[Mod] Historically Accurate Skins 4K [Updated 8/30/25]

There are several skins that are now broken thanks to the latest update.  From what I can tell it effects the following planes:

 

Bf-109 E-7 / F-2 / F-4 / G-2 / G-4 
Bf-110 E-2 / G-2
Hs 129 B-2
He-111

 

It seems to impact the alternative skins mostly (aka winter, etc.) and the previews.

Me 262 too.

 

Skin_08 has become Blank_05.

 

There seems to be something screwy with the alpha on the modded 262 skins as well.

I can't get historically correct previews to show. I still have all German aircraft with the "fake"  marking in preview.

I think some of the "new name" skins have become locked? I tried to unGTP all the skin files and some of the folders only have the old texture names, not the new textures with names like bf109e7_blank_01.dds.

 

I looked at the skin files for all of the 5.002b career mode campaigns and here is a running list of all the Luftwaffe skins currently assigned in the careers. The (X) at the end means I could not find these in any "Skins" folder:

Most squadrons actually do not have assigned skins and they use the default skin. Also, if the game doesn't find an assigned skin it uses the base default skin instead. I haven't flown enough in the careers yet to see any peculiarities. However, I have also been using the Sevenless Extended BOX Careers mod which still has the old skins assigned (ie, bf109e7_skin_01.dds and bf109e7_skin_06.dds) and which are included in the current version of this historic skins mod.

Just downloaded, but, unfortunately, I can't find any "alternative" skin: just the defaults (e.g.: I don't find "dark green" skin for Fw 190A-3). Indeed, dimension of all downloads are about halved in respect of values between brackets.

Seems an update has changed the file names for skins and I have not had time to update the mod

Yes, please, update the mod, this time including alternative skins; often these latter are the "default" in some theaters or for some squadrons, their lack makes incomplete the show.?

 

Please forgive me, I didn't understand how this works! I hadn't searched all the folders! Actually the skin that in the game calls "dark green" is the "fw190a3_blank_02" which is fine! I think it is like this for all of the others. Excellent work! Thanks again!

A little help. What I found in following image:

That's to say that, for instance, you may get working "bf109e7_blank_01.dds" skin just renaming milktoast's "bf109e7_skin_01.dds" currently contained in his mod. Actually, all white "winter" camos can be restored with their own historical markings, I think. Remain a total of four that I was unable to retrieve. HTH.

Downloaded the update. Everything is good now.

I just tried downloading the complete package again and it fails around 2GB downloaded.  I tried 3 different browsers just to test. So I don't  understand why I cant get this downloaded.

Have you tried downloading the smaller versions? For example, the complete defaults and then the complete extra skins? Or working down through each campaign pack individually?

Small update to make some fixes I've been neglecting. I also changed the file host so hopefully no more issues on that front. Let me know if you run into any issues and Ill try to get to them in a timely manner.
