and entered combat before the use of G suits it continued to fly combat through the end of the war with squadrons and groups having mixed bubble canopy and razorback Thunderbolts.  Shouldn't a G Suit for the Razorback be available after a certain date rather than summarily remove it completely?  The G Suit for the Razorback could be automatically included if the date of the mission falls after a particular date determined by the game developer or make it a mod that the mission maker can allow or lock similar to the 100 Octane or 150 Octane fuel that is available or bendix etc.?

The planes had to be fitted with additional equipment to allow the G suit to work. If that had to be done at the factory, then the razorback P-47s wouldn't have been capable of using a G suit system.

Having lunch 16 hours later and due to the internet going to crap here, I am not even halfway through downloading Game Client ???

At a current d/load speed of around 8kB/s, it is looking like another 24 hours at least.

Oh well.

Finally got a chance to play 

 

Superb. 

 

Almost feels like lighting got tweaked also. Sunrise mission was so pretty I was just cloud surfing.

Unfortunately on the Kuban Map I can see still the typical visual bug of the seal shoreline moving up a cliff after a certain distance.

Why don't we have key binding for the in-game map transparency like in ROF? Sometimes we need to change the percentage of transparency level in flight and now it is not possible.

Flew for few hours last night.  The tracers are now so miniscule and not bright that they are now useless for correcting my aim because I cannot see them.  Unless I zoom all the way in to 30 degrees FOV I can no longer see the tracers so they need to be either be larger or slightly brighter.

Yesterday I managed to get a little playtime. Before flying the next mission in the excellent Birds of Steel campaign I fought 2 QMB duels in a p51 against ace AI in a 109g6 and 190a8. Both duels ended after a short snapshot lit up the enemy plane. 
 

Of course 2 is a very very small sample yet I got the impression that thanks to the widened dispersion the M2‘s got better at causing fires - which would be a good thing. Can anyone confirm?

Secondly, with the visible crew will strafing a ship have any impact on that crew?  For example currently when ground based AA guns are strafed the crew temporarily leave the weapon which makes suppression strafing a viable tactic.  It would be nice to see similar effects possible for ships too.

That is one of those interesting things - strafing killed crew, lit fires (sometimes), and disrupted damage control efforts... but I've never been in a flight sim where strafing a larger ship felt like one was doing damage - there is always this dichotomy between 'alive' and 'dead'. At least one can take out some anti-aircraft guns sometimes in Il-2 BoX.

 

I do wonder if some kind of anti-aircraft suppression system for ships would work to give it more of a point? Simulate gun crews diving for cover if there are bullets bouncing along the deck nearby?

I noticed something similar.  Don't know if it's due to changes with Steamvr or the sim itself, but I like it.

Wouldn't that disable Shadowplay for instance? I use it for recording on the fly videos and interesting events in MP.

Okay calling it now

 

 

 

Best patch so far.

 

The new G model is fantastic. Mustangs are scary. 

Typhoon feels wonderful. 

 

I could go on and on. But love it.
