Hi Alpen.

The news is that, when I was carrying out the last test of the 26 missions assembled in a campaign, I discovered some slight inconvenience related to the achievement of the mission objectives. So, since I like to think that my product is as clear and usable as possible without problems, I am making small changes. Furthermore, I will not be available in the next week, so I expect the release to take place certainly before the end of the month.
Thanks for your comprehension and greetings, Stebas.
In the meantime, also to keep the curiosity alive, I propose the list of the 26 missions, with the name, the aircraft and the pilot / player.

I'm so sorry friends, but I have a problem that I can't solve!

As I told you, I noticed the presence of an imperfection in the phase of reaching the primary objective (land) of each of the 26 missions. I managed to find the remedy, but as I edit and test each mission, saving it to another folder, when I get to upload it to IL-2 Sturmovik, her name has disappeared from the list.

It is an unfortunate inconvenience that has happened to me other times, but now it prevents me from moving forward.

I opened a special thread called "IL-2 Sturmovik does'nt find mission file" in the Mission making and Mission Editor section, but for now no resolutive answers. I simply want to modify a mission and save it, with the same name, on another directory than the original ... it seems to me a very modest claim ... but ...

My Kalach pocket campaign to which I have been dedicating myself since before the arrival of COVID (!?) is practically ready, but I can not perfect this last little detail !

Please, Devs, help me...

It seems to me that I have finally solved the problem of recognizing the landing in the Home Base, thanks to the suggestions of Tx_Tip and Jim Tim.

I am trying to turn my attention to the skins, to which I am generally less attentive (and for this I apologize ...).

I would like to insert some paintschemes, at least for player-pilots, but I find myself in difficulty, among the hundreds of excellent jobs done by painters, to find what I'm looking for. For instance. Wanting to find (if it exists) the skin for Georges Michalek's Bf-109 F4 or the Maj Hozzel's Ju-87 (Jul 42 or summer 42 ..), what kind of research should I do? Where and how?

We know, and I have experienced, that the search function in this forum has a lot of problem...

PS. Another question.

When I assign a skin to a plane in the Mission Editor, through the advanced properties, how can I see the appearance of this skin, without having to exit the editor, test the mission and realize, after losing all this time, that it is not what I was looking for?

Thank you.

Ah, the Viewer... it's the first time I've heard it ... good news, thank you Juri.

And for a quick search for the skin of some pilot, battle-scenario or particular unit, do you have any ideas ?

Finding a particular paint schemes in the forums is a pain.

You could try Haluter's skin downloader instead. I've never used it myself, but apparently it makes searching much easier:

Thanks Juri. Actually I had already downloaded this utility, but I haven't tried it yet. Now is the time to do it ...

EDITED. Unfortunately, for the moment, I am unable to reap any benefit from HSD. My problem is to search the web for the skins available for a particular plane / pilot / squadron ... I don't know if this utility is able to do it and in any case the lack of a user manual doesn't help ...

I noticed something I wasn't expecting.

During the last test of the Kalach pocket campaign, I see the campaign icon appear with a lock, as if it were an unavailable campaign, but in reality, I can play it ... Do you have any idea why there is this apparent contradiction?

(Note that in the Info of the Campaign, I declared it "Free = 1")

I attach the screeshot...

Thank you FoxbatRU, due to your availability... but I do not find historical images of the planes flown by these characters ...

But, beyond these two names, mine was a problem of method on how to search for the skins of particular aircraft / pilots / squadrons. The skin section of this forum, I'm sorry, but it's really chaotic, in the sense that the comments are mixed with any downloads of the skinners' work ... there is no organized list of available skins ...

Something good exists on Mission4today, but quite limited in quantity.

As a big fan of scenario campaigns, I will say that the most important thing is to make skins for the group in which the player is flying, the rest can usually be viewed only in screenshots and replays, and there you can get by with the default ones. IMHO

Yes, I agree with you. Having the correct skins of the squadron in which the player flies can certainly be a very good thing.

Very nice this image of George Michalek from the old IL-2 Sturmovik 46. I don't know, but if it refers to a skin suitable for Kalach Pocket jul-aug 1942 and in any case I don't think the file can be used with IL-2 Sturmovik BoS.

Or yes?

Prego.

No, this file can't be used in new simulator. Posted here just to get a visual idea. However it is not perfect.
Better reference of the right side of Michalek's F-4, is profile made by Claes Sundin (posted above).

Un saluto.

