FYI the bf109G6 folder has other aircraft folders within it. Both versions of 3.2

Ju-88 A4 has wrong nominal RPM. The note says 2350 RPM, instead of 2250 .

Do not use the "technochat" version. The "official" is having the "good" numbers. The technochat is having numbers I noticed using some plane in game. Sometime the numbers are higher than the ones in the manual.

@C6_lefuneste Hi. I am flying with Sopwith Camel, and note says that max RPM is 1550, but I think it is 1400. At 1500-1550 rpm, engine is damaged after several minutes.

Hmmm... 1550 max RPM for the Camel was what is listed in the ROF manual, and I’ve been assuming the same numbers for the FC birds that also existed in ROF. I admit I rarely fly the FC aircraft, so perhaps my assumption is incorrect.

After some time reading and doing tests, here are some notes about Sopwith Camel and max RPM, and any other plane with Clerget 9B engine, and probably any other rotary engine:

- Safe max RPM for Clerget 9B is 1400. A higher RPM can be gotten only when diving.

- Clerget 9B can go up to 1550 RPM if engine is well lubricated. Engine oil is introduced in the carter together the fuel-air mixture, in the same way an actual 2-stroke common piston engine works. Since 1550 RPM is only possible when diving, to keep a good oil flow, there are two methods:

  - Keeping throttle to max and using "blip" switch to cut ignition: This will reduce power keeping a high flow of oil and air-fuel mixture.

  - Reducing throttle as needed to keep RPM under 1550, but using a very rich mixture to keep a high flow of oil. This means that mixture must be increased when throttle is decreased. Noted that both levers are together, and works in opposite ways, then, when throttle lever go back to decrease power, mixture lever go back too to be richer. Decreasing power using throttle with a lean mixture will cause an engine fail if RPM are higher than 1400.

Both methods are valid, however, using "blip" switch is not recommended. By 1918 a Clerget handbook advised maintaining all necessary control by using the fuel and air controls, and starting and stopping the engine by turning the fuel on and off. Pilots were advised to not use an ignition cut out switch, as it would eventually damage the engine. (Nahum, Andrew (1999). The Rotary Aero Engine. NMSI Trading Ltd. pages: 44-45; ISBN 1-900747-12-X). Other disadvantage of using "blip" switch is the intermittent rotating force caused by the engine.