If it was painted like that, then you can ask those who painted JG3. They should have had sources that are easy to use.

I once redrawn JG3 for myself. Stab I./JG3, F-4/trop WNr.10048, Hptm. Georg Michalek.

But since the basis is someone else's (and I do not remember whose ?), then I did not post links. To temporarily fine-tune the campaign, you can use my version.

Thank you Foxbat.

I noticed that your skin is 21.846 Kb, while the others are 5.462 kb.

Is 4k instead of 2k or what ?

The skin used in my version of IL-2 are all 5.462 Kb.

Can I use yours anyway ?

EDITED: Yes, I have tried the skin in the mission and it's very fine... Thank

If you still need it, there is such a rather old 2k skinpack for StG2.

I myself only made one skin in 4k.

We are approaching to start campaign.... for the moment you can read this...

From the "Kalach book", attached to the campaign pack:

AUTHOR'S NOTES AND GAME TIPS

- Although the difficulty level can be freely set, consider keeping both the HUD and the instrument panel turned on, because important communications (routes, targets, threats etc.) they will be provided to you via radio.

- Personally I recommend turning off the audio messages, as they are mostly useless and often boring and repetitive.

- You must know the territory and have experience in Visual Flight, because the missions are not equipped with aids on the map (waypoints, path, distances etc.).So the flight plan is at your discretion, always being aware of your position on the map.

- As a result of the above, you will have to know the orders to be given to your wingmen who, otherwise, will just follow you without know what to do. So formation, attack, cover, gunning, patrolling or returning to base will be some of your recurring orders. However, due to the limited numbers and the generic nature of the orders that the player can give to his wingmen, it will not always be easy to make sure that their action (especially in the ground-attack) is really effective.

- At the start of each mission, the player is immediately ready for action and soon radio messages with important operating instructions will appear.

- Colours of the messages: WHITE = service comunications / mission informations - BLUE = positive messages, such as achieving a goal - RED = Negative messages, such as goal or mission failure

- When the mission starts from the parking site, the player must taxi for take off to the indicated runway (arrow signal could be present to help taxiing). In this regard the player is advised to enter in the runway mantaining the right side, waiting for the wingmen alongside the last signal (single forward arrow) of a row of four, placed at the right edge of the runway. Once the formation is complete, proceed to take off at your will.

- Some mission offer the possibility to land at a Service field (indicated on the map), reach the maintenance area (identified by an active truck) and proceed with the Refuel, Rearm and Repair (RRR) operations, to then take off again and continue the mission.

- Primary and secondary tasks are normally indicated in the initial radio message, but they are always available for consultation in the mission briefing.

- Be aware that often - although landing is considered the primary objective of the mission - this is not enough to complete the mission itself, but you will have to reach the parking area (as secondary task or primary), that will be indicated as soon as you have landed.

- To facilitate the identification of the final parking or maintenance area, an active vehicle has been placed (which appears with a small blue square marker), of course it is necessary to enable the Instrumet panel, navigation and map markers option (defaul key "I") . Attention not to confuse the maintenance vehicle with other active units, normally anti-aircraft positions, which are not positioned in parking areas, but around the airport.

- In many missions, at the end of the briefing, you will find some information on the recommended flight parameters, in relation to the aircraft loadout and atmospheric conditions. Cruises are generally geared towards saving precious fuel, but, of course, you are not required to follow exactly these guidelines. These informations can be very important, as the player does not always fly the same plane, but changes each mission, so this sort of Quick Reference Guide is very useful.

- END MISSION. When the last objective has been reached (i.e. normally landing or parking) the message "End mission" appears on the screen and automatically produces the exit from the mission towards the summary screen. For a regular play, Don't manually abort the mission before it ends (even if this, when primary goal is achieved, can still allow progress to the next mission).

Stebas, I have been following this thread with great interest. Thanks for your hard work. Such a long campaign for free is amazing. If I may suggest, would it be possible to make an English manual version without the background for easy reading? My eyes aren't what they used to be nowadays.
Eager to start your missions.
Cheers.

Had to go in and correct the following for this Campaign to work.

1) The missions, .txt, info local=ENG, photos within the .zip were not placed into a folder.

Created a Folder within Campaigns Directory named "kalach pocket" so it looks like this:
C:\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\Campaigns\kalach pocket
Copied everything into this folder.

The .list file for the missions is: filename="campaigns/kalach pocket/01...
The .list file shows correct path for the missions to run. Must match.

2) The info.local=eng file name was originally named "Kalach pocket"

 // ----------------------------------------------------------------
// localized campaign name and description
// ----------------------------------------------------------------

   This I changed to:
&name="kalach pocket"

3) The info.txt file was incorrect with regards to the collector planes names.

   Should read:
&planes=luascripts/worldobjects/planes/mc202s8.txt,luascripts/worldobjects/planes/hs129b2.txt

This takes the locked symbol off of the Campaign GUI.

==================================

Just a heads up.
The Link for the Program Book also downloaded a complete and separate set of Campaign mission files.
There are .zips and PNGs within the 109F4 skins folders. Perhaps other skin folders as well.
Don't know if those skins are used within the Campaign but the PNGs are not needed within the skins folders.

You'll definitely need to go in and make those corrections within the file structure and create a new download for folks.

Hi Tx_Tip.

Thanks for your prompt intervention.

Being the first time that I have published a campaign, it was to imagine that something was not going right immediately in the syntax ...

So, regard to the suggestions you give me, I understand this:

2) Kalach's "K" must be "k". OK

3) the suffix ".txt" to "hs129b2" is missing. OK

It is more difficult to understand what you say in point 1).

I think I understand that everything concerning the campaign files and that I have put, all together as single files in the file "Kalach pocket.zip" must first be first inserted in the "kalach pocket" folder and then zipped. So when they are unzipped, they appear into the folder, so that the user doesn't need to create the folder himself ... OK

I don't understand well, but when you say that "The .list file for the missions is: filename =" campaigns / kalach pocket / 01 ... "

My files. list are "01 - Stuka escort.list", "02 - Target bridge.list", "03 - Area exploratory flight.list" and so on ... If I understand correctly, you say that there must be only the number and not the title. Simply like this: "01.list", 02.list "," 03.list "and so on ...? If so, I'll make these changes.

The strange thing, however, is that, on my PC, the campaign works like this, without problems and all the missions are proposed, in sequence, one after the other ...

Last question: only needs to be corrected the file name .list or also those .chs, .eng, .fra and so on ...?

Thank you...

EDITED: Or perhaps, re-reading better point 3) you intend to tell me, not so much to change the name of the .list file, but simply that the path was not correct because the folder had the "K" and not the "k" (i.e. case sensitive) ?

You are misunderstanding what the .list file does. Don't change anything.

It creates a pathway through the file structure to play the missions within the campaign.

This is the LIST File for your mission one:

filename="campaigns/kalach pocket/01 - stuka escort.chs","07ef1717"
filename="campaigns/kalach pocket/01 - stuka escort.eng","efcabe78"

Hi All, Just flown mission 5 " Top Secret Mission "   have been doing all the right things, taking off, staying low. landing at destination airfield, completing the pick up

and flying back and landing at my home base, only thing is I cannot find the right service truck to complete the mission, I land and taxi to the right to what looks like the

service truck parked near a half track but no message appears to say that the mission has been completed . so I shall have to do it all over again, but I must say that I

enjoy this type of mission. So can you help me Alfauo.

Hi Taffy !

When you land with your He-111 after the mission flight, you have this message:

"Seagull, you have landed ! Now bring the bird in the NW parking shelter, near the service truck"

The indication it is enough precise and allows you to reach the service truck which is parked exactly to the left of the point where you started the mission.

If you have read the introductory part of the "Kalach book", among other things, it is explained that:

"- Be aware that often - although landing is considered the primary objective of the mission - this is not enough to complete the mission itself, but you will have to reach the parking area (as secondary task or primary), that will be indicated as soon as you have landed.

- To facilitate the identification of the final parking or maintenance area, an active vehicle has been placed (which appears with a small blue square marker), of course it is necessary to enable the Instrumet panel, navigation and map markers option (defaul key "I") . Attention not to confuse the maintenance vehicle with other active units, normally anti-aircraft positions, which are not positioned in parking areas, but around the airport."

Normally you have to park the plane at a distance of about 50-60 m. from the vehicle, to trigger the final objective and the end mission.

In this mission, at the Moro W airfield, there are six active units: five are easily identified as AAA guns, being positioned around the field, the last is the truck that you are searching for...

You are welcome.

Stebas.

My suggestion is precisely to read the briefing carefully first and if the mission plans to conclude with the park in the same base, immediately before start look the airport with one of the external views, to identify and locate where is the parking area with the related vehicle.
